Previously on Neighbours
- Paul smashes up Charlie's following Kate's death, but Terese is keen to press on with the refurb
- After Doug goes AWOL, Karl runs tests for Alzheimer's - but Brad denies the possibility
- Matt volunteers to strip off for Lauren's art class, but thanks to Lou half of Erinsborough shows up!
Community Centre
A towel-clad Matt surveys the suddenly inflated art class with horror. As if having Susan, Lou, Margie the waitress, and a raft of extras present to watch him disrobe weren't enough, Sheila suddenly shows up.
SHEILA: Oh, good, it hasn't started yet!
LOU: I saved you a seat.
SHEILA: Thanks!

Sheila makes it disturbingly clear she's here to perve, and Lauren is worried for Matt, whispering to Susan that it was meant to be just her. Susan explains how Lou bolstered the numbers, while Lou gleefully reminds Matt that he has 'a lot of money riding on this'. Lauren tells Matt he doesn't have to go through with it, but he insists it's fine - and is about to take the towel off, when the fire alarm goes off!
Outside, the bell continues to ring. Sheila is directing everyone out of the building, and Lou accuses Matt of having been about to chicken out. Matt, still in only his towel, insists he would have gone through with it. He's about to head back inside to get his clothes, but Sheila stops him.
SHEILA: Not on my watch.
Bailey turns up out of nowhere, and Lauren kisses Matt, thanking him for trying. Sheila, who for some reason has taken control of the whole scenario, tells everyone to stay outside until the fire brigade has declared the building safe.
SHEILA: The constable here...
MATT: Senior constable!
SHEILA: ... He'll keep an eye on things, and you can keep an eye on the constable's things!
Sheila bustles off as the fire engine's sirens approach.

In the garden, Amber and Josh are smooching in the pool. They discuss Amber's photography gig tonight at Charlie's, or whatever it's called now - the bar's new name still hasn't been revealed. Josh comments that the refurbs are pretty smart, and suggests that he, Imogen and Amber all have a joint birthday party there, since her birthday is pretty close to the twins'. Amber kisses him, and says it will be the best party ever.

Doug is doing a Sudoku puzzle in the newspaper when Brad offers him a cuppa. Doug makes it clear he's trying to keep his mind active, but Brad reassures him that there's probably nothing wrong. Doug explains that his memory problems were what led him to stop drinking, but that it didn't help.
DOUG: I can't remember names. The things I did yesterday. It's like being on a road with no bridge. Like you can't get across.
Brad erroneously tells Doug that the brain is 'a muscle' and that it's good he's keeping it active. But Brad insists that he thinks Karl's wrong. There's a simpler explanation than Alzheimer's - Doug's just getting old. He invites Doug to come to the Charlie's reopening tonight, and Doug reluctantly agrees.

The senior constable is back in uniform! Lauren believes Matt found a way to set the fire alarm off to spare his blushes, and demands to know whether he paid one of his colleagues to set it off! But Matt insists it was nothing to do with him. Bailey comes in.
BAILEY: Actually, he didn't, Mum. I did.
LAUREN: ...
BAILEY: Well I knew you didn't actually wanna go through with it. Not in front of half the smartphones in Erinsborough!
MATT: Ah. Good point.
Bailey also tells Matt about Lou's bet with Lauren, and how he tried to get as many people there as possible in order to win. Lauren and Matt tell Bailey not to set off any fire alarms in future, as it's illegal etc, but Matt thanks him anyway. He goes out.
LAUREN: So you really would've gone through with it. Even in front of all those people?
MATT: Yes, I would've. And even in front of all those people, it would have just been for you.
They kiss.
Charlie's
Sheila has done a mock-up of a sign featuring her new name idea for the bar, much to Terese and Daniel's amusement.
PAUL: I am not naming the place after you.
Terese pesters Paul to tell her what the bar will actually be called, but he still hasn't decided yet. Daniel asks why he's having so much trouble making his mind up.
PAUL: Before Kate died, I asked her to come up with a name. Except, she never got the chance, did she?

Terese moans to Brad about Charlie's not having a new name - she's worried that, since she's in charge of the project, she's going to look ridiculous. Brad mentions he's asked Doug to come along to the opening, but Terese isn't so sure it's a good idea. She also tries to persuade Brad to tell his mother, Pam, what's going on with Doug's health. But Brad is still in denial, and says Doug will be okay if everyone just left him alone. He stomps off.
Lassiter's
Paul and Daniel come in, to be stopped by hapless underling Glen, who presents Paul with a large package that's been delivered for Kate. The package is from a graphic design company in West Waratah, and Daniel goes to open it. Paul and Daniel gaze in awe at the contents, but we don't get to see it.
DANIEL: Whoa.
PAUL: Of course. It's perfect.
DANIEL: She must have arranged it before she died.
Paul looks emotional, and they head upstairs.
Charlie's
We're treated to a long, slow walkaround of the new-look Charlie's as the opening night kicks off. Sheila serves punters at the bar and Amber assists her boss Rick as he takes photographs. Sheila is in a garish golden outfit, and Rick is none too pleased when Amber invites her to come and have her photo taken, telling Amber that in future she should keep it to 'the best-looking people' as they're supposed to be promoting the place.
Doug, Brad and Josh come in - but while Brad is at the bar getting drinks, Doug gets in the way of one of Rick's photos. Rick starts shouting at him when he doesn't move quickly enough. Doug becomes disoriented and he ends up knocking one of Rick's expensive camera lenses off a table. Rick continues to shout at Doug, while everyone stares.
RICK: Someone obviously left the door to the nursing home open.
Brad and Josh are angry at the way Rick's speaking to Doug - who is left feeling terrible, and decides he shouldn't have come. Still confused, he asks Brad to ring Pam and get her to pick him up, forgetting she's thousands of miles away in Darwin.
Later, Lou, Terese and Sheila are discussing Doug - Lou thinks the signs aren't good, and laments about the cruelties of old age. Suddenly, Paul takes the microphone and makes an emotional speech.
PAUL: I have actually been under a bit of pressure to come up with a new name. And to be honest I had a bit of trouble. But I did get some unexpected help. I'm sure that many of you remember my niece, Kate Ramsay. Well she came up with a new name. Well, it's actually an old name, that harks back to the days when Jack Lassiter first arrived in Erinsborough. So tonight, I decided to honour the past whilst looking to the future. Something that I'm sure both Jack and Kate would have wanted. So please, I welcome you all to...
He and Daniel remove the veil from the sign Kate had produced by the graphics firm.
PAUL: The Waterhole.
Everyone claps.

Brad and Josh worry about Doug - apparently he wasn't making much sense when Brad put him to bed, and was apologising repeatedly.
JOSH: Rick's the one that should be apologising. He's lucky I didn't punch his lights out.
BRAD: And that would achieve what exactly?
JOSH: The way he spoke to Pop was messed up. The guy's such an idiot.
BRAD: Yeah, well punching him out is not gonna change that.
JOSH: ... Pop's not okay, is he?
BRAD: I used to climb on his shoulders when I was a kid. That man was as big as a mountain. Now he's disappearing right before my eyes. It's the weirdest feeling, you know? It's like I'm the father and he's the child.
Josh puts a comforting hand on Brad's shoulder.

Matt comes in, and shows Lauren photographs of him in a towel, which were plastered all over the station when he got to work!
MATT: And apparently, I'm a 'meme'. Whatever that is.
LAUREN: Matt! Imagine if Bailey hadn't set off the alarm. I mean, these photos would be X-rated!
MATT: You see the lengths I'll go to to make you happy?
LAUREN: Oh, you do make me happy.
MATT: How? By being dependable and reliable?
LAUREN: And considerate, and supportive. How could I be anything other than happy?
Matt admits his offer to pose was partly selfish - given everything that's happened with the revelations over Lauren and Brad's daughter, it was his way of 'staying in her orbit'.
LAUREN: I could never let you out of my orbit. Not even if I tried.
Lauren decides they don't have to go to the Waterhole opening after all, as she has a much better idea. They grin at each other mischievously.
Shortly afterwards, Matt is in his birthday suit - completely this time (albeit tastefully positioned behind G-rated items of furniture)! They try out a number of poses, and Lauren is finally settles down to her own private sketching session. That is, until Lou walks in, and is horrified by the sight of his naked son-in-law!
LOU: I'll come back later.
He does a swift U-turn and walks out again. Matt and Lauren laugh.

Doug comes downstairs, still feeling guilty about having smashed Rick's lens and embarrassed Brad at the party. Brad tells him he has nothing to be sorry about.
DOUG: I think I've come to terms with what's happening to me.
BRAD: Well we both have. And I'm not going to let you go through this on your own.
DOUG: I never thought you would. So - where do we start?
BRAD: I'm gonna call Mum. And I'm gonna tell her to catch the next plane down here. It would be good to have the family together again.
DOUG: I'd like that.
They hug.
The Waterhole
Paul, Daniel and Sheila admire Kate's new logo for the Waterhole.
DANIEL: That's a really nice name.
PAUL: Mm, it is.
SHEILA: I still think Sheila's would have been better.
Josh comes in, determined to confront Rick about the way he treated Doug. Amber tries to convince him to calm down. She says the lens Doug smashed was worth $4,000, which is why Rick was so angry, and that confronting him now will only make things worse. But Josh just gets angrier and angrier, especially when Rick barges past them, making a barbed remark about Amber socialising.
AMBER: You know how much this job means to me. Please, just let it go.
Amber kisses Josh and walks off. But as soon as he's alone, he notices Rick's camera sitting on the table - and decides to erase all of the photographs from the evening!
Monday on Neighbours
- Amber deduces that Josh deleted the photos, while Rick continues to boss her around
- Sheila is suspicious about Naomi's friendship with Toadie
- Pam arrives, but denies Doug has Alzheimer's - telling the family there's another explanation
