- Paul/Brooke going on a date.
- Aaron imploring David to date other people.
- Leo/Amy discussing work to be done at the backpackers.
- Amy denying she's struggling with her feelings for Leo.
- Elly handing Toadie some mail from Sonya and he doesn't look happy at one of the letters.
- Sonya attending an AA meeting/drinking.
- Tyler and then Piper warning T- Bone to stay away from the backpackers.
- T- Bone warning Piper she'll regret telling him to stay away.
As she enters the backpackers with her washing completed, Piper hears noise coming from her room. Thankfully, despite being half scared to death when she goes to investigate, it simply turns out to be Elly looking for Tyler to see if he's seen Leo. The poor lass comments to Elly that she should have just waited for Leo in the common area (he'll be back soon) and not gone looking upstairs. Elly then points out to her that there's nothing stopping her (or anyone else) going upstairs due to no security.
Paul and Brooke are playing nicely for their audience ie. Gary and Terese! Gary is getting wound up and wants them barred from the BBQ as it's supposed to be local businesses and Brooke doesn't work for Paul, but Terese dishes out the reassurance that he will be the better cook.
TERESE: There is no way The Flame Tree could beat us.
GARY: You're right, I'm going to wipe the floor with Paul Robinson.
Piper is insistent that Elly/David/Leo vote for her mum at the BBQ as they hang around chatting at the entrance. Their conversation is interrupted when a backpacker (Jacob) comes looking for T-Bone and Piper is quick to say he's left and suggests that David accompanies him to the BBQ instead.
Once they are alone, Elly asks Leo about his new woman and he explains it's over as she's not leaving now, then goes on to tell her that it's her family who have bought over Harold's. He also admits to Elly that he's not over Amy.
ELLY: Maybe if you pretend you're having lots of fun without her, it will actually happen.
LEO: What like fake it until you make it?
ELLY: Yeah, why not?
Amy is trying to sell Jimmy on going somewhere else but the BBQ however he's promised Kirsha that he'll support her, so Amy relents to them going.
Meanwhile Dipi gives up trying to persuade her eldest into wearing something more colourful for the BBQ and instead asks her to keep the top she is wearing clean. Yashvi gets her own back at her mum though by pointing out that her lucky charm (a wee statue of Ganesh) is vegetarian so won't help them win a sausage sizzle!
Jimmy doesn't know whether to believe Yashvi or not when she claims she can drive especially when she then suggests taking a test-drive of the truck! Kirsha backs her sister up on how long they've been driving for and claims she is the better driver. Much to Jimmy's relief, Yashvi makes on she wasn't serious, and they head off to help set up for the BBQ.
We find out why Toadie wasn't a happy chappy in the last episode - the letter he got was informing him that Sonya is filing for divorce. Aaron comes into his office to remind him of the BBQ but he's not interested in going despite Aaron doing his best to persuade him to go.
Terese welcomes everyone along the Bonza Barbie Bash and explains the proceedings before handing the MC duties over to Aaron since he's no longer got a partner and she's tied up with Gary (the contestants have to be tied together).
Toadie finds his wife (and daughter) in the bar and confronts her about the letter. He's peeved that things have come to this as he'd never rip her off but Sonya decrees she's just following his lead since he set the tone.
TOADIE: My mother engaged that lawyer not me.
SONYA: Well I had the right to figure out where I stand.
Toadie gets that but claims that her demands are unreasonable however that is apparently what she's been advised. He then asks why can't they sort things out between themselves and she explains that she thinks it will be more civilised for Nell's sake that way and that they won't fight about it.
SONYA: I do believe that it's the best solution.
The Bonza Barbie Bash is in full swing and eventually Aaron declares the winner - Harold's Cafe! Terese and Gary are unamused at being in last place behind The Flame Tree!
Dipi declares that Ganesh brought them luck but she can't find the statue anywhere and thinks Yashvi has taken it and heads home to go look through her room despite her protestations she doesn't have it.
Meanwhile while Piper is waiting for Shane to return with the roster for Harold's, T-Bone calls but when she answers her phone, he hangs up on her.
Leo escapes being bored silly listening to Jacob the backpacker discuss what (or what not!) to put on your fries to go talk to Mishti as she cleans up the BBQ. Amy sees them and isn't happy at all.
Toadie decides to bypass using his, well his mother's lawyer, and talk directly to Sonya's lawyer instead.
Sonya stops making the cuppa she was in the process of making and instead finds, and then starts playing with, the clicker thing Steph gave her to relieve her stress.
Toadie pleads to Sonya's lawyer that he has no intention of being obstructive.
The clicker thing is getting a fair old work out! Eventually she puts it down and tells Nell to get her shoes on, they are going out again.
Toadie is getting very irate on the phone to Sonya's lawyer, yelling down the phone:
TOADIE: No, I don't agree to that, I don't agree to any of this, I love my wife and I don't want this divorce okay.
Toad is so irate that he takes his temper out on the things he's got on his desk... which then end up all over the floor.
Jacob invites David back to the backpackers to continue chatting, and after a quick look towards Aaron, agrees to the request and the pair walk off together.
Toadie tells Aaron he's locked up and for him not to enter the office as it's a mess and Aaron thinks he's peeved at him.
TOADIE: Really? Maybe it's because I pay you to do work that I end up doing!
Aaron pleads he was happy to go back to work after the BBQ even though it was a holiday. Toadie reminds him that he should be grateful for the work as this is his only paying employment. "That is unfair," Aaron pleads as Brand Enthusiasm has a lot of potential but Toadie replies it's a distraction and wants Aaron to choose which one he wants to do. "I quit," is Aaron's quick decision and from the reaction on Toadie's face, it's not the option he thought Aaron would choose.
Sonya is unloading her emotions about Toadie to Steph including that she feels guilty about pushing for the surrogacy and then maybe "we might have been able to weather that woman." Steph volunteers to swap night shifts with Paul so she can be at home but Sonya reassures her she will be fine, she's looking after herself and has got her strategies in place.
Steph spots Amy entering the store and is after some advice from her. She wants to know, given Brooke's history and the fact she/Paul are getting close, whether she should be worried. "Brooke has a colourful history," Amy remarks before adding that she's turned over a new leaf so she can make a go of things for Xanthe.
Amy then gets out her phone to show Steph the photo of herself/Paul/Jimmy at the BBQ (on their Facebook equivalent) and as she scrolls down, sees one that Leo has posted of Mishti with the comment HOT GIRL...damn auto-correct...HOT GRILL
Paul/Brooke come into the bar to celebrate beating Terese/Gary. To get away from them, Gary suggests heading to #26 for some Limber Ladybird action but Terese feigns she's tired and plans on heading home to #22 alone and a suggestion he researches some new moves!
TERESE: The ladybird's quickly losing its appeal.
Sonya lets Toadie into the house and is unamused he's come in the middle of bedtime. They start arguing over spending time with Nell and Toadie threatens to go nasty if she withholds access. Thankfully they stop when Nell comes running through, and Sonya says, "daddy was just going," and indicates Nell should say goodbye, however Toadie quickly asks Nell if she wants to stay with him. Nell nods her head and he carries his daughter out of the house (in her jammies) towards #28 leaving a very frustrated Sonya alone.
Gary is surprised to see Brooke home before him and she explains Paul had a meeting to attend before going on to sing Paul's praises and that he's just the man she's been waiting for!
GARY: Guess you're right, he's a pretty good catch, Terese sure did give up a lot lumping in with me.
BROOKE: This really does bother you, doesn't it?
Brooke can't keep up the pretence anymore and tells Gary he's a great man and is worth 10 Paul Robinson's! He is somewhat taken aback by the compliment and wants to know where she is coming from. She comes clean and admits that when she returned, she was hoping to resume their little family unit and so was put out seeing him now with Terese so decided to concentrate on Xanthe instead. However, watching him move on so easily with Terese "hurt a bit," so decided (with Paul's help) to "play a little game." Gary twigs it was to make him jealous and now she has come clean, Brooke says she's happy for him and that he/Terese make a great couple.
Sonya is really struggling to keep it together and does a few things to keep her stress levels down from making a cuppa to playing (again) with her clicker thing. Eventually she gives up and calls for a taxi to take her into the city and then to the Cardinal Bar (where a council function is taking place).
Backpackers (next day)
Piper finds David sleeping on the sofa (Jacob bored him into sleeping!) and when Leo spots Mishti enter, asks Piper to hold the fort.
Mishti isn't too amused at what she perceives to be flirting between them (she's unamused at the photo/comment Leo put up online) but agrees to have a cuppa with him as way of an apology as long as there aren't any online comments about it!
Amy arrives with the planter boxes for the backpackers and isn't happy at seeing Leo with Mishti despite him trying to tell her it's totally innocent. The pair are arguing over moving on (even though both accept they can't be together) and in the background, Yashvi does a quick runner when she spots her aunt outside the backpackers.
Finally, Leo tells Amy to unload the boxes and to not be around when he gets back and she stomps into the Ute very upset.
Back inside the backpackers, David finally comes to and asks where Jacob is and Piper replies that maybe he got sick from all their talking!
As they've been chatting, Amy's Ute has been revved up noisily outside. Suddenly, it reverses into the backpackers via the open front doorway and heads straight for the front desk area where Piper is standing with a panicked look on her face. Piper manages to dive out of the way just in time before the Ute hits her but the force of the impact forces the front desk back into the yellow bookcase which topples over and onto David.
- Leo rushing back to look for David.
- Mark on the hunt for the perpetrator.
- Dipi talking to Yashvi about the accident.
- Leo has his suspicion over who the driver was.
- Leo letting rip.
