Erinsborough Hospital
Chris reassures Kyle that Georgia's going to be ok. Kyle isn't as sure as she was bleeding. Nate says the blood was bright red and not dark - it was oxygenated - it's probably a good sign. Kyle hopes he's right. Susan arrives and asks what's going on and Chris explains she wasn't breathing very well and there was blood - they're waiting to hear more. Susan reassures Kyle that she's sure they're looking after Georgia. Nate tells Kyle she probably burst some stitches and he should take some deep breaths and count slowly, in for four, out for four.
Karl arrives and tells Kyle that Georgia's back in surgery. He asks what's wrong with her - Karl explains that the incision has opened up again. Kyle asks how - Karl says the throat's a delicate area, these things can happen. Kyle says it was a routine operation. They've caught it though and Georgia should be back in recovery in about an hour's time. Karl says he has to see other patients and Kyle is frustrated he has to sit here and wait. Nate says they left Georgia's room in a mess and Kyle should go back and tidy up. Susan agrees it's a good idea and offers to help. Nate tells Chris the wait won't be so long if Kyle keeps busy. Chris thanks Nate for doing it and Nate isn't fazed.
General Store
Amber is looking at the car keys and wondering if Imogen is randomly being nice or reaching out - Daniel doesn't know but he thinks it's good either way. Amber's a bit shocked. Daniel points out that stranger things have happened - look at Paige. Amber thinks she got Paige way wrong. Amber is amazed she gets to talk about her sister. Daniel thinks sisters are awesome - he can't wait for Amber to meet his sister, Maddy. Amber doesn't think that's going to happen very soon unless she comes down here. Daniel asks why not. Amber explains that uni preferences are due and soon she'll be locked in for another three years of study. She doesn't think she'll be travelling. Daniel suggests she blows it off - Amber is surprised. Daniel doesn't mean permanently - she could enrol in her course and defer indefinitely. Amber isn't so sure. Daniel explains that uni isn't going anywhere - he suggests it could be a gap year to recover from Year Twelve. Daniel suggests they travel the world together - anywhere they want. They could drop in on a place, hang out and then move on again. Daniel suggests they bail on their jobs that afternoon and look up prices online.
Paul arrives and Daniel tells him he's going to take the afternoon off. Paul reminds him about the Dental Association conference - Daniel's got a job to do. Daniel will get someone to cover his shift - Amber is more important than dentists. Paul says Amber can wait - he can't let the events team down.
Erinsborough Hospital
Kyle tells Georgia she nearly gave him a heart attack. Georgia tries to talk and Kyle stops her. She's here now though and she's good. He's going to be right here with her to make sure she stays that way. He thought he was going to lose her - he doesn't know what he'd do but he's not going to find out.
General Store
Daniel tells Wendy she's a lifesaver over the phone. He tells Paul Wendy's covering his shift and Paul thinks he can't just get someone to cover his shift. Daniel points out Wendy needs the extra money and he wants the time off so he doesn't see a problem with that. Paul says it's his attitude - reliability is a key factor in building a strong personal brand. Daniel laughingly says he doesn't have a personal brand.
PAUL: Well you should have because that's how you get what you want. By showing up on time, staying late and working harder than everyone else.
Daniel knows that's what fires Paul up and he respects that but his priorities are different. Amber is where he wants to be. Daniel kisses Amber and leaves to make sure everything is good at the hotel.
Paul sighs and asks Amber to help him turn Daniel around on this and she says it's just one afternoon. Paul understands how the world works. Daniel might not like it but he can't ignore it - not if he wants to achieve anything important. Paul thinks that Amber understands that so he needs her to talk to Daniel. Amber is unsure - Paul points out they want the same thing which is to look out for Daniel. Paul asks Amber to think about it and then decide whether to say anything.
The Waterhole
Chris tells Nate that he needs to buy him a drink to say thanks for what he did before. Nate doesn't think he did anything. Chris thinks he did. Toadie comes over and asks how Georgia is. Chris has just spoken to Kyle - they've corrected the problem, Georgia's awake and Kyle's with her now. Susan checks there's no more bleeding and Chris confirms this. Toadie thinks they should have a round in Georgia's honour and Chris says it's his shout. Nate says Chris can get the next one - the round is on him. Chris tries to disagree. Nate says it's been a stressful day and Chris needs to be with his friends and let Nate look after him.
Toadie invites Chris to try his luck at pool. Susan comments that Nate's handy to have around in a crisis and Chris agrees. Chris thanks Susan for her advice the other day - he was too quick to judge Nate. Susan thanks him for listening - Nate needs good people around him. Mark questions why she says this - Susan says because they all do.
Lassiter's Reception
Amber arrives to see Daniel. Daniel goes to leave and Amber tells him to wait. She's been thinking about what Paul said and she thinks Paul might be right. Daniel thinks Paul is Paul and they are them. Amber knows what he means but asks if it's a bad thing if they took a rain check on this afternoon. Daniel asks if she wants to bail on romance and spontaneity. Amber doesn't so Daniel says they should go. Amber points out that they have commitments. Daniel's biggest commitment is to Amber. Amber feels the same but they can still be romantic and plan things. Daniel thinks if you don't follow your heart... Amber still wants to go places with him. Daniel thinks she doesn't without planning and warning. Amber asks him if it's important to consider Paul's feelings - taking this job seriously is important to Paul. Daniel wonders if Paul has got in her ear. Amber admits he has but only because Paul cares about Daniel. Daniel thinks he'd better get back to his job. It's bad enough his uncle is trying to change him but he doesn't want his girlfriend doing the same.
Erinsborough Hospital
Karl tells Sandra he can't thank her enough for her and the team for what they've done. Sandra points out that's what they're there for. Karl points out they got Georgia back into surgery so quickly and got the situation under control. Karl says Sandra's now officially his favourite theatre nurse and she asks if she gets a prize. Karl laughs and says his appreciation will have to be enough. He says he'll have to thank Miss Girwood as well - they'd be lost without her. Sandra says she has another surgery to go to and Karl asks if he's missing something here. Sandra says she's not the person to speak to and Karl points out she was in there and has seen a lot of these surgeries. Karl also points out that Jessica said the original surgery went perfectly - the wound could have opened up on anyone. Sandra says it's not her place to comment on surgeons - she says she's sure everything's in the theatre report. Karl asks if something happened. Sandra says she has to go and leaves. Karl looks through to Georgia.
General Store
Amber can't believe how packed her roster is. Bailey has seen it and tells Amber she's Lauren's slave. Amber asks why he doesn't have this many shifts - he says it's a gift. Amber says she has almost no time off in the next month. Bailey doesn't think it's true - she's got blocks for study. Amber wonders where the time for spontaneity is - Bailey says it's between never going to happen and good luck with that. Amber says it can't all be about school and work. Bailey says it will have to be - Lauren spent forever making that. Amber points out Lauren didn't talk to her about it - what is she supposed to do with this? Bailey thinks she should deal with it. Amber hands Bailey her apron and tells him she's really struggling with stomach cramps. Bailey asks which ones - the ones she just got and tells him to cover for her. Bailey says her roster isn't his problem and she says it is now.
Number 32
Amber puts her backpack on the sofa and packs it with a towel and food.
Erinsborough Hospital
Kyle tells Georgia he made her a really cool playlist on the iPod just in case the hospital telly gets really boring. He got her some magazines as well but he wasn't sure which ones she liked so he bought them all. Georgia writes him a message telling him he's so sweet.
Karl comes in and asks if everything's ok. He tells Georgia they're going to keep her in for a few more days - they'll gradually decrease the pain relief and complete a course of post operative antibiotics. Kyle asks what he can do to help. Karl says Kyle can give Georgia a lot of love and attention which he seems to have covered. Toadie agrees and points out that smothering might be an issue. Kyle is still a bit freaked out - he wants to know if the surgeon said why the wound opened up. Karl can't tell them anymore - it's just one of those things. Georgia writes a message saying she's spooked too and Karl says it's understandable. Toadie asks if this is common - Karl says it's not common but it's not unheard of. Kyle says it's behind them now and Karl agrees.
Lassiter's Reception
Daniel is working on reception and Amber comes in. He asks what she's doing back here. She says she's asking the questions and Daniel agrees. She asks if he's ready - he asks what for. She tells him it's for adventure and can he handle romance? Daniel thinks he can. Amber questions this and he confirms he knows so. She asks about spontaneity and he is pretty good with it. She doesn't think so from where she's standing - he's still standing behind the desk. He follows her and she asks if he wants to go with her. He agrees and she tells him to go and get changed.
The Waterhole
Whilst playing pool - Mark asks Nate where he learnt to play so well - he says it was nowhere special. Mark comments he's lucky he didn't have any money on it but Nate never plays for money. Mark asks him what he does for work - Nate is in between jobs at the moment. Mark comments he took the guy down tidily the other day and asks him if he's been in many fights. Mark says Nate's good with his fists and Nate says he knows how to defend himself. Mark doesn't think it's a bad thing. Mark asks Nate where he's from - Nate's from Karartha, WA. Mark realises it's a mining town - he thought the handy guys were flocking to them, not leaving them. Nate says he wasn't for him. Mark comments he doesn't know Karl and Susan very well - what brought him here? Nate says it was a friend. Mark asks if it was a close friend and Nate wants to know if it's important. Mark says he was just making conversation.
Chris comes over with the drinks and tells Nate to ignore Mark. Chris had seen Mark giving Nate the third degree from the bar. Mark has to make a phone call so tells Chris to take his shot. Mark rings someone and asks them to find out some information about Nate Kinski and to let him know if anything turns up.
Beach
It is dark. Daniel asks what this place is and Amber tells him it's the best kept secret near the city - a friend told her about it. She asks what he thinks about it - he thinks it's beautiful. She says there's a swimming hole through the trees and he says she's incredible. He asks what made her change her mind. Amber says it was what Daniel said about romance and spontaneity and trying to change him - she couldn't stop thinking about it. Daniel comments they've had their first fight and Amber agrees. Amber was really upset. Daniel didn't want to upset her. She knows he didn't but Paul was right - they have got responsibilities. She then thought about following her heart and it led her back to Daniel. Daniel is glad. Amber says he makes her feel alive when she's with him. She invites him for a swim. He packed so fast he didn't bring bathers - there's a downside to being spontaneous. Amber asks why they would need them - that is the upside to spontaneity.
Erinsborough Hospital
Kyle has brought as much as he could carry - including a duvet and some clothes. Georgia writes him a message asking if he brought the kitchen sink and Kyle thinks she's funny! Kyle was trying to make it feel like home. Toadie realises Kyle went through his DVD collection and Kyle explains a girl needs a nurse and that's Kyle. Toadie points out Georgia's a nurse and there are plenty of qualified nurses here. Kyle points out he'll need the practice for when Georgia comes home as he's decided to move in with them. Toadie thinks he and Sonya can manage as Kyle is just across the road. Kyle points out Georgia needs someone fulltime. Toadie asks if it's Georgia's call - her message asks if Toadie minds. Toadie says he can't really say no! Kyle goes to ask the nurse if Georgia can have ice cream yet as he raided Toadie's freezer.
Toadie says outside the room that he knows it was a bit of a shock but isn't Kyle going overboard? Kyle thinks he maybe is but he's just trying to make things right. He thinks Georgia wouldn't even be in here if it wasn't for him. Kyle pushed Georgia into the surgery. Toadie says none of it is Kyle's fault. Kyle still thinks it is and he's going to make things right. That's good news for Georgia, Toadie and Sonya. Toadie questions this. Kyle says he won't be taking a free ride whilst he's staying at Number 32 - he'll cook every meal. Toadie isn't so enthusiastic.
General Store
Bailey comes out of the kitchen and drops some of the food off the plate. Susan comes and asks him if he's not having a good day. Bailey says he was until Amber made him take her shift. Susan thought he would be in his element - look how well he improvised his presentation at the story slam. Bailey thinks it was how well Susan did. Susan doesn't think it was her - she just nudged him in the right direction. He points out she doesn't have to help him with this - actually whatever she wants is on the house. Bailey points out he was left in charge so he has to improvise and Susan laughs.
Mark comes in and Susan notices his face is not one of a pool champion. Mark comments that Nate is a shark and wiped the floor with him. Susan is surprised and comments that she learns something new about Nate every day. Mark comments that Nate isn't the easiest guy to get to know. Susan doesn't think Nate is an extrovert. Mark asks if Nate mentioned what he did for work in Karartha and Susan says Nate didn't. Mark asks Susan if she finds that a bit strange and Susan asks what's on his mind. Mark comments that Nate's got some pretty interesting skills. He can fight, he's very aware of his environment, he doesn't talk about himself very much. Susan points out those things could be said about Mark. Mark says he gets a weird vibe. Nate says he came to town to visit a friend and when Mark asked him about it he got defensive. Mark says his gut doesn't steer him wrong - he's definitely hiding something. Susan admits that Nate has shared why he's in the area - she's not going to betray his trust. She wants Mark to believe he's got nothing to worry about. Mark hopes she's right. Susan confirms she is.
The Waterhole
Karl confirms that Paul addressed it head on. Paul agrees that some things are too important to muck around. Karl asks if Daniel appreciated it. Paul thinks appreciate would be a bit strong.
Beach
Daniel and Amber are sitting around a campfire. Amber says this is just the way she wants things to be and Daniel agrees. Amber says it was their first fight and she would like it to be their last. Daniel agrees but he would still like to do the kiss and make up part.
The Waterhole
Paul admits that Daniel's a good kid. He's misguided in a few ways but he's got a good head and a good heart. Karl confirms that Paul isn't too worried. Paul agrees Daniel will do alright especially now that he's with Amber. Karl asks if Paul likes her. Paul does and he's surprised. He thinks she's good for him.
Beach
Daniel knows that Amber's got stuff she's been working towards so if she wants to go to uni that's cool too. Amber wants to do what's right for her and Daniel agrees. He says she'll be great at it and he'll be right there beside her.
The Waterhole
Paul says that Amber grounds Daniel. Daniel can be a bit flighty and knowing Amber will rein him in is a relief. Karl asks if Paul is still a bit worried about Daniel. Paul is worried - Daniel's the only family he's got right now and he doesn't want to lose him.
Beach
Amber says she really wants to take a gap year. Daniel checks this is what she wants. Amber says she can go to uni when she wants - what's one year - what's five years?
The Waterhole
Karl says that Daniel loves Paul. Paul can only control his own behaviour. Paul can't steer Daniel's course anymore than Daniel can steer Paul's course. Paul thinks it's good that he's got Amber as his keep Daniel in line insurance policy and smiles. Karl asks what Paul's smiling about. Paul thinks that who would have thought Matt would have paid dividends one day.
Beach
Daniel confirms this is what Amber wants to do and Amber confirms it is. Daniel suggests they go travelling together. Amber wants to travel, romance and spontaneity. Daniel shouts they're going to see the world.
Number 28
Susan is collecting washing in the basket and takes a shirt out of Nate's bag. She discovers a Swiss Army knife in Nate's bag.
Wooded Path
Chris apologises about Mark. Chris explains that Mark is an ex-cop so grilling people is how he makes a conversation. Chris says it's a beautiful night. Chris suggests they go for a drink. The scene cuts back to Susan holding and examining the knife. Nate agrees to go for the drink.
