Terese gets a call from Lou. She tells Brad about Matt, and he finds it impossible to believe, having spoken to Matt after the accident.

No 32
Over "Lights are Low" there is a montage of images of a heartbroken Lauren, Bailey, Paige and Lou. Terese and Brad arrive, and Terese hugs Lauren.
Outside, Daniel brings Amber a drink. She asks him how Danni could have been so stupid, and why she drove off. He tries to persuade her to go inside.

AMBER: I don't want to go inside. I just want my dad back.

She throws the mug against the wall and smashes it.

Harold's
Susan leaves a message for Lauren, then goes over to talk to Nate. He tells her about Chris and the baby.

NATE: First I'm his boyfriend, then a co-parent and then I'm this person who's happy to take a back seat while takes all the important life decisions.

He says he's been happy to compromise, but he's just about reached his limit.

No 26 garden
Chris has left a message for Amber and he comments to Lucy that he doesn't know what he'd do if he lost one of his parents. Yeah, tactful, as he realises. Lucy says she barely remembers her mother - as far as I know, her mother died in childbirth, so it's quite impressive if she remembers her at all. Anyhow, Lucy comments that it's hard to be to sad with the labrador around. (It's the one which was by the well earlier in the week.) Chris says they are trying to trace the relatives of the owner. Lucy asks if he's going to come with her for her ultrasound. He says he wouldn't miss it... She asks about Nate, but Chris doesn't think it's his thing.

No 32
Lou says that Danni has got bail - which Terese can't understand - and that she's very remorseful. Brad says it's a bit late for that and he tells Lauren he's sorry.

BRAD: I was on the road. Matt pushed me out of the way. It should have been me.

(later)
Lou asks Lauren if what Brad said upset her.

LAUREN: I don't blame Brad. How can I? Matt was just doing what he's always done - looking out for other people.

Lauren picks up Matt's jumper and gets upset because she always used to tell him off for not putting it away.

LAUREN: I can't remember if I said goodbye to him before I kissed him. Dad, I can't remember.

She sobs as Lou hugs her.

Terese asks Brad if he's OK. He tells her that he and Matt were arguing about Sharon.

BRAD: I couldn't tell her. Should I tell her?
TERESE: Sweetheart, listen to me. You can't tell Lauren about Sharon and Matt. Her heart's broken enough as it is.

Brad says that he has to take some responsibility for what happened. Terese points out that it was Danni who was driving and texting. Brad still feels guilty and goes off for a walk.

Hospital
In Karl's absence, Georgia is doing the ultrasound for Lucy, with the proud dad looking on.

CHRIS: It's like a tiny little bean.
LUCY: It's OUR little bean.
CHRIS: Wow. This is really happening isn't it? I'm actually going to be a dad.
LUCY: Yes you actually are.

No 32
Paige comes in to see how Bailey is doing, and she finds him working on funeral arrangements. She suggests he leave it and do something else, and she will organise it.

BAILEY: Because you have all the family contacts, right?
PAIGE: Well, no.
BAILEY: Cos you know what kind of service Dad would have liked? What kind of flowers... whether he wanted to be... buried or cremated?
PAIGE: No.
BAILEY: No. Because he wasn't your dad.
PAIGE: Fair enough. But I'd prefer to help.

Penthouse apartment
Chris says it's weird: the labrador is a direct descendant of a labrador that lived in no 26.

LUCY: Bouncer? My Bouncer?

Lucy asks what's going to happen to "Bouncer II", and Chris says she'll have to an animal shelter. Lucy says that is not going to happen. They agree to find her a good home.

Accident site
Brad examines a bouquet which has been left.

Paige is sorting out some food for dinner, and suggests a walk after dinner. Bailey says he's in if his mum is.

PAIGE: Mum? You want to come with us?
LAUREN: (gasps)
PAIGE: I... don't know where that came from. I'm really sorry.
LAUREN: "Mum" sounds perfect to me.
AMBER: I agree.
BAILEY: Same.

The family all hold hands.

Waterhole
Nate is not happy to hear that Chris and Lucy have already been for the ultrasound without inviting him. Chris thinks it's time for an honest conversation. Nate says it feels like what he wants doesn't count. Chris says he hopes being close to the baby will bring them closer together.

NATE: Being close to YOUR baby, you mean.
CHRIS: OUR baby.

Nate says he knows Chris wants kids, but he doesn't - and he doesn't want to move to New York.

CHRIS: When two people love each other, you make compromise, right?
NATE: I love you, but that's a compromise I'm just not willing to make.
CHRIS: So where does this leave us?

Nate shrugs.
