School
As she sits on a bench recovering, Susan can't believe that she fell and gave Ben a fright into the bargain too. Elly reassures her aunt that he will be fine, she's the one needing sorting out beginning with a trip to hospital to be checked out. Susan is reluctant to go, particularly as she doesn't want the department knowing since she's just back to work after what happened with Finn, but ultimately agrees on condition that Elly stays to look after the school, with Karl called to pick her up.

Harold's Cafe
Steph comes to Jack's rescue, showing him how to fold up some baby equipment correctly as he was struggling to carry it fully expanded, when she comes in for a cuppa. He is babysitting Gabe, hoping to see some smiles from his son but first he's got to listen to Shane and Dipi reminiscing about their kids' first smiles and sleepless nights!

School
Jimmy and Kirsha are gossiping about Susan (he said she'd had a stroke) when Elly comes into the classroom. She sets him, and the others right, by saying that Susan is fine and gives the class a subtle ticking off pointing out to them that before they talk about somebody, how would they feel in their shoes.

The assignment Elly is handing out involves the kids being paired up randomly. Kirsha isn't happy to be working with Tia instead of Jimmy, even though he points out to her that she's the most popular girl in the class, Kirsha just wants someone to help her!

Hospital
Susan has been checked over and Karl is about to drive them home but she doesn't want to go there, she wants to go back to school otherwise the rumour mill will go into overdrive! Reluctantly, Karl agrees to let Susan go back to work so she can sort out a few things and she then promises to take some time off, even though he'd prefer if they went back home.

School
Tia and Kirsha discuss what to do for their assignment.

Mark drops by the school to inform Elly that Finn's hearing has been scheduled for 6 weeks' time. "I thought I'd feel relieved," Elly admits and Mark thinks that will come once it's all over. They then talk about how Xanthe is going and Elly tells him about her dropping out of school and thinks it's probably for the best she takes a break (since she can't concentrate on her studies) and returns later. Elly admits to feeling guilty about the whole thing but Mark assures her that it was likely to happen even if she wasn't around.

Backpackers
Jack struggles with a (fake) crying baby and trying to work at the same time. Steph comes by with some paperwork for Leo to sign and spots Jack struggling to now feed Gabe and suggests he contacts Paige but he wants to persevere himself.

School
Kirsha is introducing Tia to Dipi when Tia's mum (Jane) comes bye to pick her daughter up as they've go to shopping for sleepover supplies. Tia invites Kirsha to the sleepover and the lass is trying desperately to get out of it, but Dipi thinks it will be good for her daughter.

Meanwhile out in the carpark, Karl has arrived for Susan (although she's not quite ready to go yet) and tells her he's booked them into a health retreat in Thailand and is prepared to splurge for the sake of her health! "I can't just take leave at the drop of a hat," she protests but Karl is adamant that she needs the sick leave and reminds her of the deal they made. Susan confesses that the fall has shaken her, especially after seeing the look on the kids' faces, and agrees to go to the retreat.

SUSAN: I will do whatever I have to, I just want to get better.
KARL: Yes. I'll be looking after you.

Number 32
Kirsha isn't amused at her mum making her go on the sleepover but she thinks it's a good idea for her daughter to make friends.

KIRSHA: So you're making me do this?
DIPI: You'll have fun when you get there!

Backpackers
Jack still can't get Gabe to stop (fake) crying and fears it's because bubs doesn't like his dad. Steph reassures him that babies and crying come naturally and volunteers to see if she can get him to settle, which eventually Jack relents to, and as soon as she has Gabe in her arms the (fake) crying stops!

Ramsay Street
Elly stops for a quick chat with her aunt before heading over to #24 for a swim. Susan turns down the offer of help to pack but wants Elly to step up and become acting Principal when she is away, she'd rather appoint internally than have the department appoint someone after what happened with Finn! Elly is astonished at being offered the job (she was the preferred candidate although Susan did talk to others too) and heads off for the swim promising to think the offer over.

What Elly didn't hear was Susan telling Karl that the staff see the position as some sort of "poisoned challis" and he doesn't think she has the best track record either. Susan reasons she knows best and thinks it will also help Elly "get her professional confidence back" too.

KARL: I'm going to be brutally honest and I still think it's a risk.
SUSAN: Maybe it is but I still think we should take it.

Number 24
Mark wonders what's up with Elly when she enters the house and looks like she's about to have a panic attack. She explains about the job offer adding that she doesn't want to say no in case Susan doesn't go on the trip. He tries to get her to see the positives - Susan wouldn't have offered the job if she didn't think she was capable and she is good with the students. It's not working, Elly is still worried especially about the administration, to which Mark volunteers to help her with as that is his forte!

Backpackers
Looking after Gabe has worn Steph out, she's sound asleep on Jack's bed when he comes up to the mezzanine to check on them. He takes a blanket and covers her with it and can't seem to stop himself from looking at her sleeping.

Number 32
Shane gets an unwelcome surprise when he goes to sit down - a needle in the bum courtesy of a cross-stitch needle that Mishti has left lying! He has a quiet word with his wife about pushing Kirsha to having this sleepover when she is not ready, but Dipi still thinks she is right. Eventually Kirsha pipes up to say she will go to the sleepover, she's looking forward to it, which proves Dipi's point that she just needed a little bit of encouragement!

The Waterhole
As he plays darts (badly) with Leo, Jack admits that he's got Steph to thank for helping him with Gabe today. Leo points out that she's had kids, so knows the deal.

JACK: Yes, but I'm his dad, I should be able to settle him.
LEO: Yes well don't let it get to you, there's a reason grown men are terrified of squawking babies, I'd rather wrestle a bear!

Sheila interjects to say it took until they had Naomi for Frank to find his parenting skills and gives them a laugh by saying that Gary refused to wear his nappy half the time.

SHEILA: Wanted play with his you know what. Nothing's changed!
LEO: How many kids do you have Sheila?
SHEILA: None of your business!

Sheila leaves them to it and Jack admits to Leo that there was something else today - Steph fell asleep on his bed.

LEO: I'd charge her for the room but we're business partners!
JACK: Yes, well seeing her lying there like that, I kind of felt something.
LEO: Ah, something that would be inappropriate if you were still a priest?
JACK: Yes, yes sort of. The only person I've had feelings for in the past 10 years has been Paige, so I think I'm starting to notice other women.

Leo congratulates him on being completely normal and Jack admits that it has somewhat taken him by surprise.

LEO: Look, the worlds a different place without your God goggles on. It's perfectly natural for you to see a gorgeous woman lying in your bed and feel something. I'm not sure if she's your type though.
JACK: Steph's a good woman.
LEO: Sure she is, I mean she left a fiancé for a chick, she makes my life hell but if you've got feelings for her.
JACK: I don't, it's just a fleeting feeling, she was you know, so good with Gabe.

Number 24
Mark has cleared up Elly's lappy and organised things so she can manage being in charge while Susan is away.

ELLY: Wow, I bet you fold your undies and iron them too?!
MARK: Yes, I wouldn't have it any other way!

She is sincerely thankful but turns down the offer of going out, so she can get her head round the new job, so that Susan can go away and relax.

Number 32
Dipi and Shane have found a perk to everyone being out - spending time romantically in the pool at night! Unfortunately, a ringing phone interrupts the love fest - its Jane, Tia's mum, calling to say that Kirsha hasn't turned up for the sleepover.
