Erinsborough Hospital
Paige, Jack and Lauren have just given baby Gabriel his first bath, and wheel him back into the hospital room. But Lauren is a bit distracted, thinking about Amber back home. Paige is still struggling with breastfeeding, and asks Lauren why it isn't getting easier. She insists it will get better in time, then heads off to do an inspection of No 32, promising to be back soon.

Outside in the ward, Lauren tells Jack she has got a text from Brad, saying he can't get back from Thailand as all the flights are booked up. Jack doesn't think they should keep the news of Amber's burst appendix from Paige, but Lauren insists it's for the best, and reiterates her request not to tell her about it. Jack looks uncomfortable as Lauren leaves.

Robinson's Motel
Leo, Paul and Steph are having a meeting. Leo says he's found a potential buyer for Sonya's Nursery, which would raise the necessary revenue to compensate him for the damage at the backpackers'. Steph is hostile to Leo pressuring the Rebecchis into selling the nursery, but he says he's trying to minimise the pain by not involving lawyers.

Paul adds that Sonya might have some 'spare change' at the end of it. Steph is annoyed that Paul seems to be going along with Leo's plan, reminding him of what Sonya and Toadie have been going through. Steph adds that the money from the new motel partnership will cover Leo's repairs - they should wait until Sonya's back on her feet.

LEO: Don't I get a say in this?
STEPH: No, absolutely not on this - no. What's next on the agenda?

No 32
Toadie is checking his phone to make sure that 'the flight' is still on time. He admits to Shane that he's worried he might be making things worse by summoning the mystery person to intervene with Sonya. But Shane says he thinks Toadie has made the right call.

TOADIE: If this doesn't work, I've got nothing else.

Toadie heads to bed, as he has to get up early to go to the airport.

Erinsborough Hospital
Jack has got the car ready to prepare to take Paige and Gabriel home. Paige expresses surprise that Amber hasn't been in touch since Gabriel was born - especially since she was so hot at providing pre-birth tips in the preceding weeks. Jack tries to put her off the scent, saying Amber's probably just busy.

Jack then gets a text saying a parishioner has died. Paige encourages him to leave and do what he needs to do - she and Gabriel will wait for him here. As Jack leaves, Piper arrives.

PIPER: Imogen just told me what happened to Amber!
PAIGE: What about Amber?

The Church
Amy is surprised to find that Jack's here, and not at the hospital. He explains he's making funeral arrangements for a parishioner - but he admits he's upset that he can't be there for Paige and the baby. He's contemplating calling the bishop and resigning, but Amy once again tells Jack that he needs to be sure it's the right decision.

AMY: You need to know exactly what you want, before you say anything about this to Paige.

Caravan Park
There's a knock at the door of the caravan, and Sonya clambers over wine bottles to get to it. She's aghast to find her son Callum standing there.

SONYA: My god, what are you doing here?
CALLUM: Hi, Mum. I'm here to bring you home.

Shortly afterwards, Callum hugs Sonya. He explains that Toadie called him and told him what had happened. She insists the caravan is just temporary, and tries to change the subject. But when Callum asks if he can come in, Sonya puts him off, ashamed of the mess of empty bottles that awaits. She goes in to get ready so they can go for a walk; and Callum looks at the bottles piling up outside.

Erinsborough Hospital
Lauren returns with a gift for Gabriel, but Paige confronts her about not telling her Amber was taken to hospital. Lauren assumes Jack told her, and Paige is annoyed to learn he knew too. Lauren says she didn't want Paige to worry about Amber, or worry that Lauren would leave her in the lurch. Lauren admits she feels like she's abandoned Paige already by moving to Queensland.

PAIGE: Mum, it was my decision to stay in Erinsborough, okay? I am fine.

Lauren points out that Paige is struggling with the breastfeeding, but Paige thinks Amber needs Lauren more right now - so has called her and told her Lauren is going home! Lauren looks shocked.

Harold's Café
Steph is trying to get Paul to promise to stop Leo chasing the Rebecchis for compensation money. Paul points out that the deal Leo's come up with is really good, but Steph says that she'll do what it takes to cover the money herself, be it a personal loan or handing Paul back some motel shares.

PAUL: Why would you want to do that?!
STEPH: Because things are really bad for them right now!
PAUL: Yes - yes, we are all aware. But, you know, marital problems do not justify a legal free pass.
STEPH: No, Paul - it's so much worse than that.

She explains that Sonya has skipped rehab to live in a caravan with an old drinking buddy, and is convinced Nell and everyone else is better off without her.

STEPH: I'm really worried that if the nursery goes, she's gonna have even less reason to come back. This is the point of no return for Sonya!

Paul grudgingly agrees to talk to Leo, but says he can't promise anything.

A park somewhere
Sonya and Callum are out for a walk. Sonya's annoyed that Toadie summoned Callum home, apologising for this and saying that what's going on between them has nothing to do with him.

CALLUM: I am glad Dad called. The way you're living - that caravan - you're a mess! Somebody's got to get through to you!
SONYA: Excuse me?
CALLUM: I can smell the wine on your breath, Mum. I saw the bottles! You are throwing everything away so you can hide and drink!
SONYA: Okay, do you know what? I am still your mother, so you don't get to talk to me like that!
CALLUM: Well, somebody has to. I am not gonna sit by and just watch you give up on everything!
SONYA: You don't even know what you're talking about, okay?
CALLUM: Mum, stop lying, okay? Stop! I don't want to hear it! Just sit down! There's a lot I want to say.

Sonya sits down on a bench, and Cal sits next to her.

Erinsborough Hospital
Lauren is packing up her stuff to leave - but Jack tells her and Paige he has thought of another solution. He suggests that Paige go to Queensland with Lauren for a little while too, so Lauren can be around for both her and Amber. Paige doesn't want to leave Jack, but he points out that Lauren can help with Gabe in a way that he can't, like with feeding.

Paige and Lauren are reluctant as Jack will miss out on bonding with Gabe. But he insists they'll have years to do that. Paige still looks conflicted.

A park somewhere
Sonya and Callum are still on the bench. Callum begins on an emotional monologue.

CALLUM: You think that by leaving, Nell's gonna be better off. You know, that she'll be happier without you like I was. But you're wrong. Growing up without a mother - I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
SONYA: It's -
CALLUM: No, let me finish. Now, look - I loved Nan. You know, she was great. But I always wondered why you'd left. You know, there was always this part of me that wondered why - why you didn't love me enough to stay. And then, you know, Dad came along, and things changed. Things got much better, because he chose me. And that was the difference. You know, it really made up for you walking away. And I know you regretted that; and I know you tried to fix it. And I know you only did it in the first place because you loved me.
SONYA (crying): I just really didn't want to ruin your life, sweetie.
CALLUM: Yeah, I know. I know that up here.

He points to his head - and then to his heart.

CALLUM: But in here, you know, there's still that little part of me that wonders what I did wrong to make you leave. Now I don't want Nell to have to grow up wondering what she did wrong to make you leave. And I don't want her to have to make excuses.
SONYA: You know, I really thought I was doing the right thing. I really thought I was doing what was best for you.
CALLUM: I get that. And I know you only did it because you love me, which is why I'm begging you - Mum, go back because you love her. She doesn't need you to be perfect; she just needs you to be there. Mum, please - do it for her. Pull yourself together, and give her the mother I didn't get to have.

Caravan Park
Toadie pulls up in the car, to find Callum walking forlornly towards him.

CALLUM: I'm so sorry, Dad. I tried everything. She's not gonna come home.
TOADIE: Thank you for trying. I'm sorry I got you involved, mate; I didn't know what else to do.
CALLUM: No, I'm glad you did, you know. I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I hadn't tried something. I just don't get it, you know. It's like she hates herself or something. She can't just let herself be happy.
TOADIE: She's in pain, and a lot of that's my fault. Come on, let's go.

They get in the car.

Erinsborough Hospital
Paige has decided to take Gabriel to stay with Lauren in Queensland. Piper has come to say goodbye, and Lauren thanks Jack for suggesting the compromise, saying she was finding it impossible to choose between Paige and Amber. She encourages Jack to come up and visit if he gets a chance. Lauren waits outside while Jack has one last hold of Gabriel.

JACK: See you soon, little man. Be good for Mummy, okay?
PAIGE: I feel so bad, taking him away from you.
JACK: Don't. I'll be fine.

They hug emotionally.

The Waterhole
Paul has summoned Leo to discuss his plan to extract compensation from Sonya. Paul asks him to back off for a while, as Sonya's 'in a pretty bad way'. But Leo is still bitter about the wrecking of his business, especially after he gave up the chance to earn back the repair money by sparing Sonya from further losses at the poker game.

PAUL: Steph seems to think that this is really gonna break Sonya.
LEO: She almost killed my brother! A few more metres and he'd be gone!
PAUL: Yeah, I know, mate - I know.
LEO: No, I'm not sitting back and letting her get away with it! She's not above the law! She's a drunk who got behind the wheel of a car. Why should she be treated differently to anyone else, and what if she does it again?

Leo insists he's not backing down, whatever Steph thinks. Paul nods in resignation.

The Church
Amy finds Jack working in his office. Jack's clearly upset about Paige and Gabe leaving, although he insists it was the right thing to do to let her spend time with Lauren - and that it's not about his feelings for Paige.

JACK: You know, I knew I'd miss Gabe, but - is it always gonna be like this? The impossible choice between my calling and my child? You know, I want to help my parishioners, but - he's my son. And watching him leave today, it was like - you know, I felt like I was letting the most important thing in my life just slip away.
AMY: Does this mean you're ready to make a decision?
JACK: Yeah. I think I am.

He picks up the phone, and calls the bishop, asking to talk...

No 30
Toadie is wondering what to make Callum for dinner, but he admits he's not that hungry. Suddenly, Sonya comes through the door.

TOADIE: Is this a visit, or are you staying?
SONYA: I'm staying.

Thrilled, Callum takes her bags to her room for her.

TOADIE: Thank you for coming home.
SONYA: I'm doing it for Nell, and I'm doing it for Callum.
TOADIE: Yeah. Yeah, I know. But, you know, I'm still glad that you're here. So if there's anything that you need, I'll make it happen, okay? You just ask. It doesn't mean I'm gonna be hanging around, though -
SONYA: You know, what you did, dragging Callum into this - I'm never gonna forgive you for it, do you understand me?
TOADIE: Yeah. I can handle that.

Callum comes back in, and Toadie takes this as his cue to leave, hugging Callum goodbye. Sonya and Callum then hug.

Ramsay Street
Toadie looks sad as he leaves the house, but nonetheless pleased and hopeful about Sonya's return.

Robinson's Motel
Steph gets a text from Toadie, saying that Sonya is back. She replies with a voice message, saying, 'thank god, I'll be home soon'. But her smile drops when she sees what Leo's doing on the computer - he's looking at a letter of offer for Sonya's Nursery.

STEPH: You can't do this!
LEO: It's a generous offer. And I think Sonya will agree. I just need to finalise a few details first.
STEPH: Look, you don't know this, but Sonya's been missing all week. She's just come home today.
LEO: Great - so she'll be able to talk this through.
STEPH: Don't you understand? Her coming home is a huge deal. She's taken a huge positive step towards change.
LEO: It's a shame she had to almost kill my brother to do that.
STEPH: Leo! Sonya has an addiction - an illness. She's starting her recovery, so she needs support more than ever now!
LEO: Isn't accepting responsibility part of recovery? Isn't that what they say at AA?
STEPH: I'm calling Paul - he can deal with you.
LEO: He's on my side (...) I guess with shared genetics comes shared business sense. I made my case to Paul, and he agreed with my argument.

Leo leaves, and Steph looks annoyed.

- Leo tells David he's tried to be generous with 'this woman' and has nothing more left

- Terese seems to have a rash from her engagement ring, and Gary thinks she's allergic to it
- Gary has acquired a new ring. He says he didn't buy it and looks coy when Aaron asks if he stole it!
