Previously on Neighbours
- Kyle and Kate workshop the Dads of Erinsborough exhibition
- Robbo tells Josh that Amber's not interested, and Amber breaks up with Robbo
- Imogen skips school and gets detention. Susan is concerned that Imogen has eaten a boxful of cupcakes
Susan want to talk to Imogen about what she was doing earlier, and says she found the empty cupcake box. Imogen apologises, saying there is no excuse for littering. In her office, Susan wants to know about the cupcakes, which Imogen says she gave to her friends.
IMOGEN: You know cupcakes at school: gone in 60 seconds.
Susan suggests that Imogen might have eaten them herself because her parents are busy with work and Josh. Imogen seems puzzled, and Susan starts to talk about people having unhealthy habits when it comes to food. Kate bursts in, asking (rather belatedly) if it's a bad time. Susan says yes, but Imogen leaps on the chance to escape by telling Kate she'd like to be involved in the exhibition.
Imogen is cleaning tables in the Classroom™ as part of her detention. Josh comes in, saying he never thought he'd see her in detention. He tells her that Susan was asking about her earlier. Amber comes in and greets them: Imogen replies enthusiastically, Josh less so. Amber leaves, deflated.
IMOGEN: Why do you keep icing her?
JOSH: What? I said hello.
IMOGEN: Yeah, like she was diseased.
Josh says he doesn't understand Amber. Yesterday, she just brushed him off, and a couple of weeks ago, he sent her a text message... Imogen wants to know what it said, and he admits it might have been "mushy". He asked her whether they still had a chance. Imogen asks what happened.
JOSH: Robbo happened.
He says that Amber sent Robbo down to say there was no chance. Imogen says he must have made it up, but Josh points out that Amber must have shown Robbo the text message. Imogen offers to talk to Amber, but Josh tells her not to.
Imogen is talking to Amber, who says there are no messages from Josh in her Inbox. Imogen says that Josh is confused because Robbo told him that he and Amber were together and that Josh had no chance. Amber is puzzled now, but then she remembers that Robbo returned the phone after she left it with Clay, so he must have seen and deleted the text then.
On a camera screen, we see Matt is booking a guy for having busted tail- lights. Bailey is taking photos of the incident. Josh and Brad walk past. Josh is asking his dad for advice on talking to someone. Brad tells him he needs to get over it because it's going ahead. Puzzled, Josh asks him what he means. When Brad says he meant Hudson's sponsorship, Josh says he wanted to talk about something else. Brad agrees, then gets a text. He's got an important meeting down at the gym. He suggests they can eat together after training - with Hudson. Josh is disappointed that it won't just be him and his dad.
In Susan's office, Imogen tells Susan that's she's done her detention, and as for the other stuff, she really is OK. She admits that she didn't give the cupcakes away. She claims that they tasted awful. Vanessa had obviously mixed up the salt with the sugar.
IMOGEN: You know, baby brain, I guess!
SUSAN: Right, so you threw the cupcakes away, but not the wrappers or the box?
IMOGEN: Yeah, well, I fed them to the ducks.
Susan says she'd like to get Brad and Terese in, just to talk about things because she'd noticed some tension when she visited. Imogen is not very happy about it. Susan says she's concerned about her.
By the lockers, Amber approaches Josh and tells him that Imogen had talked to her, and that Robbo had deleted his text. He replies that she and Robbo were obviously spending time together if he had her phone. She admits that they were, but she was silly, and it's over. She asks him what was in the message, but he says he doesn't understand why she would hang out with Robbo. She says it was a mistake and she wants to give it another go. She asks him to tell her what the message said, but he goes off to class. She sighs, then gets a text from him: Room 12 after school. He turns, and they smile at each other.
Some people are moving boards around. Sheila is just leaving, telling Kate she'll be back to pick her up for her appointment. Matt and another officer arrive (to investigate some vandalism) and Kate tells him they are setting up the Dads of Erinsborough exhibition. Imogen arrives, bringing a framed photo of Brad with a surf board. She tells Kate it reminds her of when her dad took them surfing back in Perth. Matt comments it's a nice way to think of her dad. Imogen takes the photo in, and Matt asks awkwardly if Bailey was going to enter. Kate says she thinks so.
Matt says the photos Bailey took of him aren't very exciting. Bailey says he wanted to show his dad doing his job.
BAILEY: Uh, you know, the next time you're busting a drug racket, call me.
Bailey goes off to find a frame and Matt sighs.
MATT: Great - my son sees me as a boring cop giving out canaries.
LAUREN: But I've always liked you in uniform.
Matt says he'd like Bailey to think he was a bit more cool. He tells Lauren about Imogen's photo of Brad, and how they went surfing together. Lauren points out that Bailey sees Matt as a responsible person doing a great job. Matt is not reassured.
In the Classroom™ (or Classroom 12, actually), Josh is waiting for Amber. They sit side by side on a table and Amber asks him about the text. He says he's rewritten it, and he starts to read. She stops him, and asks him to send it instead. She moves so they're sitting back to back. She gets the text, and starts to read. He stops her, saying he knows what it says. She tells him of course she wants to try again. They agree to hang out later.
Lauren is watching Matt playing basketball, while Bailey is writing at the table. She asks Bailey if he's considered another angle as Matt isn't just a cop. She calls Bailey over to the window.
LAUREN: Look at your dad playing basketball. Hey? See how fun and funky and... and cool he looks?
BAILEY: No, it looks as if he's about to do damage to himself.
At this point, Matt twists around and falls over. Lauren asks Bailey to take some photos then gives up with the requests and tells him to go and take some before Matt breaks his ankle. Bailey goes out, telling Matt he's doing a science project. Matt's not fooled, and Bailey shows him the pictures. Matt says he looks hopeless, and Bailey shows him how it's done.
Kate thanks Sheila for coming to the appointment with her. Sheila's sure Kate's mum would have gone if she'd been around. She comments that Georgia will be happy that there are so many entries for the exhibition. Kyle comes in with two photos of Matt, telling Kate that Bailey was asking which he should choose. Kate says it was his decision.
SHEILA: Oh! Who would have thought that Matt was in such good shape? He can pat me down any time.
KYLE: Oh, Gran, that's offensive!
SHEILA: A woman is allowed to look. Anyway, my taxes pay his salary.
Sheila leaves and Kyle tells a shocked Kate they can stop lying to Georgia, but he's talking about the number of entries. She says it was all down to the children, but he's bought her a gift. It's a pink hairy unicorn full of lollies. She tells him it's the sweetest, daggiest present she's ever had, and goes off to call Georgia to tell her how many entries there are.
Bailey wants Matt to choose which photo he should use: RoboCop or Kindergarten Cop. Bailey says he's already written the blurb, but Matt will have to go to the exhibition to read it. He assures his dad it's all good ...
BAILEY: Except the part about you being really terrible at basketball.
Matt looks uncertainly at Lauren who tells Bailey his photos are great. Amber comes in ready for her date with Josh.
LAUREN: You look...
LAUREN: No. You look like you.
AMBER: What's that supposed to mean?
LAUREN: Effortlessly gorgeous.
BAILEY: Especially compared to how you usually dress for dates.
AMBER: Which is how?
Amber says it's not a date- date, and it's on this technicality that her grounding got lifted. Lauren is pleased for her, saying that Josh is a good kid. Amber says it's a fresh start.
Imogen arrives home - everyone else is out. Terese has left dinner in the fridge for her. Amber sends a text saying that she and Josh are going on a date. Imogen looks pleased. She decides to pass on the sausages and veg, and instead picks out a large chocolate and cream cake.
Imogen brings the empty plate to the sink. She asks Josh why he is modelling T- shirts in front of the microwave. He says there's no camera in his room. No actually he doesn't. He tries another one, while Imogen claims he wants to look pretty for Amber. He says they're just hanging out. She says she's really happy for them, and she knows he must like her because of how mature he's being about Robbo. He says they talked about everything.
JOSH: People have exes. It's no big deal.
IMOGEN: Yeah, but not many people have exes that they hooked up with in the last week. You did know about that yeah?
Josh is stunned, but claims he knew.
