- Paul trying to get Kate to go out with Mark.
- Kate telling Mark she wants to be with Mason.
- Matt concerned about Mason's forthcoming trial.
- Toadie finding out that Matt was right to be concerned.
- Toadie being Mason's new lawyer.
Lassiters Complex
Paul spots Mason cutting through the complex as he is about to have brekkie with Kate. He makes his displeasure known to him for changing lawyers (and Kate agrees with her uncle too) but despite the pressure Paul puts him under to change back to Tim, Mason holds firm citing that it's what is best for him.
Imogen spots Mason after the chat and wishes him all the best in court.
Charlie's
Kate is trying to quiz Paul about why Mason feels he needs to change lawyers so late but he sticks to the party line of Tim is the best and he was doing it all for her.
Toadie then comes in and knows well Paul is stalling for the statement he is supposed to have done for Mason, but when he eventually comes up with the excuse that it isn't finished, Toadie suggests that they write one now and he even provides Paul with the paper! He also mutters on about getting Caroline's number to confirm with her that she is doing a written statement and not turning up at court to do a verbal one. Paul tries to say he doesn't have her number but Kate pipes up to say that Lassiters will have it.
Number 32
Ajay is round at the Turners collating the last of the statements including one from Lauren and Matt (they wanted to put it down in writing). Mason then asks his parents not to come to court, he doesn't want them there if it's bad news, and eventually concedes when Toadie arrives with news of glowing statements from Paul/Caroline.
Number 26
Lou is under orders not to go to court in a call from Lauren but to stay at #26 and do what Sheila asks him to do! And those instructions are to eat healthy food only and not the nice muffins Georgia has just brought round!
Sheila thinks that Kyle is still asleep and the pair of them then squabbling over who is best to look after Kyle. Unknown to them, he's crept into the living room and once he hears them squabbling, decides to creep out of the house and take Bossy for a walk instead!
Number 32
Vanessa calls round to tell Lauren that the contractors doing the renovations at Harold's have pulled out because Lyn can't afford to pay for them. Lauren gets out her phone to call Lyn about it.
Ramsay Street
Georgia spots Kyle beginning to walk with Bossy (and despite using a wooden cane to assist him, still walks into things) and makes his displeasure at being called 'disabled' known. Neither back down and Kyle continues on his planned walk and tells her that if he runs into problems either Bossy will lead the way home or he will ask someone.
School
Imogen is surprised to see Amber at school when she spots her at the lockers. They chat briefly about Mason being in court and Amber mentions to her that he's split from Kate. Imogen can't keep the smile off her face as she follows Kate/Amber into the classroom.
Number 32
Lauren has spoken to Lyn about the renovations and discovered that she is planning on selling the store as a going concern. She asks Matt about them buying it with the money from selling their old house but he'd rather put the money into bricks and mortar than buying the store. He also would rather discuss it later given they may need that money for further legal costs for Mason.
LAUREN: What are we going to do if Mason loses the case?
MATT: Whatever happens, we'll deal with it.
School
Kate spots Amber (and Imogen) and asks if there is news but there isn't although she's just got a text from her mum telling her to hang in there. Amber thinks that if Mason gets off they could get back together but Kate doesn't want to discuss things at school and as they head into the classroom, Imogen's smile from earlier is gone!
(Later)
Appropriately with today being the Queen's birthday holiday, Kate is doing Queen Victoria with her class and Imogen is the only one answering the questions although some are rather inappropriate for school - more based on Kate/Mason than Queen Victoria!
Number 26
Over a cuppa (and not a muffin for him), Lou chats to Sheila about his family and despite what has happened since they moved, is glad that they came. He also mentions that he wishes he'd kept in contact with his eldest daughter (Mai Ling who is in Asia) and she tells him to send an email to her even if he is not sure if its current or not.
SHEILA: Please tell me you know how to do that?
LOU: Of course!
SHEILA: Well do it! If you've learned anything from today it should be that that life's too short for regrets. If you want to contact her then contact her.
Lou then says he doesn't want to do anything until he knows Mason's fate.
Number 32
Lauren and Matt are waiting nervously for news, not helped by texts from friends asking if there is any news! Eventually Ajay and Toadie walk into the house alone and inform them solemnly that they got the best possible sentences... then the pause for dramatic effect before Ajay happily reveals that Mason isn't going to prison! Matt and Lauren hug each other as Toadie says he got a 3 year good behaviour bond thanks to the good references etc that they obtained. They also say Mason will be home soon, he wanted to do catch up with someone first...
Lassiters hotel
...That that person is Paul! Paul is most definitely shocked to see Mason and he can't but help gloat that it was the statement from Caroline and himself that helped.
MASON: I should have trusted you Paul. It's just that everyone I spoke to told me you were such a scumbag but I know it's not true, so in the future when people tell me you're a greedy, self- obsessed liar I won't believe them.
PAUL: (quietly) Alright, that's enough.
MASON: (loudly) This man is not a sad, grubby, manipulative scum sucker.
PAUL: (shouting) ALRIGHT THAT'S ENOUGH!
The silent employees/hotel guests just don't know where to look (other than at the furious Paul) after Mason's outburst!
Lassiters Complex
Imogen's day is made when Mason runs into her as he exits the hotel to say her good luck obviously made all the difference and volunteers to accompany her home.
Number 26 backyard
Georgia finds Kyle home and in the backyard. He apologises for overreacting earlier and she apologises for treating him like he was one of her patients. Kyle points out (reluctantly) that he is a patient.
Vanessa calls round to pay her money for some hospital fundraiser she is attending, which Georgia totally tries to play down in front of Kyle. He thinks she is staying home because of him but Georgia is forced to explain that it's because she doesn't want to take him to somewhere where he is going to struggle because of his sight problem/being unfamiliar with the location.
Number 32
Toadie and Ajay leave the celebrating family as they have to work to do and swap places with Lou and Amber. The grandkids wind Lou up over Sheila but he doesn't bite and instead tells Mason that he's a free man thanks to his family/friends and if he stuffs up again he will have to personally answer to him!
Number 26
Georgia and Kyle have a clear the air discussion about his limitations and he decides with or without her, he is going to the fundraiser!
Ramsay Street
Kate spots Mason sitting on the dyke and comes over to offer her congratulations to him. He thanks her for her help especially given recent events and she suggests now it's over that they can get back on track... just as Imogen comes over for her date at the movies with Mason! Kate quickly recovers her composure to tell them to have a good night and they walk off down Ramsay Street and she is left standing looking jealous as anything especially when Mason briefly puts his arm round Imogen!
Lassiters Park
Georgia spots despondent Kate sitting and when she goes over discovers why. She thinks that Mason still wants to be with her and urges Kate to tell him how she feels. "I did that!" she replies and that he then went off with Imogen. That's taken the wind out of Georgia, so she asks what Kate's next move is and she replies that she will be keeping really busy!
GEORGIA: Great plan, just pretend that the issue doesn't exist.
KATE: I guess this isn't really an issue, I mean we're not together any more. I guess I just need to accept that and move on.
