Susan and Elly ease Bea into a sitting position, but she's confused by 'Patrick's' actions and wants to know where he is. Susan and Elly share a worried glance.
ELLY: Bea you're not going to like hearing this. His name isn't Patrick; it's Finn. The ex-boyfriend I was telling you about.
BEA: What?
ELLY: He's the one who locked us in here.
BEA: No, Patrick wouldn't...
SUSAN: It's okay; we'll explain it all to you when we get out of here.
Easier said than done when Susan and Elly realise they don't have their phones. And neither does Bea. Susan takes a half-filled water bottle out of her bag and offers it to Bea, but urges her to take small sips to make it last. Elly tries to remain optimistic, believing someone will see their abandoned cars on the road. Susan agrees but is still concerned and suggests they make noise to attract attention. Her and Elly pick up items to bang against the wall as they yell for help, but there's no one around for miles.
Erinsborough Hospital
Sheila sits by Xanthe's bed, holding her hand, when Gary returns. Sheila questions if he's been drinking and Gary replies he "knocked a few back with Paul". David pops in and tells them there have been improvements with Xanthe - she's breathing unassisted and the swelling on her brain is subsiding. Sheila asks if there's any brain damage but David says they won't know the full extent of anything until Xanthe wakes up.
GARY: So we wait?
DAVID: Xanthe's as strong as they come. She'll be in there fighting.
Gary looks at his daughter, hoping David's right.

Bea's hearing 'Patrick's' voice in her head from a time when he was being loving towards her, while Elly keeps banging on the container wall. Susan encourages Elly to stop and take a rest with her, so Elly reluctantly sits down. Still confused, Bea says Patrick will come back and get them out, "he wouldn't leave me here".
SUSAN: Sweetheart he's not coming back.
ELLY: His name's Finn, he did this deliberately.
BEA: Finn?
ELLY: I think he set you up right from the start.
SUSAN: Yeah, he must have tracked you down in Broome.
BEA: We met in Sydney. These guys were hassling me and he stopped them and rescued me. Then we swapped numbers and when we met he was in a wheelchair. Those guys had followed him and beat him... None of that was real?
SUSAN: I'm afraid it's unlikely.
BEA: He was so nice to me.
ELLY: That's his M.O.
Elly questions why Bea was in Sydney and Bea says she was living there. But then 'Patrick' wanted her to come to Erinsborough to reconnect with Elly. Bea then says that Patrick told her he and Elly met up and Elly said she wasn't cool with them getting married, but Bea realises this was a fabrication too.
BEA: Why's he doing this?
ELLY: Revenge. He blames us for sending him to jail. Bea I'm so sorry.
Bea looks utterly defeated that her whole relationship was a lie.
Lassiter's Complex
Mark bumps into Karl and asks if he's heard from Susan yet, assuming the women would be at Maryborough by now. Karl says he hasn't but he'll keep Mark posted. When Karl dashes off, Mark rings Elly's phone but gets her voicemail. He leaves a message telling Elly to give him a call: "I just want to know you're okay".

Bea's now remembering all the nasty things 'Patrick' said to her over the past couple of months, which would mesh more with him being unstable Finn. Bea tells her family that Finn bought her clothes similar to what Elly wears, including her outfit for the scavenger hunt. Elly and Susan realise that Finn put Bea in the same clothes so she'd be caught on CCTV to frame Elly for the hit and run. Bea's shocked to learn that Xanthe's in hospital.
BEA: People have tried to con me before but this is evil. He knew what I needed: a safe place.
ELLY: You would have been safer literally anywhere else.
BEA: Not on the streets.
ELLY: What do you mean? Before you said you moved back to Sydney. I thought you moved home to be with your dad?
BEA: I lived on the streets for five years.
SUSAN: You were homeless? Did Liz know?
BEA: No!
ELLY: (upset) Why didn't you move home with me and mum?
BEA: You didn't want me to remember?
ELLY: That isn't true, Bea!
BEA: Mum told me that you kept at her until she caved.
ELLY: Bea I promise you that is not true.
BEA: Then why didn't you contact me?
ELLY: I didn't know that you were homeless.
BEA: Elly, you're my sister. You didn't even try.
ELLY: I'm so sorry.
BEA: I'll never forgive you.
Elly looks distraught at her sister's words.
Erinsborough Hospital
Mark finds Gary pacing out the front and asks how Xanthe is. Gary replies that she's still out of it and they're unsure how long it will take for her to wake up. Mark then tries to convince Gary that Elly had nothing to do with the hit and run, but Gary's not having a bar of it.
MARK: Gary, she didn't do it, mate. I know Elly, she didn't.
GARY: You had the same blinkers on with Sonya.
MARK: That was a bit different.
GARY: And Tyler! Face it, when it comes to people you care about breaking the law you've got a blind spot.
MARK: That might have been the case in the past, not now. And if emotions are clouding anyone's judgement here it's yours!
Gary starts to get indignant but Mark urges him to use his common sense, asking him what reason Elly would have to want to hurt Xanthe or Chloe. Gary brings up Elly's drinking and the fact that she's on the CCTV.
GARY: Whether she meant to or not, Elly put Xanthe in that hospital bed. She's not getting away with it!
Mark's frustrated but knows nothing else he says will get through to Gary right now.

Elly's still trying her best to bang things against the container wall but her movements are becoming more laboured over time. Susan sits and looks on in despair, while Bea doesn't make eye contact with either of them.
Erinsborough Hospital
Dipi finds Sheila sitting outside Xanthe's room looking quite upset and does her best to comfort her. Sheila admits she said some terrible things to Xanthe before her accident and now she feels incredibly guilty. Dipi says Xanthe will know Sheila didn't really mean to be harsh, but Sheila's upset she may not get the chance to apologise. Dipi tells Sheila to get back in Xanthe's room, hold her hand and talk to her like she normally would.

Susan has re-joined Elly to help make noise, but Bea's tucked herself away in a corner. She looks at a piece of paper in her hands that turn out to be her wedding vows.
BEA V/O: Patrick, I never knew love before I met you. You saved me. Made me feel safe and wanted. Told me I was worthy of a better life. Though we've only known each other a short while, I've no doubt you're the one I want to spend the rest of my days with.
Bea can't help but cry to herself.
Erinsborough Hospital
Sheila's taken Dipi's advice and is back sitting by Xanthe's side for a chat. She admits to Xanthe that she was worried about her becoming a doctor because she thought she was aiming too high. And if she didn't reach her goals she end up hurt and disappointed. But by Sheila telling her that, Xanthe ended up hurt anyway.
SHEILA: I am so sorry, because this problem really is about me, you know. All my life I've been told that I'm not good enough. By my father and that awful Joanne Schwartz. And so I've learnt to keep my expectations low. But I shouldn't have put that on you because you've proved time and time again that you can overcome any challenge. I am so proud of you, sweetheart, and I know you'll achieve your dream. And I promise you that if... no, when you wake up I will do everything in my power to help you I promise you that.
Sheila is in tears as she watches Xanthe, willing her to wake up.
Lassiter's Complex
Yashvi asks Mark if he's heard from Bea but he's none the wiser, as is Karl about Susan's whereabouts. Yashvi wishes she'd tried harder to talk Bea out of the wedding. Mark remembers Yashvi mentioned something about Patrick being controlling. Yashvi admits Bea told her that Patrick wouldn't let her cut her hair and used his injury to keep her close. The mention of Patrick being in a wheelchair piques Karl's interest and he asks if Patrick has MS, which confuses Mark.
MARK: What made you ask that?
KARL: Rita hired a Patrick who was also in a wheelchair. I just thought it might have been the same person.
Mark asks if either of them have seen Bea's Patrick or Rita's Patrick before, which is a no, but Karl has intern Patrick's phone number. Mark tries to call the number on Karl's phone but it's disconnected.
Erinsborough Police Station
Mark shows the number to Mishti, telling her his theory that both Patricks are the same person. Mishti reminds Mark that Bea and her fiancé running off to get married isn't a police issue, but Mark says it could be if they're running away from something.
MARK: All I know is that Elly wasn't the one driving the car.
MISHTI: Well the evidence is stacked against her.
MARK: Yeah but if these two Patricks are the same guy...
MISHTI: Which is unlikely.
MARK: I can't let this go without checking!
Mishti feels bad for him but she thinks he's clutching at straws. Mark wants her to do him a favour and check the number, but Mishti says she can't afford to take risks on flimsy evidence right now.

Susan and Elly talk while Bea sleeps. Elly can't believe her sister was out on the streets and she had no idea, but she honestly can't remember telling her mum to keep Bea out of the house. Susan comforts Elly when she says if she wasn't so self-absorbed back in the day then none of this would have happened. Bea looks as though she's awake and might have heard that last part.
Erinsborough Hospital
Gary's joined Sheila at Xanthe's bedside and told her that Elly's done a runner. Sheila doesn't believe Susan would have aided her niece in running away but Gary retorts, "we all help our own". Xanthe's hand suddenly moves and the Cannings bolt into action, grabbing David from out in the corridor. They hold their breaths as Xanthe slowly struggles awake. David asks Xanthe if she can tell them her name and they're elated when she responds correctly. Poor Xanthe is a bit distressed at being in the hospital but David assures her they're taking good care of her.
Number 28
Karl leaves a worried voicemail for Susan begging her to call him back ASAP. Mark drops in and asks Karl if Susan has the find my phone app. While they're checking the laptop, Mark unwittingly leans on the hidden camera tea chest. Karl makes a lucky guess with Susan's password and is surprised to see her location as Kinnabulla. Mark gets him to zoom out and they discover the girls are way further north than what they're meant to be. Karl can't help but worry that Elly doesn't want to come back and face the music but Mark knows there has to be another explanation.

Susan has a sip of water then offers the bottle to Elly, but Elly's more concerned with getting Bea to drink. Bea refuses and Elly can see she's hurting over Finn.
ELLY: (sympathetic) I fell for him just as hard as you did. And even though the first time he betrayed me, I let him charm and manipulate his way back into my life and betray me again. Bea this is not your fault. Please don't blame yourself.
BEA: I don't... I blame you.
Elly and Susan are quite shocked by her admission.
BEA: Everything he did to me, all of this, was to get back at you. If you didn't exist, none of this would be happening. If we don't get out of here it's your fault.
Bea pitches the water bottle. Elly tries to digest her sister's harsh words while Susan puts a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Night soon falls and the women are wide-awake and worried, huddled under a tarp together for warmth. Elly's concerned they're never going to get found and Susan agrees it won't be tonight. Elly's worried about how much water they have left and that no one knows that Finn's responsible. Susan gently calms her down as Elly starts to cry.
SUSAN: Listen to me. Karl's going to be worried, Mark's going to be worried, they're going to come looking for us.
ELLY: What if they don't?
SUSAN: They will. Someone is going to put this all together; someone is going to figure out what's happened okay?
Susan hugs Elly as she weeps while Bea huddles to herself in the corner.
Erinsborough Hospital
Sheila and Gary stand by while David asks Xanthe if she remembers what happened to her. Xanthe recalls she was doing a scavenger hunt and then there was a car coming towards her and Chloe.
GARY: Who was driving?
XANTHE: It was Elly's car.
GARY: Yeah but who was behind the wheel?
XANTHE: ... It was Elly.
Sheila is surprised but Gary has the air of 'so, I was right all along'.
