Rory is playing darts on his own, when Aaron shows up. He immediately asks Rory whether he was seeing Mick on the side when they were together. Rory denies it, but Aaron explains that Mick has told Elly and Paige everything - including that Mick had never broken into anyone's room, and that Rory kicked Aaron out of the troupe because his two-timing was proving too complicated.
Rory insists that this is 'bull', but Aaron isn't buying it - saying that's why he went to the backpackers' to see Mick, to keep him quiet. Rory swears he has no idea what Aaron is talking about.
Erinsborough High School
Shane and Sheila come out of their test at night school. Clive turns up to help mark the papers, so they can go over the results after lunch. Sheila thinks she did really well; Shane says he found it a bit tough. Clive says they're just looking for an honest picture of where people are at so they know what content to cover in the course. Shane looks sheepish as he walks away.
Paul's Penthouse
Toadie is moaning to Paul about having to be the guest of honour at the hotel dream event party the night before Tyler's trial. Paul tells Toadie that Tyler has given his blessing, so there's no problem - he can just stick to orange juice all night. Toadie sarcastically thanks Paul and leaves. Amy is doing some paperwork for Robinson Heights, and gets annoyed with Paul looking over her shoulder.
PAUL: Costing Robinson Heights is not the same as costing a gazebo! It wouldn't hurt to have another eye run over things.
AMY: Dad, what was the first condition of me taking this job?
PAUL: That I would let you make the decisions. Alright, I'm sorry - I was just trying to be supportive.
Meanwhile, on the balcony, David is telling Leo about his progress with the dating app. He says he got some matches, but decided to delete it; he still loves Aaron. Leo asks whether David would really want to get back with Aaron after he hooked up with Rory.
DAVID: No, he made his decision. There's no going back.
The Handywoman
Yashvi is posing in the office window with her high-visibility workwear. Kurt, one of Paul's associates who is involved in the Development™, turns up to see Amy - but she takes him to task over his budget for the scheme, which she calls 'grossly overestimated'. She says she knows a dozen contractors who could do the work for less.
KURT: We all do. They're called the shonks.
But Amy assures him that isn't the case, and gives him the paperwork back to be 'reconfigured'.
KURT: Ain't happening, sweetheart.
AMY: Excuse me?!
KURT: You're trying to rip me off.
AMY: If that's what you think, then maybe you need to look for another job.
KURT: Excuse me?
AMY: You heard me! If you're not willing to fix this ridiculously inflated quote, then we can't work together.
KURT: I think I need to have a word with your father.
AMY: Oh, why - cos he's a man? Or do you think you're gonna get a different answer?
KURT: Oh, I'll get a different answer alright.
AMY: Well, that is sexism and it has no place here! You're off the project!
KURT: We'll see.
Kurt drives off, looking smugly confident. Yashvi congratulates Amy on her 'total boss move'.
Erinsborough High School
Clive is giving the mature learners their test papers back, telling them he's impressed with the results - particularly Shane, who scored 96 percent. Sheila is less pleased with her mark, moaning that she got lots of the questions right but that Clive marked her down for spelling and punctuation.
SHEILA: This is biology, Dr Gibbons, not English!
Clive says that these things are important no matter what the subject, and suggests that Sheila could become Shane's 'study buddy' to get some help on that score! Sheila complains that Shane did his test on a computer, with a spell-checker - but Clive reminds her that this isn't an official assessment.
CLIVE: You've got plenty of time to pull your socks up before the real thing.
Sheila looks upset, while Shane smiles nervously.
The Waterhole
Rory is still trying to convince Aaron that he hasn't done anything wrong; he says that Mick is just telling ugly lies to break them up because he's obsessed with Aaron. Aaron makes out that he believes Rory, and they agree to go to lunch together. But as soon as Rory heads to the bathroom, Aaron sneaks a look at his phone (which is pin-protected!), guesses the pin, and logs in.
He quickly finds text messages between Rory and Mick, arranging their meet-up at the backpackers'. Aaron sends a new message from Rory's phone, asking if Mick wants to hook up. He gets an instant reply, which reads, 'Just like old times ;) (3 but I heard you told Aaron about me....'
Aaron is furious; and when Rory comes back, he bitterly suggests he should change the pass code on his phone. He shows Rory the message from Mick, saying this proves Rory's the liar.
RORY: Okay. I admit we had a bit of a thing. But It only started because I was jealous, and I needed the attention.
AARON: What, sorry, you were jealous?! Rory, I loved you - and you cheated on me because you were jealous?!
RORY: You were always more popular with the fans.
AARON: And that's why you kicked me out of the troupe, isn't it?
RORY: I guess. But the second you were gone, I knew I'd made a massive mistake - and I've wanted you back ever since. When I saw you in Paris, it was like fate giving us a second chance.
AARON: Oh. And is fate the reason you broke things up with David and I too?
RORY: If I came between you two, it's because you wanted it.
AARON: That is not true.
RORY: Then why did you keep me a secret from David for so long? How am I supposed to interpret that?!
AARON: Rory, I told you why!
RORY: Because he couldn't handle it! I might have gone a bit overboard in trying to get you back, but I wouldn't have done it if I'd thought you and David had what we had. We are a killer duo - on and off the stage!
AARON: Why would I ever want to be with you?!
Rory tells Aaron that he loves him, but Aaron isn't interested in hearing any more.
AARON: Just go! ... Rory, go!
Reluctantly, Rory walks out, while Aaron looks hurt.
Erinsborough High School
Clive's biology lesson is continuing. Sheila starts waffling on about a friend's sister who had a heart attack, and Clive has to politely shut her up! Clive is then impressed when Shane is able to tell him all the different parts of the heart, much to Sheila's annoyance. They all go for a break.
Yashvi turns up to see how Shane did on his test. He tells her he's top of the class. Yashvi remarks that she was wasting her time telling him how to cheat. Shane says he didn't listen anyway; but unbeknownst to them, Sheila is listening to the conversation...
The Terrace Restaurant
Our old friend Sue Parker is enjoying a glass of wine alone on the mezzanine at Lassiter's, and watches as Paul goes over to talk to Toadie.
PAUL: You're trending on social media! Hashtag Toadie21!
TOADIE: No, I'm not!
PAUL: No, you're right - you're not!
Paul smugly tells Toadie that his party is going ahead whether he likes it or not - and says that a celebration is what everyone needs, including Tyler and Piper. Toadie admits that the couple are choosing costumes for the party as they speak.
PAUL: I might even get on board the bogan express myself!
Paul spots Sue Parker, and abruptly leaves Toadie to go and speak to her.
PAUL: It's good to see you dining with all your friends!
SUE PARKER: I have no qualms about eating alone.
PAUL: Yeah, I suppose you have no choice now that your husband's moved on to Fay Brennan!
SUE PARKER: Well, we no longer speak - so I really don't care.
PAUL: Still, I'm glad you chose to eat here, where you're lining my pockets.
SUE PARKER: Oh, I was thinking about leaving without paying the bill.
PAUL: Were you now? Well, I think my empire, along with its new housing estate and hospital wing, can probably absorb the loss.
SUE PARKER: If you want to be gauche and flaunt your newfound wealth, go ahead. But you know from our shared experience, it can all disappear in a flash.
PAUL: So, how is your financial state, eh? Obviously not too good if you can't pay for your own lunch. You have a good day, won't you?
Sue Parker makes faces as Paul leaves.
Paul's Penthouse
Aaron turns up and immediately starts looking for David, but only Leo is home. He has summoned Aaron because he wanted to tell him face-to-face...
LEO: After hooking up with Rory, you've broken his heart for good. So you need to back off, and leave him alone.
AARON: Leo, I understand that you are protective of him, alright? But David doesn't know the whole truth.
Aaron explains that Rory has been manipulating him, and claims that this changes things.
LEO: I don't think it changes things at all! If you really loved David, you wouldn't have let Rory get to you - and you definitely wouldn't have slept with him!
AARON: Okay. I stuffed up, alright? But if you could just let me talk to David, and explain things, he might change his mind.
LEO: Yeah, yeah. I'll pass on the message. But I know my brother, and this is way too little, too late.
Erinsborough High School
Clive asks the class what they'd like to study next. Sheila suggests genetics, but Clive glosses over her again and asks Shane instead. Shane says they should do cell biology first, to give them a stronger foundation for everything else - and Clive agrees.
CLIVE: If we have no further objections, let's go with Shane's idea.
SHEILA: Yes - I have an objection! This man you suddenly think is the greatest thing since sliced bread cheated on his exam!
SHANE: What?!
SHEILA: Don't you deny it, Shane Rebecchi - I heard you talking to Yashvi! And how else would he get such a good mark when he didn't even know how to study?!
CLIVE: Sheila, this is not the time or the place - sit down!
SHEILA: No, I will not sit down - and I'm sick to death of you bullying me!
CLIVE: Bullying?
SHEILA: Yes! You ignore me, you dismiss my opinions -
CLIVE: Sheila!
SHEILA: No! If you are not interested in me, why don't you just say so - instead of giving me a hard time and marking me down on my misuse of apostrophes?!
CLIVE: Do you want to step outside and cool down for a moment?!
SHEILA: Oh, well if you're gonna throw me out of the class, I may as well go home!
CLIVE: Well, if that's what you want, I can't stop you!
Sheila marches out, while Shane looks sheepish.
Lassiter's Complex
Aaron looks pensive outside the hotel. He sits on a bench and sends a message to David, asking, 'Can we meet? Please?' Then he sees David and Leo emerging from the hotel. David sees Aaron, and looks hurt, before walking off in a different direction.
Erinsborough High School
At the end of the class, Clive dismisses the extras, and asks Shane about the cheating accusations that Sheila made. He wants to ask Shane a couple more questions that weren't on the test but could have been - just to make sure his knowledge is genuinely up to scratch. Sure enough, Shane answers the questions correctly, and Clive is satisfied that he didn't cheat.
SHANE: Just because I didn't cheat, doesn't mean I wasn't tempted (...) I've never studied for anything in my life. And I got really worked up about it. And I didn't want to be the dummy holding the rest of the class back - thought cheating might be the only way to go.
CLIVE: So what stopped you?
SHANE: I thought about my girls. Figured I'd better try and do my best.
CLIVE: Well, you've done brilliantly. You've got a natural aptitude for the subject. Must be the inventor in you - you've got this innate understanding of how things work. So your girls should be very proud.
Lassiter's Complex
Amy, Leo and Paul are chatting about David and his upset over Aaron. Leo's of the opinion that it's over between them, but Paul and Amy seem regretful, saying they made a good couple. Shonky Kurt turns up and starts mouthing off about Amy throwing him off the job. But to his surprise, Paul is completely supportive of Amy's decision, and doesn't even ask for the details of what happened.
Kurt storms off, and Amy thanks Paul for backing her. Paul says that they agreed she would make all the decisions. Paul heads off to the Retreat to see Steph, to retrieve a painting that his gran, Helen Daniels painted (presumably the one of Mrs Mangel).
AMY: Are we gonna hang it up at home?
PAUL: I don't think you'll want this particular portrait staring at us while we have breakfast!
As Paul turns the corner, he runs into Sue Parker again, and dismissively walks on.
SUE PARKER: I know something that could ruin you. Oh, that got your attention, didn't it?
PAUL: Come off it. I'm clean.
SUE PARKER: You might think you are. I was gonna hold off on telling you, but after all your gloating, I couldn't wait to see the look on your face!
Sue Parker tells Paul that Robinson Heights is a 'financial timebomb'...
Erinsborough High School
Clive is alone and packing up to leave, when Sheila appears. She says that Shane called her, and explained that he proved to Clive he hadn't been cheating. Sheila says she apologised to him, and felt she should apologise to Clive too.
SHEILA: Not just for disrupting your class, but for airing our personal business in public. That wasn't very flash.
CLIVE: No, it wasn't.
SHEILA: That being said, I still think you were hard on me.
CLIVE: You're right. I was. Not because I don't like you, Sheila - it's because I like you too much. I was trying so hard not to show any favouritism; I went totally the other way. And for that, I am very sorry.
SHEILA: So... does that mean...?
CLIVE: If there's a chance you can forgive my foolishness, I'd love to take you out for dinner sometime.
SHEILA: Oh! Well, if you can forgive my foolishness, I think that sounds fabulous!
Lassiter's Complex
Paul demands that Sue Parker tell him what she thinks she knows.
SUE PARKER: The prior property developers were a bit like you - completely unscrupulous! (...) In order to secure the land for the project, they had to buy all the houses that were already on it. Most of which were owned by elderly residents, who were grossly underpaid and forced to sign NDAs.
PAUL: Okay, and just how is that my problem? I'm not the one who did that deal.
SUE PARKER: And yet, if this was made public, then Robinson Heights would be completely tainted. See, people would think you knew what you were buying into. Especially after your dodgy dealings with the Freestyle Development™.
PAUL: I think I'm tough enough to ride out the storm.
SUE PARKER: But what about your daughter? Will she be so blasé about the backlash? It's a PR nightmare, and you know it. Any potential buyer will be completely scared off. So here's the deal - I don't leak this information to Tim Collins, and you do me a favour.
Paul smirks, intrigued.
