Previously on Neighbours
- Paul winning the mayoral election.
- Sheila confused about Kyle's love life.
- Kate consenting to having a relationship with Kyle.
- Jacob crossing the boundaries with Sonya by kissing her.
- Sonya telling Toadie about the kiss.
Number 30
Toadie is extremely annoyed about Jacob kissing his wife especially when he finds out that she was keeping quiet so that he'd help Jacob (because he couldn't afford anyone else) with the mediation hearing. Cal hears the arguing and wants to know what it's about and Toadie tells him to ask his mother as he's going for a walk.
Harold's Store
Georgia is surprised to see Jacob come into the store and he's being rather evasive about why he's not at the street party. She then volunteers to mind Elliott while he's at work (he wants to do some stuff while Sonya isn't around) and they agree to meet at Charlie's later on.
Number 30
Cal knows about the kiss but Sonya makes it clear that she doesn't have feelings for Jacob (Cal brought it up that's what Josie thought and why they're not talking). "Why do you care so much?" he asks and she explains that he's only just lost his wife and doesn't want him to lose his son too (she explained why she delayed telling Toadie).
SONYA: I wouldn't wish that upon anyone Callum.
Cal gets why she wants to help but adds that it shouldn't be at the detriment of them.
Number 26
Chris reports back on his trip to the prison while feeding on Sheila's leftovers. She spots Kyle and asks if he's going to the fireworks but he replies no, he's going to get takeaway and hang out with Kate. When he leaves, Chris picks up on her negativity and adds that they will sort things out in their own time.
Penthouse suite
Paul is suitably dressed up for his first official duty as mayor - watching over the fireworks. He thinks that Kate should do more for her date with Kyle than a night in sharing pizza but she's more than happy with that plan. The topic of his 50th comes up and he reveals that he is planning on flying Sophie, Harry, Elle, Andrew and Tash in to help him celebrate but Lucy can't come apparently because she's too busy.
Kyle and Paul swap places although Kate wishes that her uncle had stayed a bit longer to allow her to get dressed (she's in a robe after having a bath/shower by the looks of it), so she tells him to fix himself a drink while she goes to get changed.
Sonya's nursery
Toadie catches up with Jacob in the nursery and despite the apology, is ordered to leave the premises and never contact them again. Jacob wants his help in the mediation, "without you I'm stuffed," he pleads but it's falling on deaf ears. He then tries a different tact, pleading to him as a dad but Toadie doesn't reply as we head into the commercial break.
Penthouse suite
Kyle uses the time while Kate is getting dressed to use Paul's alcohol collection to make a cocktail for them but it's too strong so they change to having beer instead.
Charlie's
Georgia eventually finds out why Jacob has been quiet since he arrived and isn't impressed at the kiss/that it happened a few days ago. Jacob pleads that she doesn't desert him either; she's the only friend he has.
Number 30
Toadie eventually arrives home and asks Sonya if she has any feelings for Jacob and she replies "no." He now wonders if it's happened because he's been neglecting her and she replies no, it's just a situation that's gotten way out of hand. He explains that it's the not telling him straight away that's hurt.
TOADIE: I thought we were better than that.
Both agree that they don't want secrets and on that, he tells her the message he told Jacob - that he's to stay away from them and that he hasn't made up his mind about representing him the mediation either because he wanted to talk to her first.
SONYA: I'll completely understand if you don't want to, but Jacob does need our help and you're the only person who can give it to him.
Penthouse suite
Kyle and Kate head out to the balcony to watch the fireworks and she tells him about her mum taking her (and her siblings) to watch them. She adds that she doesn't think her mum would be pleased with her just now as the family isn't together but he reminds her that just because they aren't in the same place, they are still family.
KATE: Yes, at the end of the day we're all looking at the same sky aren't we?
And after that statement, they begin to pash each other.
(Later)
They are still pashing away when Paul arrives home and promises more spectacular fireworks next year! Kyle announces that its time to leave as they've both a busy day ahead tomorrow. When he leaves, Paul apologises for intruding as he feels he walked in on something ie him staying over and Kate is quick to say it's way too soon for that. "We're just taking things slow," she adds.
Paul then gets a message on his iPhone saying that Sophie and Harry can't make his 50th and while disappointed they can't make it, adds that it's more important that Elle/Andrew make it.
Charlie's
Georgia has totally calmed down compared to when we last saw her and admits that she is probably biased at the moment and is still a bit raw about what happened (with her). "Could we be any sadder," she comments after realising how down in the dumps both of them are and Jacob resorts to telling jokes to try and cheer them up. Georgia bursts out laughing at his (bad) joke and its unnerved Kate who is waiting at the bar for her order (a replacement bottle of whisky for Paul that they finished making cocktails).
Lassiters Complex (next day)
Jacob nervously arrives to meet Toadie, unsure of what the decision will be. Thankfully for him, Toadie agrees to be his lawyer for the mediation but it's to be a strictly professional relationship - they will only meet to discuss the case and he doesn't want Jacob at the house/near Sonya. He also adds that when the legal stuff is over they will cease to contact each other completely. Jacob agrees to the conditions and the men shake hands on their agreement.
At the other side of the complex, Kyle sits contemplating what he should do.
Penthouse suite
Kyle arrives to apologise to Kate for rushing out when Paul came home last night. He admits that he's okay when it's just the two of them but when others are there he feels guilty.
KYLE: It's like we're being caught all over again.
Kate asks if it means they have to hide/be in secret all the time as she doesn't want that. Kyle confirms he doesn't want that either and is why he is there - he wants to take Kate out to breakfast before she heads to school where everyone can see them.
Lassiters Complex
Jacob and Elliott are having brekkie with Georgia and he tells her about the deal with Toadie although he's a bit upset at not being able to say goodbye to Sonya and that he is going to miss her. Georgia gives him hope that Toadie might change his mind when they are interrupted by Bossy appearing at her side and as she turns round, spots Kyle/Kate. Cue awkwardness big time what with Georgia holding Elliott and Kate/Kyle holding hands (which he quickly breaks off).
