A new year and new logo, titles and theme music too! There is also a change in how the characters are depicted with the character and actor names appear onscreen.

We begin with the Rebecchi family (Sonya, Nell and Toadie) and next are the Willises (Josh, Terese, Imogen and Brad). Lauren then appears with Paige and Amber while Matt is with Lou and Bailey. Paul and Daniel are next up followed by Naomi and Sheila, and then Kyle and Georgia. The boys (Mark, Chris and Nate) hang out with each other before Karl and Susan bring up the rear.

Ramsay Street
Gary tries to get a quick getaway but his plan of a simple exit is foiled when he spots his sister, thus he takes a detour through the gardens instead.

Naomi is reluctant to head indoors when she arrives at the house and her behaviour has drawn the attention of Karl. After explaining why shes reluctant to head indoors, he tries to reassure her that Sheila will be waiting inside to give her an apology.

NAOMI: My mum apologise?! You've met her right?!

You can't avoid her forever, he points out before leaving her to head for work, well once he finishes the call hes taken.

Number 26/Ramsay Street
Naomi enters the house and immediately spots her mum lying on the floor. When she fails to rouse her, she rushes back out to get hold of Karl.

Karl enters the house and his initial diagnosis is that Sheila has had a heart attack and hands Naomi his mobile so she can call an ambulance while he places Sheila into the recovery position.

Harold's Store
Mark is on the phone reassuring Toadie that hes got nothing to worry about after bringing him up to date. Sonya enters the store and tells him that Erin isn't well and is fearful that shell relapse. He isn't happy that Sonya wants to go back and see her tomorrow as Erin obviously doesn't want her help but Sonyas mind isn't for changing.

Hospital
Kyle and Georgia rush into the hospital and Naomi updates them about Sheila and adds that she can't get hold of Gary either.

Karl arrives and confirms that Sheila has had a severe heart attack and that they've put a stent in (to improve blood flow to the heart) but wont know the extent of the damage until the blood work is back. He also wants to know who was last to see her (Gary) so he can discover how long she was down for before Naomi discovered her.

Erin's squat (inside)
Erin is coughing away when Mark arrives and makes it clear to him that she doesn't want Sonyas help. Good, is his reply and tells her that it would be best for everyone if she leaves Erinsborough especially since she doesn't want anyone's help in getting better.

During their conversation, Erin has continued to cough and Mark asks her how long shes had it (a couple of days) so wants her to come with him to see someone to get it looked at.

Hospital
Naomi is feeling guilty at walking out on Sheila given what happened but Kyle tries to spin it that she actually saved her by finding her. Gary arrives and Naomi updates him on how his mum is and that Karl wants a word too.

Gary explains to Kyle where he was (heard of a job opportunity) and why hes got a big bag with him (job was out of town and involved an overnighter) but when Kyle pushes for more details, he clams up citing that hes stressed.

Outside in the corridor, Mark is shocked to hear the news about Sheila from Georgia as he waits while Erin is in seeing Karl. Karl has diagnosed a mild chest infection and Mark thanks him for seeing Erin. While Erin registers herself, Karl expresses his concern to Mark about her being malnourished and he confirms that shes been sleeping rough. That has to stop, Karl says or the chest infection could turn into pneumonia.

Harold's Store
Erin wants to know why Mark is suddenly helping her especially since he previously wanted her out of town! His explanation is he's just doing what Sonya would have done had Erin given her a chance and wants to know how serious she is about turning her life around. What's it to you, she initially replies and he explains that hes helping Sonya after she helped him through a bad patch. Erin then announces that she won't be returning to the squat, the Salvos have a place opening up in the city and she leaves to head there, turning down his offer of a lift.

Hospital
Karl is asking Gary questions about Sheila before he left the house and it would appear that Naomi discovered her fairly quickly after Gary left. He plays down how stressed his mum was, simply saying that she was tense when he left but cites that he can't remember when Kyle pushes for a reason why. Karl is satisfied with the info hes obtained and leaves them and Naomi heads back into the room to sit with her mum.

Kyle wants answers from his dad, like was he going to skip town without telling him and he also can't believe that Gary has forgotten his last conversation with his mum. Mate, my mums in hospital, cut me some slack, he pleads and Kyle immediately backs off.

Erin's squat (outside)
Mark isn't too surprised to see Erin back at the squat and wants to know why she lied. To get you off my case about leaving Erinsborough, is her reply and confirms to him that there is nowhere else for her to go as the shelters are all full and shes nobody to turn to bar Sonya, which he immediately says is off limits to her. After thinking about it for a bit, he goes back to her to say that there is one other option

Ramsay Street
which is living with him in #24. Sonya is happy shocked to hear that when she spots them on their arrival back at the street. When Mark explains to her why hes done what hes done, she admits to him that she is mightily relieved.

Number 24
Mark shows Erin her new home and her first request is to have a shower. While she heads off to the bathroom, Mark confirms to Sonya that hes fine with his decision although admits that he doesn't expect to trust Erin immediately (and why hes put his wallet back in his pocket rather than leaving it on the kitchen counter). Sonya is amazed (and chuffed) when Mark fills in more of the details that he took her to see Karl and that for her recovery she needed to eat properly. I really think staying here is going to be the turning point for her, Sonya explains but Mark warns that its only a temporary measure; Erin will need to find somewhere else in a few days.

Hospital
Kyle panics when he sees is dad/auntie sitting out in the corridor when he returns after a food run but Gary explains that they've been kicked out to let the docs do more tests. Gary is about to tell them something but Naomi thinks its to say that it was her fault Sheila is in hospital.

KYLE: Come on, Gran would have had a fight with one of her garden gnomes if she could! This isn't down to the one argument you had today.
NAOMI: I caused my dads heart attack and now I've done it to her. What kind of person does that make me?

Gary interjects to say it wasn't her fault its his!

GARY: Mum was upset today because of something I did.
NAOMI: What did you do?
GARY: Before lunch, she saw Paul Robinson give me money, he paid me to give Ezra Hanley a scare.
KYLE: You did that?!

Gary confirms that Sheila confronted him about it and that she wanted him to confess but he couldnt. The penny has now dropped for Kyle, he's worked out why his dad was leaving town. Gary explains that Sheila probably had the attack right after he left.

GARY: So if anyone's to blame it's me.

Kyle is irate at Brad being implicated and the consequences of that with Gary doing a runner. Its what I was told to do, pleads Gary. Naomi tells her brother that he just doesn't learn and wants him (for the first time in his life) to own up and take responsibility. Kyle is confused with Naomi saying again and she decides its time to fill Kyle in on his dad he was the getaway driver for the McKenzie brothers robbery and did a runner after the brothers were caught.

NAOMI: He abandoned his entire family to protect himself and now hes doing it again.

Naomi has had enough and walks away and Kyle asks his dad if what she said was true and Garys silence says it all.

(Later)

I'm not proud of what I did, Gary tells his son and tries to explain it by saying that life hasn't dealt him the best hand. He adds that he regrets leaving because he missed out on time with Kyle.

KYLE: If you regret it, why you making the same mistakes? And why would you get involve with someone like Paul Robinson?

Garys explanation was he was trying to help Kyle to get his business up and running again. Kyle is quick to say that doesn't make things right, a point Gary concedes but adds in that his intentions were good! That isn't washing with Kyle and asks his dad if he knows how awesome its been having him around (he does) and he was just going to disappear again without saying goodbye. Was I ever going to see you again? Kyle asks his dad and Gary admits hed not thought that far ahead.

KYLE: I knew this was too good to be true. I wanted you to come back for so many years, now you're here I just want you to go.
GARY: Look son I'm a screw-up, no doubt about it but I hope you know I love you. Always have.

Gary then picks up his bag and walks away. Kyle then digs out his phone and calls the police to say hes got information on the assault on Ezra Hanley.

Unmissable drama
- Mark uncomfortable at having someone living in his house that he can't trust.
- Sonya wanting Erin away from temptation.
- The police coming to talk to Gary.
- Naomi not happy at her nephew.
- Gary spilling the beans on Paul.
- Tim warning Paul he's in a whole world of trouble!

With the titles now showing the character/actors name it's just the guest name(s) that appear in the credits now over a computer amended aerial shot of Ramsay Street (the backyards of #22, 26 and 32 reflect the backlot sets rather than how the real Pin Oak Court houses are).
