Harold's
Amy and Terese have an awkward chat, when Amy gets a phone call. It's obviously bad news.
Lassiter's complex
Amy asks Steph and Mark if they can look after Jimmy a bit longer, as Paul's in hospital. They agree, then Steph tells Mark that Paul asked for protection money and she refused.
MARK: Steph, this is not your fault.
Nearby, Jimmy asks Charlie if he wants to play a "dice game", which consists of a series of dares, some easy, some harder.

Ben and Angus are playing guitar and keyboard. Xanthe is purporting to play the euphonium. Aaron is enthusiastic, but doubts they will make enough to pay Tom. Xanthe suggests a payment plan, and Aaron says he will see if Tom will agree. The band are having a few artistic differences, but Aaron tells them they need to start raking it in... now.
Hospital
Paul has been beaten up and a concerned Karl offers to try to arrange a transfer. Paul declines.
PAUL: I'll just be locked up with another bunch of criminals and have to go through the initiation process all over again
Amy arrives, and Karl tells her that Paul doesn't want to see her. She tries to hide her disappointment.

At the end of the song, Ben plays a guitar solo, but Angus isn't impressed.
ANGUS: Me and Aaron agreed that we stick to recognisable crowd pleasers. Key word: recognisable.
BEN: This way we can do popular songs, but with our own spin on it.
ANGUS: I think we should stick to what we're good at, like good vocals.
XANTHE: Are you deaf? Ben has been rocking it out like a guitar hero. I vote for more of that and less of your cheesy singing.
ANGUS: That's what sucks about democracy: some people shouldn't get a say.
Susan arrives with refreshments, and Angus and Xanthe argue while Ben tries to keep the peace. Angus decides to quit, and Susan goes after him. Ben asks if she had to be so hard on Angus, and she says it was his fault.
Lassiter's complex
Charlie and Jimmy are coming up with dares (including "eat a live worm" from Jimmy, much to Charlie's disgust). Nearby, Mark offers to look after the boys for a couple more hours, and Amy gratefully accepts. Jimmy rolls the dice, and the first dare is "steal something". Mark offers to take them for a tour of the police station.
Harold's
Terese asks Amy about Paul, and she says he will be fine.
AMY: I have to admit, I'm pretty surprised you care.
TERESE: OK, listen, I want you to know that if I could take back what happened with Cecilia, I would.
AMY: Well, that's something.
TERESE: I believe Paul is guilty, but I don't believe that his harm was intentional.
AMY: You still care about him.
TERESE: No, I... I just care that he was targeted in prison, that's all.
Terese tells Amy she can tell Paul that, but Amy says Paul won't see her, so maybe Terese should try and tell him herself. Terese looks thoughtful.

Susan asks Ben to reconsider having Angus in the group. He says he doesn't think Angus and Xanthe can sort out their differences, but Susan asks if making money is really more important than friendship. Ben agrees to talk to Xanthe.

Steph is still worried about not giving Paul the protection money, but Mark says it's never a permanent fix. He points out that Paul is not likely to be worried that she is $100k down because of him. Steph asks the boys to play volleyball. Charlie agrees, but Jimmy says they are playing a game. He shows Charlie the pepper spray he stole from the station. Charlie says he has to take it back, and gets up to go for a swim, but Jimmy says he's worked out the next set of dares...
Lassiter's park
Terese tells Susan that Amy accused her of caring for Paul. Susan points out that they were very close.
TERESE: I don't know how I feel. One minute I'm really angry with him, the next I'm worried about his welfare.
SUSAN: A complex situation, that's for sure.
TERESE: And, you know, if I'm worrying about him, does that mean I'm dishonouring Josh and Doug's memory?
SUSAN: You know I think you've just got to give yourself permission to try and work out how you do feel.
Terese says that Amy suggested she go and see Paul. Susan asks if she feels able to, and Terese says it might give her some closure. Maybe he will feel able to admit what he did...
No 30
Mark and Steph come in. Jimmy and Charlie are still playing their dare game. Jimmy pepper-sprays Charlie, who rolls around in pain.

Ben plays something on the guitar and Xanthe says it will work as a duo. Ben says he's thinking of asking Angus back in the group as he "wasn't that bad". Xanthe says there's no chance. Ben tries a couple of arguments and Xanthe wants to know why he's pushing so hard. He says he's not.
XANTHE: I know when you're lying, Benjamin.
Ben tells Xanthe about Sarah, then says that Angus doesn't know.
XANTHE: The kid deserves to know the truth.
BEN: Please don't tell him.
XANTHE: If this was my mum, I would wanna know.
BEN: You can't tell him anything. You gotta promise. And just... be nice to him.
Hospital
Amy arrives, and asks Steph if Charlie is OK. Steph says that he's uncomfortable, but there's no permanent damage. Amy says she doesn't want Jimmy to know Paul's there, as he would be upset, though he doesn't talk about it.
STEPH: Maybe that's why he's acting out.
AMY: That's overstating it a bit, isn't it?
STEPH: Well, stealing from a cop station is pretty serious.
AMY: I know, but it was a one-off.
STEPH: (scoffs) It's not like he took a pen or a stapler, Amy, he took a pepper spray. It's a weapon.
Amy points out that Charlie was there too, and that boys tend to dare each other. Steph says Charlie was the one who got hurt.
Hospital treatment room
Karl finishes treating Charlie, telling him not to rub his eyes. Steph tells him that Mark has had to report the incident to work. Jimmy says that he's really sorry and says he won't do it again. Amy tells him he won't get off lightly. Jimmy goes over to Charlie and apologises, then tells him he's thought of some new dares.
No 28
Angus arrives, and Xanthe apologises profusely, and offers to make him something to eat. She tells him that she and Ben both want him in the band.
XANTHE: Ben is definitely willing to compromise.
BEN: You bet.
XANTHE: Yeah, and, you know, if the audience gives us money then I am more than happy to go with your ideas.
ANGUS: You're sure?
BEN: 100%
XANTHE: 120%
She says all they have to do is think of a name, so how about "Xanthe and the Boys"? "Dream On" says Ben, which she thinks is a good idea. Angus is bemused by the whole conversation.
Hospital
Terese arrives to see Paul. She says she's sorry for what's happened to him, and she apologises for bribing Cecilia, saying it was dishonest, and a wrong thing to do. He agrees that it was. She hopes he can be also be honest, and own up to what he has done.
TERESE: Once I have that, I think I'll be able to let go of all the anger. I'll be able to find a way to forgive you.
PAUL: Forgive me? I don't need your forgiveness, because I haven't done anything wrong. I've just been beaten to within an inch of my life. You might be able to move on, but I'm about to spend the next 18 years behind bars for a crime I did not commit. Forgive me? I don't forgive you... and I never will.
No 28
Xanthe apologises to Angus again, and then asks him out to Grease Monkeys. He asks why she's being nice.
XANTHE: Can't a girl be nice for no reason?
ANGUS: Not really.
She says she thought he might be missing his family, and she looks uncomfortable when he mentions his mother. He asks if her mum is OK, and she says her mum is fine.
XANTHE: It's your mum. She's not in Germany for a job. She's getting treatment. Angus... your mum has cancer.
Angus is horrified.
