Hospital
Susan arrives, and asks Karl about Elly. He says she was very fortunate Mark was there. Susan wants him to go home with her, but claims he has work to do.
SUSAN: Karl, what happened to that woman: darling, you're not to blame.
KARL: We don't know that. If I hadn't have operated...
SUSAN: ...she would have died anyway. You tried to save her.
At the nurses' station, an un-nurse like Jacka is standing, looking disturbed by what he hears.
roll.
Harold's
Jack closes his Bible, and sighs. Amy comes in with Jimmy.
AMY: Brad told me what happened with Paige...
Well, he probably didn't. Jack looks startled.
AMY: You saved her life.
Jack plays it down, but Amy says he's awesome - just like McGyver. From what I remember of McGyver, he tended to use chewing gum and bits of string... Anyway, Jack leaves and Paul arrives with the piece of Jimmy's drone, reminding him to keep shtum. However, Amy has just had a call from the police, enquiring why his drone is "half way across town". Really?
PAUL: Plenty of kids have got drones.
AMY: Not with Jimmy's name and number on them.
Jimmy explains that he lost track of it - and no-one got hurt. Paul takes Amy outside and tells her they have to tell the police that the drone was stolen. Amy says she won't, as she's encouraging Jimmy to be honest. Paul says this is the real world with real consequences.
PAUL: How do you think it's gonna affect Jimmy if he knows that it's his drone that put Steph in hospital, eh?
Jimmy comes out of Harold's at an inopportune moment.
JIMMY: My drone did what?
Paul tries to says it's nothing. Amy looks worried.
Hospital - Paige's room
Tyler is visiting Paige.
TYLER: You may seem like Superwoman, but you can't fly!
PAIGE: And you still can't tell a decent joke.
He says she'll soon be out, and so will everyone else. She says "except Regan" and he tells her not to think about it. She says it's very hard, because she remembers it all so clearly. He wonders if Ned knows, adding it's probably better he doesn't. Paige says it's not Ned's fault.
TYLER: I don't know what on with you and Jack in that shed, but whatever religious talk he gave you seems to have worked. I like you like this. You're nice.
PAIGE: I'm always nice.
TYLER: Mmmm. In a "I might blow up at any second" kind of way. But what happened to that girl?
PAIGE: She realised that you can't control the world. You have to go with it.
TYLER: And the bad stuff happens?
PAIGE: And the good stuff.
Police Station
In a surprising development, Jimmy is giving a statement to an constable (Miles) who isn't Mark. Amy apologises on Jimmy's behalf and asks if it had anything to do with Steph's accident. Miles says no: it was an old muffler. He thanks them for coming forward, and tells Jimmy to be more careful in future. Afterwards, Paul says they should go and visit Steph together. Amy says she doesn't want to go anywhere with him, since he's encouraged Jimmy to lie to her.
PAUL: I know what I did was wrong, but everything turned out fine.
AMY: Not the way I see it.
Hospital
Leo is whinging to David about how their great-grandmother doesn't like him as much as she likes David. David tells his brother to find Jack, since she likes him. Jacka approaches David and asks to see Regan. David says he can't say anything. Jacka says he knows she was in surgery. David continues to be evasive. Jacka says he knows someone died... and David's face gives him the answer he dreads. Paul comes in, recognises Jacka, and he narrows his eyes in the way of all evil overlords.
Aaron and Tyler are in Paige's room, when Paul comes in to warn her about Jacka. She wants to warn Lauren, but she's quite safe: she's Not In This Episode™. Paige refuses to stay in the room:
PAIGE: He tried to kill me, he tried to kill my family. I'm not staying in my room while Jacka's out there.
In another treatment room, Jacka picks up a bag labelled "Patient's Belongings: Regan Davies" He tells it/her that he never wanted to hurt her.
JACKA: I love you. I'm so sorry.
Paige spots him through the partially-open blinds. Aaron and Tyler pin him against the wall, and Paige says she hopes he can live with everything he's done.
In his office, Karl tells David that he's been reported for practising whilst intoxicated, and he has to prepare a response. He says that he did have a few drinks, but David assures him that he had to operate. They hear shouting from the corridor. It's Jacka: he's being taken away by security, and he's asking for Regan's things. He asks Karl if he was with Regan, and Karl tells him he had to operate.
JACKA: It's your fault. You killed her. You're the reason my wife's dead. You're a murderer. You killed her. It's your fault. She didn't deserve to die.
Karl is shaken by his outburst.
Waterhole
Leo asks Jack if he would go and hear his great grandmother's confession. Jack refuses, but offers to arrange for another priest to go. Leo says she would prefer Jack.
LEO: I know she likes your "open ears and pure heart".
Jack says he can't help, because he's not in the right frame of mind. Leo says he's going to "cop an earful" when some other priest turns up.
Hospital
David apologises for not calling the police when he saw Jacka, but he didn't know who he was. Karl says at least Jacka has been caught now. Amy goes for a coffee with David, while Susan talks to Karl. She tells him he can't believe what Jacka said to him. He tells her about the complaint and that it will mean disciplinary action. She reminds him he had no choice but to operate.
KARL: Yeah, that's what I thought. But what if I got it wrong?
SUSAN: Karl, having a few drinks the night before is not gonna impair your medical judgement as a medical professional.
KARL: It might have. If I am found to have overstepped... Well, best case scenario, my reputation takes a hit.
SUSAN: Worst case?
KARL: I could lose my medical licence.
Elsewhere, Amy tells David how Paul had criticised her for being interested in Christianity. David says he's always been interested in religion too. She says Paul's very harsh, and David says at least she knows who her father is. He comments that Paul is a lot like Leo. "Selfish?" asks Amy. David says there's good in everyone - even Jacka
DAVID: Here's a guy who's done horrible things to people. But when I met him earlier, I saw how much he loved his wife. And I'm in no way justifying his actions, but you've got to find and hold on to the good in people.
Jack arrives, and he says he's arranged for another priest. David thanks him and leaves. Jack apologises for how he walked out on Amy before. She tells him she wasn't offended. It must have been difficult nearly losing Paige. He says it's difficult doing God's work when everything is getting on top of you.
AMY: Why don't you do what you always tell me to do and pray? And ask your friends for help and your congregation and... The Big Fella. They're all on your side.
Jack comes into Paige's room, and gives her a hug. He's concerned to hear that Jacka was in the hospital earlier. He tells her that he needs to go to Brisbane to talk things through with the Church. She tells him to take all the time he needs. He's worried about leaving her. She says she's being released soon, and she's just got a few bruises.
PAIGE: But this is big for you. I get it.
JACK: Yeah, I made a promise to the community and the church.
PAIGE: You're still a good person.
Waterhole
Amy and Aaron talk about the capture of Jacka. Aaron says he hurt his wrist. She tells him to ask David to look at it. In fact, they can invite him over to look at it right now!
AARON: Dude, don't go and use my injury so you can hook up with Dr McDreamy.
AMY: I'm not!
Aaron says she should ask him out, rather than trying to use him. She says she has a really bad track record with men, and lists some of her failures. Meanwhile, Aaron says that David must be into it too, as he will be here in an hour.
AARON: You can thank me later babes.
Hospital
The police are marching Jacka through the hospital. Paul (that paragon of virtue) tells Jacka he won't be able to do anything much from maximum security. Paige tells him he won't be able to hurt her family ever again.
JACKA: That's what you think. I hope you like surprises.
Paul and Paige look at each other, puzzled.
Waterhole
Amy is at the bar smoothing down her hair. Leo gives her some tips and asks her if she's on a "hot date". He suggests that she should hang around with him so that the other man would be jealous, and want her even more.
AMY: I doubt it, considering it's your brother.
LEO: Are you kidding?
AMY: Don't look so shocked.
LEO: Then I guess there's nothing more to say except have fun. Though if you ask me you're going for the wrong brother.
Amy laughs.
Hospital
David sees Aaron and he offers to have a look at his wrist. Aaron witters on about how Amy likes David and he's nice and how she's look forward to their date. David looks uncomfortable. Aaron assures him that Amy is "something else"... David keeps hold of Aaron's hand, and they have a Moment™. He goes off to get a nurse, leaving Aaron looking stunned.
