Previously on Neighbours
- Paige wondering why Brad and Lauren gave her up.
- Paige realising that Brad/Lauren aren't together (as a couple).
- Sheila helping identify who followed Naomi.
- Holly identifying the mystery man Kyle saw on the CCTV footage.
- Karl telling Kyle he should go to the police with the CCTV footage.
Police station
Kyle is at the station telling Matt about what he found and is told that Victor is definitely a person of interest in the case. Matt also adds that he will be looking into the connection to Paul.
Penthouse suite
Matt is round to question Paul about the new information. He denies knowing Victor and when Matt raises his confession (Gus' death), plays on that he wasn't in a fit state of mind when he gave that statement. "Well maybe Victor saw things differently," Matt suggests and went after Kate as some sort of revenge. "That's not possible," Paul replies and disputes the fact that it was Holly who ID'd Victor (she knew him because he spent time with her/Izzy in March). Matt eventually persuades Paul to come down the station to answer more questions even though he still insists that the link is via Mark.
Harold's Store
Paige persuades Mark that he really does want some raspberry cake when he came in just for a coffee and Lauren is impressed with her sales tactics! Once Mark leaves, she decides to subtly ask how Lauren knows Brad and is told that they are old friends and that he lives across the road from them in Ramsay Street.
Josh reassures Amber that Bailey will be fine after their chat as they enter the store. Lauren rushes over to greet them as she is after Amber to work for a couple of hours to show Paige how to do a stock take (Lauren has something else to do) and somewhat reluctantly, Amber agrees to the request.
The Waterhole
Entering their bar after their self defence class, Sheila wonders why Naomi isn't taking them seriously, commenting that when she got spooked she hung onto every word the instructor said. Naomi is still almost laughing it off, so Sheila tells her about something that happened in Frankston years ago when she'd gone out looking for Naomi.
SHEILA: This is why I want you to take this stalker thing seriously.
Rebecchi Law
An upset Naomi seeks Toadie out to tell him about what Sheila said but he stops her, commenting that he'd a colourful past too and so doesn't need to be told and shows his support of her by way of a bear hug.
Police Station
Matt informs Paul that he's spoken to Izzy who has confirmed she met Victor (after he got out of prison following a 9 year stretch) but didn't realise until later that it was Gus' brother. Paul still thinks it's nothing and doesn't want to take it seriously but Matt plants the seed into his head that it was a revenge killing for Paul taking away his brother. As Paul goes to leave, he stops and has a flashback to 2004 and the complex going up in flames.
Lassiters Complex
Josh hands Matt the list of addresses that the mulch ended up at while he/Doug were looking after the yard.
Harold's Store
Paige tries to smooth things over with Amber including promising not to go near Josh! She also brings up Brad, which puzzles Amber initially but then when Paige mentions that when she first arrived it looked like Brad/Lauren were a couple, Amber confirms that they were years ago and that it was messy but doesn't want to say more as she wants to get the stock take completed.
Mark overhears Kyle/Georgia talking about the new lead and immediately wants details. Kyle tells him that they are looking at a new suspect and adds that it's got nothing to do with him, the connection is Paul.
Penthouse Suite
Paul leaves a demanding voicemail to Izzy wanting her to call back. He's continuing to have flashbacks too and is shocked to see Mark appear in the apartment. Paul dismisses the new lead and denies Mark's accusation that he knew about it all along and just kept quiet.
PAUL: Why would I do that?
MARK: Because you're the kind of man who would rather blame somebody else than take responsibility for their own actions.
Paul is met with silence when he asks Mark what he is supposed to have done but is then told to take it seriously and tell the detectives everything he knows.
MARK: If she's gone because of you, I will never let you forget it.
Harold's Store
Amber is still anti-Paige (because of Josh) as they continue the stock take. She also gets very protective of Lauren when Paige tries to push her with the questions. Lauren arrives back and can sense the tension but Paige says it's down to her making a mistake, so is told to sort it and get the stock take done.
Rebecchi Law
Naomi bemoans the type of guys she is picking up over a cuppa with Toadie. Sheila arrives to get Naomi to go to the station since her stalker might the new suspect but she doesn't want to go in case she is wasting police time. Toadie backs Sheila up, so the pair of them head to the station.
Harold's Store
Lauren wonders what Toadie has done since he's in buying flowers but is told it's to cheer Sonya up.
Josh takes Amber off to go watch the police search that is underway thanks to the info he provided and since they are alone, Lauren wants the real information about what the argument was about from Paige.
PAIGE: I may or may not have accidentally called her a guard dog.
This initially amuses Lauren until Paige then goes onto say that Amber thinks she is going to mess Lauren around because of what she's gone through lately. "In that case I apologise on her behalf," Lauren replies adding that Amber can get a bit overprotective. Paige is intrigued and pushes for Lauren to explain, which she does and explains that she went looking for someone she'd lost but didn't find her, hence why Amber said what she did. "It took a huge toll on me and my family," Lauren adds. "But you're still searching?" Paige enquires and asks why not when Lauren shakes her head.
LAUREN: Well I just decided that sometimes the past should stay in the past. I think it's best for everyone if we just move on.
Erinsborough hospital (exterior)
Amber is bemoaning to Josh about Paige as they walk to the hospital to see the ongoing search. He's letting her rant off and keeping silent but eventually she asks him outright if he likes her or not. She picks up on his hesitancy in reply but its more due to how he can tactfully put it that she won't get annoyed with his reply!
AMBER: Right, so you do like her even though she hit on you?
JOSH: Simple answer? Yes I do but I love you! Always have and I always will.
This seems to make her happy and they go off to watch Matt and the other officers searching.
Harold's Store
Paige is puzzled by the doodle drawing Lauren did on the notepad when she was taking an order down on, so she explains it's how she imagines the customer to look like as she is talking to them. Lauren apologises to Paige if Amber offended her and thinks they'd get along really well if Paige would give her a chance. "She's fine," Paige quietly replies while continuing to transfer the order Lauren took into the order book. Lauren doesn't think the facial expression conveys that so Paige replies that she doesn't think she will be hanging around Erinsborough for as long as she previously thought because of something Lauren said - about putting the past behind you and moving on.
PAIGE: I think I need to do the same thing.
Lauren seems genuinely shocked and wishes she'd kept quiet especially since she's one of the best workers the store has ever had but doesn't want to stand in her way if she's determined to go.
Lassiters Lake/Number 24
Paige sits down on one of the benches and digs into her bag for a book - a book that contains sketches of people including one of Lauren as if almost trying to match the drawing Lauren did to the one of her but it's not a match.
As 'My own' continues to play, the lyrics blend in perfectly with Paul looking around the complex and the flashbacks to the complex being torched.
And at #24 Mark does some research online into the Lassiters fire.
Erinsborough hospital (exterior)
Kyle/Georgia arrive at the search and ask Josh/Amber if there has been anything found. Josh replies no, and not at any of the other addresses either.
JOSH: If they don't find anything here it's a dead end.
Just as Josh is beginning to feel remorseful for him/Doug not being able to finish the job, something is discovered in the mulch... a gun and in a bag very similar to one we've seen before!
MATT: Get onto ballistics.
Penthouse suite
Matt reports to Paul that the rifle used was the one involved in Kate's death and with the CCTV footage, Victor Cleary is the likely perpetrator. "All we need to do now is track him down and arrest him," Matt adds. Paul is sitting very silently, almost in a daze and Matt asks if he heard what he said.
PAUL: Yes I heard.
