Police station
Matt and Det. Oakley are quizzing Hudson. He claims that he was simply walking home and didn't see Robbo but his address means he shouldn't have been there.
HUDSON: Look I didn't do it.
"Just tell us the truth," Matt tells him and he eventually says that he wasn't going home, he was going somewhere else.
Number 30
Cal hands Toadie his Father's Day pressie - a framed photo of 'The Lawman'. When he heads off to get the card, Toadie takes Nell from Sonya and hugs her dearly; remorseful of the trouble the family are now in because of him. Sonya reassures him that someone with a better motive for killing Robbo will come forward and at that point Kyle (who is round sorting a leak) has a flashback to Lucas visiting the PirateNet studios.
Lucas and Vanessa's flat
Lucas comes off the phone after failing to get help/information that will help Toadie. Just at that, Sonya comes calling round to ask the pair of them for help to cheer Toadie up. Vanessa readily agrees to assist and unseen by the ladies, Lucas sits on the sofa looking very guilty.
Police
During a break in the interview, Matt hands Hudson a cup of water and tries to chat with him off the record but it doesn't last long before Det. Oakley is back and the formal interview resumes.
We find out who Hudson was going to see - Don and explains that he kept quiet about their meeting because he didn't want Brad to find out. Det. Oakley wants to know what the meeting is about and Hudson explains it was to discuss his future and to then confirm that he didn't run into Robbo. Hudson breaths a huge sigh of relief when Det. Oakley explains that Don corroborated his story and Matt shows him out of the room to the waiting Chris.
Ramsay Street
Amber feigns distraction while waiting for her text from Josh to be over affectionate to Bossy when Sheila is taking her for a walk. Eventually she does get a text but it's from her mum and not Josh. Sheila gives the girl some words of encouragement - to text Josh and demand an answer! She walks off and Amber waits patiently for Josh to exit his house but of course he doesn't.
Police station
Matt/Det. Oakley examine the latest forensic evidence - bits of a note but neither can interpret what it is about. Det. Oakley wants all the suspects back in, including Matt's family (which he is okay about), however before that happens Matt and Kelly head off to check out the PirateNet studios after a tip off.
PirateNet studios
Kelly and Matt look around the place and she discovers the card game table. Matt now twigs about the new forensic evidence and the pair work out that it's an 'IOU'. He radios it into the station and tells Kelly that it looks like they've now got another motive for the hit and run.
Charlie's
Operation 'Cheer up Toadie' is in full swing beginning with taking the mickey out of Callum about Josie before Vanessa tells everyone their latest wedding plans.
PirateNet studios
The police are processing the studios and Det. Oakley doesn't seem enthralled at Matt thinking the forensic evidence was and IOU especially as it would now mean his kids/Toadie would be in the clear. Matt politely stands his ground against the Detective but is then told that he's too involved and is told to step back.
DET: You should never have been put on it in the first place.
MATT: I can handle it.
DET: It's not up for debate. You're off the case Senior Constable.
Charlie's
Toadie has cheered up tremendously compared to earlier. He remarks to Lucas that with the threat of being carted off to jail any time, it puts a new perspective on things and wishes that someone with information would come forward. Sonya calls Toadie over to play darts and again, Lucas sits looking guilty as anything.
Number 22
Amber decides it's time to come and confront Josh about him not responding to any of her texts! Eventually he gets a word in edgeways to say he has no idea what she is talking about. Amber doesn't believe him and starts ranting at him again. Once more he doesn't know what she is talking about, so she shows him her phone and the texts she has supposedly sent and he knows why now straight away.
JOSH: That's not my number.
"Oh no," is Amber's comment when she realises just who she has sent the text messages to! Amber tries to get out of the house quickly to hide her embarrassment but instead Josh stops her and then kisses her.
Ramsay Street
Ramsay Street's latest couple walk hand in hand down the driveway of #22 coming to a stop in the street to pash as if to let everyone know they are together. Josh is still curious to know what the texts said but she distracts him by pashing him more!
Meanwhile, at the #26 driveway, Kyle moans about the contents of their house shop containing things for Hudson. Chris' reasoning is he plans to cook him dinner to make up for what happened at the police station. He admits to his housemate that he is peeved at Hudson keeping secrets from him and adds that if everyone had been honest from the start "most of this wouldn't have happened." This statement seems to get to Kyle and he quickly hands Chris their shopping before taking off, citing he's got something to do.
Number 32
Matt and Lauren want to know what is going on when a deliriously happy Amber comes in and kisses both her parents on the cheek.
AMBER: Nothing... except Josh and I are back together.
Both are relieved to hear the good news and Amber must be in such a good mood too as she rushes off to tidy up her room for the next open inspection.
Matt then starts looking through the pile of mail sitting to be dealt with then comes across a cheque from Lucas to reimburse them for something they paid for. Immediately he recognises Lucas' signature from the new forensic evidence and rushes out to the station even though he's been taken off the case.
Garage
Kyle pulls up looking for Lucas but the garage is locked up, however as he waits, Lucas pulls up onto the forecourt in his van. Lucas exits the van and as he heads into the garage, Kyle has arrived and tells him he needs to go to the police to tell them what he knows. "I know," is Lucas' reply and adds that he just came by to pick up some things and no, he hasn't told Vanessa anything. "You're doing the right thing," Kyle replies and adds that perhaps it won't be as bad as he reckons.
As they are making their way outside, Matt enters to ask Lucas to come down to the station. "I was just about to come down there," Lucas replies when everyone suddenly looks to the ground - there is lots of money on the ground that fell out of the bag Lucas took from the desk.
KYLE: What the hell?!
LUCAS: I can explain.
Did he do it?
- Lucas promising Vanessa they will find the money.
- Lucas losing at cards to Robbo and signing a cheque for $4000.
- Lucas then signing an IOU to Robbo for $6000.
- Lucas going after Robbo, accusing him of using marked cards.
- Robbo telling Lucas that the IOU still stands.
- Kyle telling Lucas that he knows Robbo was playing card games before he was mowed down.
