Number 28
"So good having you home," Susan tells Zeke even if she wasn't happy he put the empty milk container back into the fridge! She tries to suggest some things they can do together while he's in town but he doesn't seem keen and seems surprised she doesn't appear to do much things now. When Zeke runs to his room to take a call, both Karl and Susan wonder who keeps calling him.
Number 30
The Rebecchi family are having a celebratory brekkie after sealing the deal yesterday when Naomi arrives wanting Toadie to sign some papers. When Sonya heads to the bedroom to answer her mobile and Cal to his to continue playing Dragon Prophecies, Toadie admits to Naomi that he hated lying to Sonya last night. Naomi thought he might so has lined up dinner for them at a Chilean restaurant and in return for being nice, gets the go-ahead to have some boxes delivered to the office.
After Naomi leaves, Sonya returns and tells Toadie about the call - it was Matt and he wants her to come down to the station.
Lassiters Complex
Paul isn't pleased to see Mark on the hotel grounds but he was there fixing a patron's car, and is firmly told (since he's finished the job) to get off the premises!
As Paul makes his way back to the hotel, Naomi catches him to see if he can pop into Rebecchi Law as Toadie needs to talk to him about Kate's estate. Paul replies that he'd rather call Toadie to see what it's about than visit him.
Harold's Store
Zeke tries to suggest some things Susan can do to fill in her spare time but she finds excuses for all he comes up with. When she (and Karl) head to the counter to pay for their food, Cal comes over to see if he wants to hang out with him/Josie. Zeke turns the offer down as he's got other plans and moments later leaves everyone as he's suddenly got to go meet someone but refuses to say who.
Lassiters Complex
Karl bemoans to Susan as they leave Harold's about Zeke being very mysterious and wonders about his comment earlier to Cal about not being on the market for a girlfriend. Just at that, they spot Zeke talking to some guy at the other side of the complex and when he comes over to them, says it was just an old friend from school that he was catching up with. Susan is puzzled as the guy didn't look familiar but Zeke is wondering why he's getting the third degree from them. "Just curious that's all," Karl explains.
Rebecchi Law
Toadie asks Paul if he knows anything about Kate's will and his reply is, "why would he need one at all?" Toad explains that she'd one drawn up after becoming Harry and Sophie's legal guardian and has left everything to them. We find out now why Toadie wanted to see Paul - Sophie wants to have her sisters stuff shipped up to Sydney and Toadie asks Paul to facilitate that happening. Paul is peeved Sophie hasn't called to ask him to do that herself but Toadie explains she's tried but couldn't get through hence the call to him.
PAUL: You know what? You can tell Sophie that I have absolutely no intention of packing up Kate's things.
TOADIE: Paul...
PAUL: No. No, this is not happening. None of this should be happening because Kate should be here. She should... She should have her things. Sophie calling you is unforgivable. This has got nothing to do with you. This is my family.
Harold's Store
Susan/Naomi run into each other as they try to exit/enter the store and engage in conversation over how their day has been. Naomi tells her about Paul coming to see them about Kate's estate and his reaction to that. Susan isn't surprised by Paul's reaction, commenting that he's got a small support network which he usually pushes away.
NAOMI: So coping with emotional stuff isn't his strong suit that's what you're saying?
SUSAN: I'm saying with Paul sometimes you have to just let him charge through that china shop and hope there's a few plates intact at the end.
Lassiters hotel
Naomi catches Paul in the foyer before he goes up to the penthouse and after empathising with him over Kate's death, volunteers to be the one to pack up her things for sending to Sophie. "And what's in it for you?" he asks and her initial reply is "nothing" before adding that he could also see it as compensation for having to deal with her mum for so long!
NAOMI: Come on, Moneybags. I know how difficult this sort of thing can be. I want to help you.
The lift arrives and Paul makes no attempt to reply while he waits for the lift to empty.
Number 28
Karl is desperate to know what Zeke is up to and Susan is desperate to stop him from finding out as she thinks he'll tell them in his own time. When he looks at Zeke's computer (on the pretence of Skyping Rachel) Karl finds the name 'Vic' and a message Zeke's started to write - from the first time I saw you I knew you were the one for me.
KARL: It's all making sense.
SUSAN: What is?
KARL: The guy we saw him talking to. That must be Vic, Zeke's boyfriend.
Rebecchi Law
"Wow, that was a long coffee run," Toadie comments when Naomi finally returns to the office with the coffees and is shocked when she explains the delay - that Paul has given permission for Kate's things to be packed up.
TOADIE: I thought we'd have World War III on our hands.
She downplays the significance of it but Toadie is mightily impressed!
Lassiters Complex
Mark has a flashback to Kate being shot as he pauses by the lake/rotunda after being on a run. Sonya spots him and heads over and tells him about her visit to the police station and explains that despite what she said, there's not enough evidence to support Paul's complaints. "Thanks," he replies but then adds that he doesn't care about anything just now before resuming his run.
Number 28
Susan and Karl are still wondering who 'Vic' is and if Zeke is gay. Karl wants to read the rest of the letter but Susan vetoes that as it's private and if Zeke's got something to say, he'll do so when he's ready.
KARL: No. No. No. We have to talk to him. We have to tell him we love him and support him and hopefully that'll get him to open up.
SUSAN: Fine. But the last thing I want to do is make him feel uncomfortable.
Harold's Store
Paul is shouting Naomi lunch for her help with Kate's things. "Happy to help," she replies and offers her services if he needs someone to unload to and he does that by admitting his frustration that the man who did it (and who brought him into their lives) is getting away with it. "That's out of your hands," if they've got reasons to be here (in reference to the bit about Mark) she replies and suggests he stops focusing on him.
When Naomi goes to get them more coffee, Paul calls someone to get information on a franchise that he wants to act on straight away.
Number 28
Karl and Susan have obviously decided to have 'the chat' with Zeke!
KARL: Mate, we just wanted to let you know that if you ever needed to tell us something then, uh, we're here for you.
ZEKE: Uh, okay. Thanks.
KARL: It's just that we don't often... Get a chance to tell you this but Susan and I love you very much.
ZEKE: And I love you guys.
KARL: Good. Good because, you know, we're always on your side.
ZEKE: I appreciate that.
KARL: Good because it's important for you to know that you can tell us anything.
ZEKE: Um... Well, I, um...
KARL: Yes, mate?
ZEKE: I'm good. I'm good. But, uh, great chat. Thanks.
Cue three embarrassed faces and not surprisingly Zeke leaves the sofa and Susan gives Karl one of her menacing looks!
Rebecchi Law
Taking a quick break from working, Toadie accidentally sees how much money Naomi owes and again says to her he can't give her any more money until it starts flowing into the business. She's okay with that and comments that she's got not destitute and has a fall back plan too. "Sounds intriguing," Toadie remarks but she doesn't embellish on it, instead thanking him for allowing her to have the boxes sent (they're piled up in the reception area).
When Toadie heads to Harold's for a coffee hit, Naomi goes through the contents of one of the boxes and admires one of the paintings that is in it although personally it just looks like random splodges of paint on a (small) canvas!
Number 28
Karl is exasperated that Zeke isn't telling them that he is gay but Susan thinks if he'd kept quiet it might have encouraged Zeke to "open up in his own good time." "I just wanted to reach out to him," pleads Karl but she's not having that, she thinks it was Karl trying to force him to say something that he's not yet ready to discuss.
Unknown to them, Zeke has heard the tail end of their conversation and retreats into the hallway to call Vic.
Various places/Lassiters Complex
Music montage time as accompanied to Trembling hands, we see Mark out running in various places before he ends up at the lake to be met by Paul asking why he's not keeping away. "I'm not in the mood for another fight," Mark replies and it would seem that neither is Paul although he does ask why Mark is still around. Mark begins by saying he's looking after the garage for Danni until Paul points out that obviously isn't correct as its shut.
PAUL: Which I've got to say, between you and me, I'm not entirely happy about. You see, as the future owner of Fitzgerald Motors I expect certain standards and irregular opening hours? No, I can't be having that.
Mark is struggling to understand what Paul's said, so he explains that he just put in an offer to buy the garage.
PAUL: So you better start packing your bags because the very first thing I'll do when I take over ownership is to sack you.
MARK: Let me get this straight. First you're shutting me out of the investigation and now you want to take my job away from me.
PAUL: Oh, not just your job...everything. I'm not going to rest until you're gone... for good.
