- Ben says he has no reason to break up with Alison, but Piper asks him if he actually likes her
- Sheila tells Xanthe that Ben is worried about her
- Paul has applied for seating for his new restaurant
- Aaron and Tyler are concerned about Paige as she prepares for her first fight against a profession boxer, Angelina
- Angelina's promoter, Lenny, tells Aaron that he will still have to pay her appearance fee even if the fight doesn't go ahead
- Jack tells Paige that Angelina is known for fighting dirty
- Angelina tells Paige that her last opponent ended up in a critical condition
Paige tells Aaron and Tyler what Angelina said, and that she doesn't know if she can go through with the fight.
PAIGE: You know I love boxing, but I just don't want to get my head smashed in. I know that makes me gutless but...
AARON: Look Paige, you don't have to justify it, all right? The fight's off.
Paige leaves. Tyler asks Aaron how he's going to find $12k by the following day.
Ben is chatting/laughing with Madison. Xanthe grumbles to Piper that it's not fair, and that she thought Ben would come back to her after he finished with Alison. She asks Piper to deliver their order.
PIPER: Uh, no. That's your job.
XANTHE: I'll pay you a hundred bucks.
PIPER: You don't have a hundred bucks.
XANTHE: Call it a loan. Please! I don't want to go over there.
PIPER: Your fabulousness transcends any piece of fashion.
Piper encourages her to go over and be her awesome self. Xanthe trips and gets cream down the front of her jumper.
MADISON: Think of it like this. There's no calories if someone else is wearing it.
Xanthe leaves to get changed.
Xanthe is upset, though Sheila points out that Xanthe would be better wearing sensible footwear. Xanthe doesn't care - Ben's not interested now he's hanging out with Madison.
GARY: Stop running yourself down, princess.
XANTHE: It's hard not to when you're surrounded by that level of awesome. I mean, she looks so perfect without even trying. And I try really hard not to try. I do.
SHEILA: I'm not sure two hours in the bathroom every morning is trying not to try.
Gary suggests she asks Madison for help. Terese arrives with a poster for The Flame Tree. Sheila thinks it looks classy. I think it looks like something you could do at home.
SHEILA: And Paul, raking in the money, making a song and dance about what a big fat genius he is.
TERESE: Yeah, maybe. Success isn't always a given though, is it? It all depends on prevailing circumstances.
Piper calls round to ask (shirtless) Tyler about Mark. He says that Mark should be home soon, but she detects there's something else. He tells her how Aaron is going to lose $12k because of Paige pulling out of the fight. He invites her to stay because he's just about to start dinner.
TYLER: I know how much you love to watch me eat.
PIPER: You'll find it right at the top of my hobby list, right under watching Dad whittle.
As "Breathe" plays, Piper watches Tyler at work.
Piper accuses Paige of stuffing up people's lives. Paige says she's not in the mood.
PIPER: I don't think Aaron's in the mood to lose his house, but you don't really care about that, do you?
Paige replies that Aaron said it was OK and Piper doesn't know the full story. Piper suggests that maybe Angelina is trying to save herself. Paige isn't sure, but Piper points out that Aaron will definitely lose his money if she doesn't go through with it.
The Flame Tree
Well, it doesn't look very classy. Paul tells Gary to clean the sign / fix the table/ whatever. Terese turns up for a look round. She wants to see the menu, but Paul says she'll need a booking.
PAUL: ...and seeing it's gonna be the hottest ticket in town, good luck with that.
Paul tells her they are going to be showcasing an exquisite new dish for the opening, but it's a secret.
PAUL: Don't try to hide the fact that you're impressed.
TERESE: Like you're trying to hide the fact that you've dressed up an old patio.
Paul says that everyone will want to be there because Madison is singing. Terese is surprised, but Paul says the devil's in the detail and he knows all about him. Paul wanders off, reminding Gary to order the food and fix the table. Gary puts the order form on Terese's table, saying it looks like a "safe spot".
Xanthe tells Madison she wants Ben back, and she's considering tying herself to the school railings.
XANTHE: I think body paint should be involved.
XANTHE: What, you're not a fan of body paint?
Madison is just not sure it's going to help, but Xanthe's idea is to use the colours of Ben's football team. Madison's still not convinced, and advises Xanthe to do... nothing.
MADISON: OK, if Ben is really interested, then he'll come after you.
She tells her that sometimes you have to be patient.
Aaron tells Tyler that the bank want to speak to all three of them. He says Mark will never trust him again. Tyler assures him that Mark forgives messed-up brothers, and promises to go with Aaron to speak to Mark.
The Flame Tree
Paul tells Gary he almost feels sorry for Terese, as she obviously didn't expect his restaurant to be so sophisticated. (Ha ha ha.) He adds that it's fuelled her crush on him. I'd say he was deluded, except that, sadly, the writers probably have other ideas.
Terese tells Sheila that Paul had no idea she was playing him.
The Flame Tree
Paul tells Gary that Terese has always been attracted to powerful men. Yeah, like Brad. Gary asks if he's sure he's right. Paul says that Terese is just looking for an excuse to be close to him.
Terese says that Paul has given her the all the details of his opening night. So she's planning to make the pigeon race a major event at Lassiter's. Sheila asks what the connection is.
TERESE: It may or it may not be on the same day.
SHEILA: You evil woman!
TERESE: All's fair in love and business.
SHEILA: So they say.
Terese tells Sheila that Paul has booked Maddie, but she's going to make her a better offer. Also, she's found out that they are offering Tasmanian Truffles, so Lassiter's are going to buy all the local supply and give away truffle delicacies at the race. Sheila is impressed.
Paige is chatting to Dustin, who reckons that Angelina has about 50 fights under her belt and probably has some injuries, so she may want to save face. He advises Paige to go through with it. Paige doesn't think she stands a chance. Dustin tells her to use her body and her brain.
DUSTIN: Be in it to win it. Or watch Aaron lose a lot of money.
Xanthe is heading out when she meets Ben, who is going to the school library. She asks what he's doing later, because she hasn't finished her reading for the English assignment.
XANTHE: I'll probably just watch the movie.
BEN: You should probably just read the book.
He explains that they changed the ending, so she says that she'll need someone to explain it. He says he's busy with his essay and maths... so she says she didn't mean him. Then she asks if he wants a study partner, and he says he doesn't want to be distracted. He smiles and walks off.
Dustin is giving Paige some tips as they spar. Aaron and Tyler arrive, and Paige tells Aaron he should have told her about losing the house. He doesn't want her to fight but she insists that Angelina should be scared.
Tyler challenges Piper over whether she told Paige about Aaron losing the house. He tells her that Paige is going through with the fight, and she says she's sure Paige will win. He says he hopes so, and she says she hated seeing him stressed out. They both agree they like hanging out.
Paul approaches Madison to book her for his restaurant opening. She's thrilled that she's had two bookings in one day: his and the pigeon racing event. She tells him to pencil in whenever he wants.
PAUL: It's the same day. Terese has booked you on the very same day!
MADISON: No way.
Yes way. Paul is fuming, and tells Madison to pull out of Terese's event, but she refuses, and Paul stomps out.
Gary is showing Terese a video of his pigeon, and she asks him if they ever get lost.
GARY: The better the breeding, the better they are at coming home.
TERESE: I vaguely remember my mum saying something similar when it came to men.
Sheila shouts to Gary that she's got his drinks, and at the bar, she tells him that Terese is flirting with him. Gary says she's interested in pigeons, but Sheila says he's clueless. Paul comes in and accuses Terese of sabotaging the opening of his restaurant.
PAUL: You are shameless.
TERESE: Oh, from the man who invented the word.
Paul tells her she's going to regret what she's doing. Yawn. Gary returns with the drinks.
Ben tells Madison that he feels bad about the situation with Xanthe. Xanthe comes to the door (which is open) and she hears Madison tell Ben it's just a white lie or two.
MADISON: And it's for the greater good. Let's go to your room and get on with this.
- Sheila sees Ben hugging Madison
- Xanthe and Ben are not even friends
- Paul asks Gary if the pigeon race is his idea
- Bree tells Ned that "she" misses him
