Number 28
Bea wants help with her TAFE work but finds Elly upset after her conversation with Mark. Elly explains Mark's ultimatum and says she wants to be with him, but she's been burnt in the past due to his complicated relationship with Paige.
BEA: She's completely out of the picture?
ELLY: Physically yes, but I feel like a consolation prize. Y'know, Paige is gone, oh Elly's still here I'll just have a crack at the leftovers.
Bea says she doesn't get that vibe at all when she sees Elly and Mark together, but Elly sadly says she can't help the way she feels.
Number 32 Backyard
Yashvi and Kirsha try to help Shane think up ways to get back in Dipi's good books. They know the only thing that would really make her happy is performing Flapper, so they urge Shane to put himself in Dipi's resourceful shoes and find another way to make it happen. The show must go on.
The Shed
Aaron has a laugh with one of his employees, James, over some YouTube videos but snaps back into work mode when Paul shows up to "observe". Paul tells Aaron to just pretend he isn't even there, but Aaron's already stressing out.
Harold's Café
Dipi cracks up laughing after Sheila explains her gorilla-gram mishap with Clive. But Sheila's happy Clive accepted her house key in the end and they're in a good place. She asks how Dipi and Shane are travelling but Dipi says she's finding it hard to forgive her husband.
Bea catches up with Xanthe and tells her she's still carrying a lot of guilt over Finn. Xanthe says it's not Bea's fault Finn's a psycho and that she needs to stop feeling bad about it. Bea changes the subject to Elly and Mark, telling Xanthe about Mark's ultimatum and all the baggage the would-be couple has. Bea says her sister needs help and Xanthe agrees; Elly and Mark just need a little push in the right direction.
The Shed
Shane pops in to ask Aaron to play Shiny-Pants Bobby in the impromptu performance of Flapper he's putting on for Dipi. Aaron can see Paul glaring at them so negotiates his way out of it by telling Shane he should perform the role instead. Dipi wrote it with her husband in mind anyway, and it might make her soften her resolve towards him. Shane smiles and thanks Aaron for his advice. Paul's pretty impressed with Aaron's motivational skills - now he just needs to apply them to The Shed.
Number 28/Ramsay Street
Xanthe and Bea present Elly and Mark with a small suitcase each (Chloe gave them Mark's luggage and Elly's is on loan from Karl). Xanthe explains to them that they're to write all their emotional baggage down on paper, put it in the cases and then throw them away - symbolically of course, as Karl in particular wants his case back. Mark seems quite reluctant but Elly says if they're to move forward like he said, then they should give it a go.
After Xanthe and Bea leave, Elly and Mark start to write down their issues but Mark jokes around at first by putting down 'Dr Who' as their main source of friction, which doesn't impress Elly. She says their biggest issue is Paige.
ELLY: It's always in the back of my head that when we were together you chose her over me.
MARK: You ended things and then you pushed me towards her.
ELLY: Because you were in love with her.
MARK: That was then.
ELLY: OK so you can honestly say that if Paige and Jack broke up, and she came back here, you honestly wouldn't want to be with her?
MARK: Yes. Paige and I, we loved each other but it was never right. It just took us a stupid amount of time to realise that. If I had my time again I would never have gone back to her. I would have chosen you.
This surprises Elly. Mark takes her hand and says he wants another chance, so Elly tells him they have to keep unloading all their baggage. Over a montage, they write everything down. Elly puts Derek, Finn and Ned on bits of paper while Mark writes down Kate, losing Caitlin, letting Tyler down and then lastly, Paige. They take the suitcases outside and throw them onto the nature strip with a smile.
Number 32 Backyard/Harold's Café
As well as his daughters, Shane has roped Sheila and Toadie into performing in the musical. Toadie panics about learning lines for multiple roles while everyone sets up props on the back porch. There's slight chaos when they realise no one actually told Dipi to be there, but Kirsha ends up ringing her mum and pretending there's an emergency at home. Dipi tells Kirsha she'll be home soon and leaves Mishti in charge of the café.
Number 28/Ramsay Street
Mark and Elly are happy they've finally got everything out in the open. They're just about to kiss when they hear a truck outside and realise it's the hard rubbish collection. They race outside to try and save their suitcases but the truck is already driving off.
The Shed
Paul tells Aaron that he's only being so thorough because he believes in the business. But Aaron's alarmed when Paul says he needs to fire one of his trainers to save some money. Paul reminds Aaron that they're not running a charity.
PAUL: I'm starting to think that maybe you're not all that serious about being a business owner. Maybe you're just waiting around to marry David so you can give it all up and be a kept man?
AARON: (offended) I have always paid my own way.
PAUL: Yeah? How are you paying for the wedding?
Aaron says he's put some money aside but Paul doesn't look convinced. He tells Aaron that he's not trying to be deliberately cruel, he just wants him to succeed, but Aaron says he's got things under control.
Number 28
Elly's stressing about the lost luggage but Mark's pretty chill about it.
MARK: Maybe it's a sign.
ELLY: What, that we're rubbish together?
MARK: No that our baggage is literally gone. I can't promise this won't cause problems for us again, but if it does I do promise that we'll work through it.
They finally kiss but Karl arrives home and interrupts them. He's happy to see them together, not so happy with the loss of his suitcase. But Mark offers to buy him a new case, which placates him.
Number 32 Backyard
Dipi's stunned to see Shane, Kirsha, Yashvi, Toadie and Sheila dressed up in the backyard ready to perform Flapper. Shane says he did it all for her and the girls give her Ginger's costume to put on. Yashvi introduces the musical to their non-existent audience and Dipi gets right into character. There's a montage of scenes, culminating in one between Bobby and Ginger that just so happens to mirror Dipi and Shane's problems. Dipi finds it in her heart to forgive Shane for his wrongdoings and they share a big pash, much to their daughters' embarrassment.
The Waterhole
Xanthe and Bea cheers their drinks to a job well done with Mark and Elly. Bea tells Xanthe that Finn always told her they should become friends. Obviously for his own diabolical reasons, but Bea says in his own warped way he was right that they'd click.
Aaron's offloading his Paul woes to Mishti but Mishti says that firing one of the trainers actually does make sense. Aaron knows this too, but he still hates how Paul talks down to him and treats him like an idiot. Mishti asks if he's told David, but Aaron doesn't want to complicate matters. David and Paul suddenly appear and David happily gushes about the surgery he was in earlier. Aaron feels as though he can't ruin David's happiness by speaking up about his issues with Paul.
The Shed
Aaron forces himself to have an awkward conversation with James. He says his new business partner has been crunching the numbers and he needs to let him go. James is upset and reminds David he and his wife are about to have a baby, but Aaron says he has no other choice. James was the last one in so he's the first out, "it's nothing personal". James huffs that it sure feels personal and walks off leaving Aaron to pack up all the equipment.
Number 32 Backyard
Dipi and Shane are cuddled up in the pool together. Dipi thanks him again for putting on the show and says they make a great team. Maybe they could even write another show together!
SHANE: Does that mean I'm off the couch?
DIPI: On one condition: that scene you cut from the reading today...
SHANE: Yeah I thought it was a bit raunchy for Kirsha.
DIPI: We perform it tonight in the bedroom.
They smile at each other and have a cheeky smooch.
The Shed
Aaron's packing up all the mess left around everywhere, but when he picks up one of the kettlebells he accidentally throws his back out. He sinks to the floor in an immense amount of pain.
