Road somewhere
Kate can't get away from thinking about her problems even when she is out running and because she isn't fully concentrating, almost has a run in with a car that has suddenly opened its passenger door. She manages to avoid it but runs instead into a tree when she had to suddenly change direction.
Garage
Chris runs through the work that is on at the moment to Mark. Kate is surprised to see Mark there when she passes by the garage but all attention is diverted to her injured elbow (shes got a cut) once Chris spots it. Mark wants to check her elbow out when he returns with the first aid kit, but Kate grabs the plaster instead from him and leaves to sort it out herself.
Harold's Store
Lou brings Bailey a sickly-sweet concoction to cheer him up but the lad is really worried about his brother and admits that he thinks its best if Mason stays away to save him from going back to jail. Lou says that he wont go to jail for an accident and tries to reassure him that things will be okay and offers him his ear if he want to unload at any time.
Number 30
Toadie is in a foul mood because of the puppy and demands that a new home is found for it pronto before leaving again for work (hed to return to re-print some documents that Logie ruined). Cal thinks there is more to it and goes to ask his mum but she rushes out the door to give Toadie his lunchbox as he forgot to take it.
Ramsay Street
Toadie thanks Sonya for the lunch and she tries to turn his mind about the dog but that isn't going to happen as he thinks its a distraction for her from sorting out their troubles.
Harold's Store
Callum (and Bailey) begin to put up posters for the puppy but hes put the wrong phone number up and a not exactly flattering dog photo up (rather than one of Logie) to bide him some time to talk his dad around. Bailey then reminds him that Josie can't visit #30 but hes happy to go to hers although hes now stressed out on what to get her for Valentines Day given hes cashless and doesn't think too much of Baileys suggestion of homemade chocolates.
School grounds
Susan stops Bailey on the way into school to ask if there is any news about Mason (no) and then that her door is always open if he needs to chat/request extra time for assignments.
He heads off when their conversation is finished and she then spots Kate arriving and suggests that they should keep an eye on Bailey given what is going on. Kate doesn't seem to think they should be offering support to him, that is the role of the student counsellor. She then walks off after saying that she is the last person to be dishing out advice, which annoys Susan because she hadnt finished talking. Susan is very much taken aback by Kates attitude and wants to know what is up so Kate replies that she can have the list.
KATE: Georgia, Kyle, the baby, Mark. I know you're dying to say I told you so so lets just get that out of the way. Come on, you called all of this. You tried warning me off Kyle and you were right, congratulations.
SUSAN: (sincere) Kate, I was trying to protect you.
Susan then admits that she knew about the baby and that she didnt want Kate to get hurt. This admission knocks the wind right out of Kate and she wants to know why Susan didnt tell her.
SUSAN: Because it wasnt my place and I'm sorry, I really am, but I was stuck in the middle.
KATE: So you kept Georgias confidence and made me look like an idiot?
SUSAN: I think you're being unreasonable.
Kate then rushes into the school, telling her boss that she has to go.
Garage
Mark turns down a coffee from Chris (hes doing a coffee run) because hes watching his pennies as paying for a hotel room isn't cheap. Chris then mentions that #24 is up for lease (too weird with it being Kates old place) or that he could move into #26 as long as he doesn't mind Sheila walking in while hes having a shower every now and then! That is then vetoed too when it dawns on them that its Kates old room hed be moving into. Mark then spots the CCTV cameras and is curious about them.
Charlie's
Kate seeks solace during her free period with a coffee from Charlie's and a chat with Chris who is in for the coffees. She bemoans that she is surrounded by exs but Chris gets the upper hand by remarking that at least hers aren't in jail! Chris suggests a night out to take her mind off Mark after she admitted that him returning has really thrown her but turns his offer down as she doesn't think shed be good company for him.
Garage
While Chris has been away, Mark has been checking out the CCTV and is puzzled because it only covers the entrances, not the expensive tools, and is set to only record during the working day. Chris doesn't seem bothered and suggests they get back to work.
Harold's Store
Sonya spots Toadie when she and Nell enter but he can't get away from her quick enough. As hes settling the bill, he spots one of the posters Callum put up and is seriously unimpressed! Seeing his annoyance, Sonya volunteers to sort it out but only after shes confirmed to him that she knew nothing about Cals plan.
Lassiters Complex
Lou is putting up a replacement poster when Cal spots him. He isn't too pleased at being foiled and is forced to admit what hes done (and why) when Toadie spots him. Now isn't the time to take on a new pet, he is told and isn't giving Cal any explanations as to why not but is forced to say something when Cal asks if its about you and mum? Toadie eventually explains that theyve not seen too much of each other lately and when that happens they can drift.
CALLUM: You guys are drifting apart?
That's not going to happen to us, he assures his son and agrees with Cal that Valentine's Day is an ideal opportunity to get things back on track. Cal is so eager for Toadie to think of something romantic that he volunteers to put the posters up!
Number 30
Toadie comes home and the situation between him/Sonya is very tense but he starts the conversation by apologising for storming off that morning, its been a bad morning, he offers by way of an explanation. He adds that hes sorted things out with Callum but she forces the issue that hes been avoiding her for days.
SONYA: I miss you.
Sonya admits that he is scaring her by shutting her out. Just talk to me, she pleads.
He begins by saying that #30 was his safe place and regardless of what happened during the day, he could come home and be fine but now he feels angry and defensive.
TOADIE: I don't feel like me anymore and this definitely doesn't feel like us okay. Something has changed.
SONYA: I know I need to take responsibility for that but I love you. I love you and were going to get past this.
Toadie doesn't reply to that, so she tells him that hes enough for her, always has been and always will be.
SONYA: Please just tell me what I need to do to convince you of that?
TOADIE: I don't know. I guess that's the problem.
Charlie's
Kate's day continues to get worse when she runs into Mark at the bar while in to get her lunch. He asks why she seems to be avoiding him and she puts it down to him not leaving her by getting a job/moving back. She asks since he could have gone anywhere, why Erinsborough?
MARK: I used to live here remember!
Kate doesn't believe his coincidence (returning because of the abseiling incident) and he asks why him returning is such a problem for her? Because I just need some space and you're everywhere, she pleads plus of course chatting to Chris at work trying to figure out a solution to her problems!
MARK: Wow, not self-absorbed at all!
Mark thinks theyve got better thinks to talk about (with Chris) like work so she asks that it stays that way and adds that she doesn't need his friendship or pity before walking out of the bar leaving Mark to simply shake his head!
Harold's Store
Susan doesn't buy the excuse Sonya comes up with (they lead busy lives) after talking to her about the poster for Logie. She wonders if theyve had a fight but Sonya admits that she wished theyd had so they could move past this constant tension.
SUSAN: Is it still Jacob?
SONYA: Yes. Yes I made mistakes. I made mistakes with the whole Jacob situation, huge ones; I've admitted them to Jarrod. I caused the problem, I've apologised but I don't know what else I can do. I just can't handle him being so distant from me.
SUSAN: Its understandable that hes feeling hurt.
SONYA: Yes of course, hes every right to be hurt but instead of working it through with me, hes completely shutting me out, so I don't know how to fix it.
Its just going to take time, Susan tells her and adds that she knows how much they love each other and reassures her that he will get past it eventually.
Changing the subject totally, Susan asks if shes seem much of Kate lately (no but heard shed split up with Kyle) and mentions having to have words with her and that she isn't herself at the moment. Sonya thinks shell pull herself together and the pair part company.
School playground
Kate isn't too chuffed when a ball the kids are playing with (theyre throwing it around) almost hits her on the head (she is sitting on one of the benches surrounding where they are at). She picks up the ball and hastily throws it back shouting that they need to watch what they are doing but unfortunately the ball hits the passing Bailey squarely in the head. Oops and an even bigger oops because Susan has seen it all too!
