Number 24
Aaron is back from Paris and catches up on things with his brothers. Mark explains to him they've both been procedurally questioned, and the police know everything. He also says that they think Louise is the one responsible.
Penthouse suite
It looks like Paul has done a runner to see Leo rather than share a bath with Courtney from the scribbled note left!
Number 24
Aaron greets David warmly when he appears at the house. They catch up briefly although Aaron is a bit reluctant to say what he did in his spare time in Paris, particularly the last evening when Rory appeared. David is obviously up for a bit more "catching up" but Aaron rejects his advances as he simply wants a power nap.
Wellness Centre
Despite the cheque from the donor, Steph is still trying to secure additional funding and the tension between Steph and Amy is getting quite noticeable. Amy decides to go and check on how the contractors are doing and Jack tries to take Steph's mind off things by suggesting they celebrate their anti-anniversary - its 3 months since she dumped him the first time! It does seem to take her mind off things, more because of its strangeness, and they agree to spend a pleasant day together.
Number 24
Aaron gives up on having a powernap because Elly has called round. He tells her about running into Rory in Paris, although is quick to add that nothing happened between them, they simply talked. Elly advises for him to keep quiet about telling David, especially given how things are for his brothers just now.
The Waterhole
"I'm glad you didn't take her up on it," Leo admits to his dad after Paul told him about the bath invite from Courtney. Paul though is torn over whether there really is something there between them or not.
PAUL: She's actually growing on me.
Leo points out the large age difference between them, which is why Paul is holding back, so Leo suggests he thinks who, in an ideal world, Paul wants by his side.
LEO: Is it Courtney... or someone else?
(Later)
Amy and Jimmy join Leo and Paul and they're talking about Kirsha (Jimmy wants to go see her) when Courtney arrives. They start talking about the silent disco and about Paul cranking out the moves to Chisel. Courtney seems to be the only one, well apart from Jimmy, who has never heard of Cold Chisel. Jimmy does though know the artists Courtney has on her favourite play list and Leo and his dad exchange looks.
Harold's café
David unloads his woes about Aaron's return to Paige. "Look what he's come back to," Paige reminds him (which he gets) and suggests just being there for when Aaron needs the support he is more than willing to offer.
DAVID: In other words, stop stressing out.
PAIGE: And hang in there. The men we love are under a lot of pressure right now.
Lassiters Complex
Steph drops Jack off at the complex. Paul passes him as he goes to talk to Steph and tells her how pleased he is to see that things are working out well with Jack. "Are we still talking about me and Jack?" Steph asks when Paul starts bringing up their age gap. Paul admits that he is unsure if he is kidding himself in his relationship with Courtney given the age difference and wonders if things will still be there 20 years down the track or not?
STEPH: No relationship comes with a guarantee, so it doesn't matter about the age difference.
Steph does concede that the odds change with an age gap, something she has considered in her relationship with Jack, but they've decided to "live for the moment." She takes the opportunity to remind Paul that Courtney is a grown woman, "one that's decided to be with you," and should give her credit for knowing her own mind.
Lassiters foyer
Aaron catches up with his mum and admits that he feels he's being shut out by his brothers, Tyler especially. Fay points out that Tyler's lost two dads in mysterious circumstances so naturally his whole world has been turned upside down and he's struggling. "Could Ty and Mark be hiding something?" Aaron asks and expands to tell her what he told Tyler on the night Hamish was killed and wondered if he said anything to Mark and they acted on it?
FAY: These are your brothers, you're talking about!
Aaron denies he is accusing his brothers of anything, so Fay decides to set him straight.
FAY: There's absolutely no way Mark or Tyler had anything to do with Hamish's death.
AARON: Okay, okay!
FAY: And if you continue on with these suspicions, you're only going to make things worse.
Lassiters Complex
Amy decides to venture over to say hello to Jack and Steph, who are still on their date. She explains she just popped away from supervising the renovations to get some sustenance and admits she didn't realise they'd be there as she planned on giving Steph some space.
Steph concedes that she was snarky earlier but the fact she doesn't know who the mystery benefactor is, is getting to her... big style! "I gave my word," Amy replies but doesn't want talk about it more and its Jack that acts as peacemaker by inviting her to join them to play Jenga.
Number 24
Mark explains to his brothers, the news of the coroner's report into Hamish's death - it's inconclusive, however it confirms that he drowned in the spa (at 9.13pm) but there was a head injury too. They try to make sense of what it all means and who drowned Hamish after he was hit on the head. Mark and Aaron have assumed that the same person (probably Louise) did both and it's at that point Tyler admits that he hasn't told his brothers everything.
With the aid of a flashback to the night, Tyler explains that Hamish tried to worm his way out of everything that he'd done. "I wasn't thinking clearly," Tyler concedes and that he snapped.
TYLER: I grabbed one of Sheila's garden gnomes and smashed him over the head with it.
Thanks to the flashback we see Tyler doing that and leaving a groggy sounding Hamish on the floor as he walks away.
TYLER: I just had to get out of there but I swear to you he was fully conscious when I left. I wouldn't have walked away if he wasn't.
"No of course you wouldn't," Mark is quick to say and then adds that it ties in with his theory that Louise was responsible - she'd have been easily capable of overpowering an unsteady Hamish.
TYLER: So either way, I did contribute to his death?
MARK: Mate, you didn't kill him.
Lassiters Complex
The trio are happily playing Jenga and its Jack that loses as it comes crashing down on his move. Steph concedes that it's been an enjoyable time playing Jenga, compared to how things have been between herself and Amy lately. Amy too hates the tension and swears she isn't trying to torment Steph on purpose.
STEPH: A part of me knows that. But it's still doing my head in but I don't want this to come between us. I miss this, I miss us, I miss my friend, I miss hanging out.
AMY: So do I.
JACK: Oh, see, this is a part of my plan, that was the only reason why I let you guys win!
Penthouse suite
Courtney is somewhat relived she wasn't becoming paranoid that Paul was avoiding her when he returns home. "Maybe I was," Paul admits than goes onto say that her invitation (to the bath) caught him off guard. She tries to suggest that it means things between them wouldn't be boring.
PAUL: Look Courtney
COURTNEY: (interrupting) You're turning me down?
PAUL: Well you can't deny the age difference between us, can you?
COURTNEY: Who says I'm trying, I don't care.
PAUL: Yes, maybe not now but further down the track I mean, what if you want babies?
COURTNEY: No ew, children are gross!
Despite her screwing up her face on saying that, Paul thinks she might think differently in 10 years' time. Courtney didn't think she'd have to work so hard to talk him into this.
PAUL: It's just, see I've racked up a fair bit of marital carnage in my time and I'm just not sure I'm ready to go there again.
COURTNEY: I can understand.
PAUL: That said though, you do astound me. Well whenever you're around I always expect the unexpected and that's something I didn't realise I needed in my life. So, um, how about we just take this one day at a time, you know see where it goes naturally hey?
COURTNEY: So it's not a no?
PAUL: No, it's not a no, just not an immediate yes.
Courtney is pleased with his answer, because she doesn't want to rush things either... then drops it that she's put a deposit down on a wedding venue!
Number 24
Fay is round to see her sons and knows all about what happened with Tyler and his dad (Tyler explained it all) and reassures him that he wasn't responsible for Hamish's death. "I wish I could make myself believe that," Tyler admits and Mark replies that the only thing they know for certain is that Tyler isn't guilty.
Mark suggests to Tyler that he flies with himself and Fay to Adelaide (he plans on talking to the Port Lincoln police) but he turns the invite down to stay and support Piper. "I'm worried about you," Fay tells her son and Mark thinks distance would be good and suggests that they stay out of the police's way while they investigate Hamish's death.
Wellness centre (next day)
Amy is going a mini-dance to celebrate being moonboot free! The happy atmosphere is quickly over though when Snr. Sgt. Lake appears to invite Amy to the station for questioning by Det. Graves "regarding the death of Hamish Roche."
Unmissable Neighbours
- Amy being interviewed by Det. Graves.
- Aaron commenting that the investigation could go on for months.
- Elly telling Ben what Yashvi's plan is.
- Leo quizzing his brother.
