No 32 (Mason and Bailey's room)
As we pick up exactly where we left off, Kate is shocked at Mason's suggestion that they should try for a baby.
KATE: How long have you been thinking about this?
MASON: Well, I haven't really, but it kind of makes sense, doesn't it?
KATE: How do you figure that?
MASON: Because you have less of a chance, maybe we should start trying now. Increase the odds.
Kate doesn't look particularly convinced by this logic, and the awkwardness is palpable. Mason decides they should leave it up to fate and starts kissing her, but she objects, saying they've only been together for a short time. At this point Lou comes in, looking for Bailey, and Kate makes a swift exit. Lou apologises and Mason looks worried.
Charlie's
Kate rushes to Georgia and tells her everything. She admits how shocked she was and says she doesn't want a baby now, even if she could fall pregnant. What's more, she's worried by the fact that Mason was able to blurt something like that out, without thinking it through, and wonders what that says about him. Georgia points out that Mason obviously loves her, and tells Kate not to judge him too harshly - they just need to 'get on the same page'.
No 30
Sonya's concerned that Toadie's working too hard, and suggests he take a break, but he doesn't want to let down his clients. Sonya reassures him that the police will find Marty and everything will be okay - but Toadie isn't convinced, and decides to head back to the office. However, Sonya puts her foot down, and decides he's having an afternoon of fun. She heads off to Lassiter's, telling him to meet her there later, so they can do the treasure hunt together.
Harold's Store
Josh is pleasantly surprised at Jack's 'generous' prize for the treasure hunt, which Jack's just buried; we don't learn what it is, but Jack says he can afford it. Lauren comes over, saying she's heard about the treasure hunt from Amber, who's told her to turn on the radio. Lauren tries to persuade Jack to give her an extra clue, but he says that wouldn't be fair, and tells her to keep tuned to Erinsborough High radio. Jack tells Josh that it's time Amber revealed the second half of the clue, so he texts her.
Charlie's
At Charlie's, Mason and Lou are having a drink. Mason starts probing Lou about how young he was when Mai Ling was born, and Lou immediately concludes that Mason's going to be a dad. Mason assures him it's hypothetical, and Lou admits he wasn't much older than Mason - but explains he didn't even know Mai Ling existed for years. Lou admits that if he had known, he wouldn't have been able to handle the responsibility. Mason explains that he and Kate are talking about kids, and that it might still be possible - Lou tells him not to rush into anything. Mason thinks it would be the way to cheer up Kate, but Lou suggests there are other ways of doing that.
At this point Sheila comes over with a mobile radio - Amber is giving the second clue.
AMBER: You're now in the ballpark - it's time to start looking. A clue or two more and you'll really be cooking.
Sheila scribbles down the clue, and Lou asks what's going on. Mason fills him in on the treasure hunt. They discuss what the prize might be; Sheila thinks it's a gift voucher, but Mason says it could be more than that, since Jack's involved.
LOU: Jack Lassiter? He's loaded!
With that, Lou snatches the paper with the clue from Sheila's hand and rushes out of the door. He calls Bailey, saying he needs his help, and Sheila starts chasing him!
No 26 (garden)
Chris, Hudson and Kate are having a barbecue, but Kate is obviously deep in thought. Mason arrives and asks Kate if they can finish their conversation, saying he's sorry if he upset her.
Chris gets a text from Amber, trying to convince him to take part in the treasure hunt. Mason tells them the prize is likely to be big, as Jack Lassiter's a millionaire. Hudson decides he'd like to take part; Chris is worried as Hudson has swimming training, but Hudson says he'll skip it and make it up to Brad later. Hudson runs off, and Mason suggests he and Kate do the treasure hunt too. Kate reluctantly agrees, but is obviously still in shock about Mason's suggestion.
Lassiter's Complex
Sonya runs into Kyle with Bossy, whom he's delivering to Sheila to be her sniffer- dog in the treasure hunt! She then walks past Toadie's office, but finds one of his clients, Margaret, outside looking for Toadie. She wanted to pick up a file from the office as she's decided to switch law firm, having heard about Toadie's possible involvement in the hit- and- run.
Sonya claims Toadie's not in the office as he's busy with clients, but insists he hasn't been charged with anything. Nonetheless, Margaret gives Sonya her card and asks her if Toadie could forward her file to the new lawyer. But as Margaret's walking away, Sonya decides to intervene, and asks her if she'd give Toadie a chance to explain before she switches lawyers. Margaret agrees, saying she'll await his call.
Lassiter's Lake
Lou sits on a bench barking orders at Bailey, who's digging a hole in the ground at Lou's behest. Sheila turns up with the radio
LOU: Oh, struth, woman, you scared me half to death.
SHEILA: Hmm, I'll try harder next time.
They compare progress on the treasure hunt, but both are cagey about giving anything away. Lou recalls Amber's third clue:
LOU: 'And the moon shines bright...'
SHEILA: '... and the riddle is to be found in the middle.' I think she means the lake, don't you? As in, the treasure is buried in the middle of the lake.
Lou laughs, saying that's ridiculous, and tries to throw Sheila off the scent by saying the clue must mean 'in the middle of the school'. Sheila runs off, purportedly to follow Lou's suggestion, saying she'll beat him to it. But the moment she's gone, Lou starts cackling and shouts for Bailey. In the meantime, Sheila hides in the bushes and prepares to listen to the latest clue on the radio.
Mason and Kate are wandering around on the treasure hunt, but Kate's clearly not happy. Mason's oblivious however, saying that if they find the treasure they can sell it and put the money towards supporting their hypothetical baby.
MASON: Maybe we should even think about getting a joint bank account.
KATE: Okay, this is going way too fast!
MASON: Hey, I know that this is a big decision, but I want you to know that I'm committed to this. To you.
Kate goes quiet again.
Harold's Store
Hudson and Chris are working on their treasure hunt strategy when Brad calls Hudson's mobile. Hudson ignores it, and Chris guesses that he hasn't even told Brad he'd decided to skip training. Chris warns Hudson not to string Brad along; he's put so much time and effort into his training. Hudson promises to talk to Brad - after they've won the treasure hunt.
Lauren calls for quiet - it's time for Amber's next clue on the radio.
AMBER: Halfway toward something that's always around, the treasure you seek is there, under the ground.
Hudson and Chris rush off to follow up on the clue.
Lassiter's Complex
On the phone, Sonya is having a go at someone from the West Waratah Star, which was where Toadie's client Margaret read about his involvement in the Robbo case. When she turns round, she sees Toadie sitting in the courtyard, and is surprised to see him. Sonya makes out that she was talking to Callum.
They discuss the treasure hunt, and Toadie kisses Sonya on the cheek, thanking her for encouraging him to have the afternoon off. She laughs and kisses him back - but then spots the client, Margaret, getting out of a car, and tries to whisk Toadie away to the lake to look for the treasure. Unfortunately they run straight into Margaret, and it quickly becomes clear that Sonya has been keeping the fact that she spoke to her from Toadie. Having been told Toadie was working, Margaret is annoyed to find himself enjoying himself, and reiterates her intention to switch lawyers. Sonya apologises to Toadie.
Lassiter's Lake
A treasure hunt montage ensues, as everyone and his dog searches the area. Lou continues to order Bailey about, and tells him to jump in the lake to see if the treasure's in the middle, as Sheila suggested! But Bailey says he can see the bottom of the lake, and that there's nothing there. Lou realises that Sheila duped him. Suddenly, Bossy starts digging on the grass, and everyone rushes towards her. Bailey, Lou and Sheila all dig for it, watched by excited- looking extras, and Jack and Josh. Presently a chest is unearthed, full of thousands of dollars!
Charlie's
Jack watches as Sheila and Lou divide up their spoils - they've decided to split the cash since they got it more or less simultaneously. Sheila tells Lou he ought to make sure Bailey gets a share, but Lou tells her it's all going to Mai Ling's charity in Cambodia. He remarks to Jack that it's a lot of money to be giving away, but Jack says he's glad to be sharing it with the locals - adding that there's plenty more where that came from.
SHEILA: Oh, well you won't have it if you keep splashing it around like a drunken sailor.
JACK: Don't worry about me. I'm not gonna run out.
LOU: Can't take it with you, huh?
SHEILA: That doesn't stop some people trying.
Josh comes in and tells them that Imogen's just finished announcing the outcome of the treasure hunt on the radio. Jack hints that there may be more treasure hunts in the pipeline, and Sheila says Jack should exert his influence on Paul, as he could take a leaf out of Jack's book and be more generous.
LOU (laughs): Not much chance of that.
JACK: Well you never know. People can surprise you.
Lou and Sheila leave, and Jack and Josh sit down to discuss the riddle for the next hunt.
In the evening, Georgia is preparing for her latest gig, and Kyle is there to support her, as well as Toadie and Sonya. Sonya is still apologising to Toadie for dropping him in it with Margaret, but he assures her it's not her fault. Sheila introduces Georgia, welcoming her to the stage, and she begins to a sing, while everyone looks suitably impressed. Except Toadie, who looks miserable.
No 32 (Mason and Bailey's room)
Mason and Kate come in; Kate's still not looking happy, and Mason asks her what's up. She remarks on how intense the last few weeks have been with her diagnosis, which she says is forcing them into a situation that neither of them are ready for.
MASON: I'm ready.
KATE: I'm not.
MASON: ...
KATE: Look, don't get me wrong. I think you're amazing for suggesting we have a kid together. It's just it's made me realise where we're headed. I don't think we want the same things anymore. And I think I should probably go to Sydney by myself.
MASON: Okay, if you feel like you need the space... You know how I feel about you.
KATE: Yeah, it's just not fair for me to be with you if I don't feel the same way. Look, Mason, I really care for you. But I need to be honest, and I don't want to hurt you - but this, and us, and -
MASON: Are you breaking up with me?
KATE: I'm really sorry.
Kate leaves, and Mason sits on the bed, his head in his hands.
Later, Mason is in the kitchen, being consoled by Lauren. She wants to take him out for dinner but he's not in the mood. Lauren suddenly gets a text from Florence, thanking her for the flowers she sent after Robbo's funeral. Mason's a little put out that Lauren would send flowers to Robbo's mother, but Lauren says she's glad she did it - it's not Florence's fault that Robbo turned out like he did.
LAUREN: I know Florence loved him. And despite everything I really believe he must have loved her too.
Mason smiles, but suddenly has an idea. He rushes to his bedroom, opens Robbo's laptop and tries 'florence' as the password. It's correct, and he gains access. He opens the video library, but there's nothing there, and he smiles with relief. However, he then opens Robbo's email, and finds one from Lauren! It simply reads: "Can we meet in private? There must be a way to resolve this situation." Mason is shocked.
