Apartment 8, Blue Water Complex, Anson's Corner aka Paige's flat
A panic-stricken Paige is in the flat when she gets a call from Mark. He says he's got a tip-off which may be a link to the robberies.
MARK: It's nothing for you to worry about.
Paige looks distinctly worried, and makes a call to someone, saying she's in trouble and needs their help. Oooh it's a mini-cliffhanger before the credits! It's actually quite effective...
Appartment 8 / Lassiter's grounds
...and she tells Paul that it was all about revenge.
PAUL: Bad people exist. What can I say?
She admits that she was "stupid enough" to put the lease in her name, and that the victims of the robberies were customers she surveyed at Harold's. He says that the police have to get a search warrant so she has time to get rid of the goods, and advises her not to answer the door if the police arrive.
PAUL: I'm telling you, this is your only shot to get out of this.
Terese approaches and Paul ends the call, saying he was talking to an old contact.
Harold's - outside
Lauren tells Steph that she and Brad kissed, but they caused a lot of heartache. Steph points out that time has passed so Lauren agrees, saying that now she hopes that she can salvage her friendship with Terese. She adds that if there were no complications, she is sure that she and Brad would be together.
STEPH: You've got that awful job of deciding whether to follow your head or your heart.
Blue Water Complex / Harold's
Paige calls Paul and tells him that everything is in the skip. He tells her she'll have to move them somewhere safer. Just then, Mark knocks at the door of the flat. No-one answers, so he leaves. Paul tells Paige to borrow Lauren's car and move the stuff. Dimato arrives, and asks Paul if he has anything to tell him.
Harold's
Dimato tells Paul that he and Michelle put a lot of effort into the set-up.
DIMATO: How do you think that made us look, having a bunch of amateurs sell us out to the cops?
PAUL: Ooh, I'd say incompetent, unprofessional.
DENNIS: And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!
No actually, he didn't say that. He tells Paul that it's hard to make a go of things without powerful friends. Paul says he can look after himself, and besides Dimato will soon be leaving. He tells him he's recorded every conversation they'd had, and his parole officer isn't going to be too impressed by what he's done.
DENNIS: You're bluffing.
PAUL: Am I?
Lassiter's grounds
Brad and Lauren meet on a bench. She tells him she loves him, but she doesn't think they can make it work. She points out that they have to think about their kids, their grandkids and Terese. He says that Josh has given his blessing.
BRAD: At the end of the day they want our happiness.
LAUREN: Not if it's at their expense. At the end of the day, I can't do that to them.
Josh is wandering nearby, then watches from behind a nearby tree. He sees them hug. He smiles, wrongly assuming that they are back together.
Ramsay Street
Karl and Susan are walking home, dragging their cases. Karl is carrying the Blue Box™. Sonya is surprised, saying she thought the whole thing was paid for, and Karl tells her he refused to pay the bill. Susan says it was supposed to be paid for - for them, but not for all the things they sold on to friends. Just then, Toadie comes up the drive on crutches. Everyone is thrilled.
No 32 garden
If you remember, Paul told Paige to "get rid" of the stolen items. So obviously the most sensible place to put them is in the shed of the house where you live. Mark arrives, and Paige quickly shuts the door of the shed. He tells her that the tip-off was about stolen goods being stored in a flat.
MARK: After going through the paperwork, I realised that it's rented out to you. Why is that?
She admits that she leased the flat for Michelle, and offers him a spare key. She tells him that Michelle is back with Dimato and she tipped off the police. He is angry that she didn't trust him over Michelle, and asks if she has anything else to tell him.
MARK: We are about to get married. We have to be honest with each other or we have no chance of making this work.
Waterhole
Terese tells Josh that Brad has sent her some flowers. She assumes they're to congratulate her for her nomination. Josh asks if she's sure about the reason for the flowers, saying that he had suggested to Brad that he should get back together with Lauren. Then earlier, he had seen them together at the lake. Terese is upset, saying that's obviously why they've been so nice to her.
Police Station
Dimato is signing a document, and Mark asks him what he knows about the tip-off about the stolen goods. Dimato says it was probably kids making a prank call. Mark tells him whatever he had planned, it's over, so Dimato says he's going to Sydney. Mark says he's glad to see the back of him.
VIEWERS: Likewise.
Lassiter's complex
Paul is impressed that Daniel kicked Karl and Susan out for not paying their bill. Daniel says he's pleased that Paul's around to give him advice. Paul wryly points out that his career is "down the gurgler".
DANIEL: Your career isn't over. It's just on hiatus.
He tells Paul to invest his energy in something positive, and he'll get back on top. He leaves, and Paul looks sadly at the Lassiter's logo on the hotel.
Waterhole
Karl and Susan are having dinner with Sonya and Toadie. Sonya goes to get drinks and she goes over to congratulate Terese on her nomination. Terese says that Lauren just nominated her out of guilt, the same reason Brad sent the flowers. Sonya asks if she wants to get back together with Brad, and Terese says no, so Sonya tells her to concentrate more on herself than him.
SONYA: You need to start investigating what makes you happy. I mean, who are you outside of this marriage, Terese? Because I know for a fact there's more to you than Brad and Lauren.
TERESE: Yeah... thanks.
Harold's
Mark tells Paige that the flat was empty, and that Dimato was leaving. Paige tells him he was right about Michelle - she was never her friend. Mark says he's her friend. They hug. He leaves, and Paige goes over to Paul, who tells her that he bluffed Dimato. He asks about the stolen goods, and she says they're in her shed.
PAUL: Oh, you're keeping them? Interesting twist.
PAIGE: No, I am going to return them. They're all customers from here. I was hoping to find out who they are, and then return their goods.
PAUL: Instead of just telling Mark and letting him sort it out?
PAIGE: Yeah, well, he already thinks I'm an idiot for the whole apartment thing.
PAUL: Ah, trusting relationship. How refresing.
She asks why he's helping her, and he says he doesn't like how Dimato works. The only way to get ahead is on your own terms.
No 22
Terese and Paul are chatting and she tells him how she used to have a glass of wine when she felt stressed, but now she has a bath.
PAUL: Self-pity is not your style. Leave that to that wet weekend of a husband of yours.
He tells her to do something productive, as that will make her feel better, and meanwhile he will make dinner. She kisses him.
PAUL: Um... where did that come from?
TERESE: I guess I just wanted to see what it was like. I'm going upstairs. Are you coming?
She walks towards the stairs, leaving Paul looking thoughtful.
Unmissable Drama
- Terese looks mortified
- Paul and Terese smiling
- Daniel and Imogen almost kiss, then he does some Michael Jackson type dance moves
- Terese sees Brad and Lauren together
- Paul looks smugly at Brad
