TERESE: We are going to plan every minute of every day!
Kyle is cleaning up because Kate's coming round. Chris is off out to meet a "friend" - Georgia, which Chris didn't want to mention.
KYLE: It's fine. I'm moving on: she's moving on. You guys go and have fun.
After Chris leaves, Kyle sighs.
No 32 - outside
Bailey is tutoring Mason, since Imogen likes smart guys. He agrees not to tell anyone.
BAILEY: Even I don't like to see you make an idiot of yourself.
He suggests a book Climate Change on the Horizon, and Mason says he's bored already.
Lauren is texting Glen from Lassiter's about the accounts department and the chef quitting.
BRAD: It's a good job you don't miss working there, isn't it?(!)
Lucy comes over and says she and Paul are upset that Terese turned their offer down, and asks if she will change her mind. Terese says no, and she doesn't miss working for Paul. Lucy assures Paul won't be any trouble, because he knows the place doesn't function without her. Lucy and Brad ask her if she's bored. She says her kids ... Imogen... needs her.
TERESE: She needs to come first.
Kate and Kyle are kissing, when Kyle thinks he hears Sheila coming home. He tells Kate that Sheila likes her, but Kate realises that's it's not enough to accept them as a couple. They go to make dinner. Kyle's got it under control except he can't find the grater. Kate remembers where Georgia put it and things get awkward. She invites Kyle to come to hers, since Kyle is uncomfortable.
Mason is quoting facts from the book. Bailey tells him that's why Imogen cares - because it's important. Imogen walks in and Mason is just about to go over, when Bailey tells him he's not ready.
BAILEY: Look, in Dragon Prophecies, we have a saying: 'Never attempt an attack on the Castle of Thanatos until you've performed the ritual of oak and mistletoe'.
MASON: I honestly cannot believe that you're my brother.
Bailey promises Mason he'll think of a strategy. Meanwhile, Brad is talking to Imogen about Terese not being at work. He asks if she likes her mum being at home. She says yes, it's been fun. She asks her dad why it matters.
Chris and Georgia are playing darts. She asks him about Danni at the garage, and Chris says she had a go at K... He stops, embarrassed, and Georgia tells him he can say his name. Karl and Susan come in, and Karl asks Georgia if she'd like to re-form the Right Prescription. Georgia is hesitant, but Chris thinks it's a good idea. Susan suggests giving it a couple of days, then Chris says he'll play - just for her. Georgia agrees, to Karl's delight. She goes to buy Chris a drink just as Kate arrives. Kate asks her if she really meant it when she told Kyle it was fine for him to move on.
GEORGIA: Why do you want to know? So that you feel less guilty about seeing Kyle?
KATE: No. I'm just asking.
GEORGIA: You can do whatever you want.
Terese is on the phone to Lassiter's marketing, because there were typos in the print ads. Imogen asks if she misses her job, saying that her dad told her she's the reason that Terese won't go back. Terese says he shouldn't have said that. Imogen asks if it's true. Terese says she loves spending time with her, but Imogen doesn't want to be responsible for her giving up her career. However, she doesn't want it going back to the way it was, when she was working insane hours and grumbling about Paul.
TERESE: Right. So you want me to take my old job back, only not my old job.
IMOGEN: Pretty much. Yeah.
Imogen is working and Mason comes along and starts talking about climate change. She's off-hand, but he continues, saying he was wondering what the two of them can do to reduce the world's carbon emissions.
MASON: And then it hit me, we should make Hermione greener.
He tells her he could make modifications, but she tells him she's not interested and he should go.
Kate puts on a "Love Songs" playlist on her iPod. Lucy and Paul appear on their way out to dinner for Lucy's last night. Paul gets a call from Terese. Lucy tells him to be on his best behaviour and they both leave.
Terese is negotiating her deal. She wants more money, a trip to Glasgow... and an assistant. Paul says she's being unreasonable, but Terese says she won't work the hours she did before. They agree to the terms, without a pay rise, starting the following day. Terese is jubilant and Brad is impressed.
Mason is depressed because Imogen wasn't interested. He tells Bailey that it hurts. Bailey comments that it could have gone worse. Imogen comes in, and tells Mason that she's angry because he came to her workplace talking about the environment, when it was only a pretext to chat her up. He asks if it worked, but she says it's too late. He could have taken an interest months ago, and he's only doing it now because she's with Isaac.
IMOGEN: You're an idiot. Just leave me alone.
BAILEY: That was worse.
MASON: No. You couldn't be more wrong. Imogen just called me an idiot. She only does that when we're flirting.
Mason is confident that he's in with a chance.
Paul and Lucy drink a toast to Terese's return. Paul tells her he's glad she was there for his birthday. She asks about his plans as mayor, but he says she'll have to wait and see.
Kyle apologises to Kate for the change of location, but she's fine with it, particularly as they don't have to cook. They kiss. The next song on the playlist is Letting You Know sung by Georgia. Whoops. Kate apologises and switches it off. Kyle says it's OK, and suggests they move on. They kiss again, then Kate says they don't have to rush anything. Kyle decides to leave.
Kyle is sitting in the kitchen and Chris arrives home. Kyle tells him that things didn't go according to plan. It's not working out with Kate. He asks Chris how he knows it'll work with Hudson.
CHRIS: I guess I don't, but it feels right.
KYLE: Yeah, see? I don't have that with Kate. With Georgia, even at the start, it felt right. I could see myself with her in five, ten years time. Everything with Kate just feels forced.
CHRIS: So what are you going to do?
KYLE: I'm going to have to break up with her.
