Hospital
Piper has come to see Cassius who asks her directly if she's pregnant. She tells him that she's not sure - she's just late. He urges her to do a test but she says she doesn't owe him anything and then storms out.

Hotel
Terese is giving her staff a briefing about the forthcoming conference. Piper looks through the window and sees that she's busy, so departs.

After the briefing, Leo comes in and goes to kiss her. She tells him it's a "bit too much PDA for the workplace"

Waterhole
Alice is having a drink when Dipi comes in. Dipi asks her if she's free for another cleaning job, and Alice is surprised that Dipi wants to hire her again(!) She eventually refuses, saying she's too busy with Toadie and his family.

No.30
Shane tells Toadie that Alice is a god send to them. Toadie tells him that daycare have a spot for both Nell and Hugo again, so it's time for Alice to leave.

Hotel Office
David comes to tell Terese that Piper has been visiting Cassius. He's worried about her as she was quite upset leaving his room earlier.

Shane has gone home now and Alice is ironing Toadie's shirts. Toadie awkwardly broaches the subject of daycare with Alice. Alice suggests that she can stay on anyway and even lower her rates. Toadie thanks her for her work around the house, but it won't be necessary for her to stay on. When Toadie has gone, Alice growls to herself in frustration and anger.

No.22, the following morning
Terese comes to see Piper for a chat. Piper is clearly very upset and admits to Terese that she is "late". She's not sure if she's pregnant and doesn't want to do a test.

PIPER: If I was really pregnant...
TERESE: Are you?
PIPER: I don't know. I haven't done a test and I don't know if I can.
TERESE: But, sweetheart...
PIPER: Mum, if it's positive, I don't know whether I can deal with it.

Terese gathers herself.

TERESE: Look, whatever happens, I'll be there for you every step of the way. But first things first, we need to get you to a doctor to have a test, it's the most reliable way. And we'll just take it from there.

Piper nods, grateful for the support.

Alice is cuddling Hugo and telling him she's worked like a dog around Toadie's place and now she's going to lose him. She picks up a bottle of cleaning product and says she's had an idea.

Alice has told Dipi that she wants to clean for her after all. Dipi is surprised, but Alice says she has time now that Hugo and Nell are going to daycare. Dipi agrees.

Terese has phoned the doctor for an appointment for Piper. As they're leaving, Terese tells Leo that she has to spend some time with Piper alone. He looks a bit put out.

Alice is cleaning the house and goes to throw a leftover casserole out of the fridge. But suddenly she has an idea.

Hospital
Terese has come to see Cassius. She tells him that he's made some very bad decisions, but he did save Piper after she came off the boat and she's grateful to him for that. Presently, Piper comes in.

PIPER: Mum, what are you doing in here?
TERESE: Did you get the results?
PIPER: Yes.

Harold's café (outside)
Leo tells David that he's not sure Terese is as invested as he thought. David says maybe Terese just has some family stuff going on.

Hospital
Piper apparently isn't pregnant after all. Cassius says that now she can move on with her life.

PIPER: Do you know how hard it is to love someone and hate them at the same time? Especially when you're not even sure if you hate them? When I heard that you'd been bashed up, I was so worried about you. Do you know how guilty I felt for caring about you after everything you did? I had to work so hard to convince myself that I didn't care. And then this pregnancy scare pushed all my real feelings to the surface and I realised that I don't hate you. I just hate what you did.
CASSIUS: The people I've hurt and the lives I've wrecked...if I could take that all back...
PIPER: Cassius, there is someone that you can still help...yourself. Get a good lawyer, fight for a shorter sentence. Don't let Hamish ruin your life.

She picks up her bag.

CASSIUS: You're leaving?
PIPER: I've had too many people taken away from me in my life. I need to walk away from this, I need to control how this ends.
CASSIUS:(tearfully) I'll miss you.
PIPER: I know.

She leaves.

Lassiter's Lake
Piper is walking along, feeling the sun on her face. She looks up at the sky and smiles. Time to move on.

Dipi comes in and asks Alice why she didn't finish all the jobs she asked her too. Alice says she came back to make lunch for Toadie and the kids. Dipi pays her half her money and leaves.

When Dipi has gone, Toadie comes out and tells her that Nell has been vomiting. Toadie wonders if she ate anything for lunch (it seems Alice made a casserole and fed it to everyone - but fed Nell the out of date one) Alice offers to make Nell a ginger remedy.

TOADIE: Thanks, Alice, that's lovely. What are we going to do without you?

Alice smirks to herself.

Terese apologises to Leo for brushing him off this morning, explaining that Piper had a pregnancy scare. Leo tells her that he understands, although Paul did try to get under his skin with a comment. Terese tells him that she really wants him to live with her, and they'll communicate better in the future.

Toadie tells Alice that Nell is feeling a bit better. But he doesn't think she can start daycare this week now. He asks Alice to stay on a bit longer to cover the time Nell is ill. Alice is delighted.

When Toadie is gone, Alice chillingly talks to Hugo about her dastardly plans to keep Nell sick a little longer.
