Lassiter's Complex
Vanessa and Rhys head home after her shift at Harold's; she tries to take his mind off his injury but he wants to get some hand practice in before surgery tomorrow. Vanessa's worried, and tells him not to stay up too late.
Harold's
Vanessa is icing cupcakes in the kitchen, flashing back to Karl giving Rhys the good news about his hand, and then seeing Rhys getting defensive and pouring coffee everywhere. She has an idea, and calls Rhys, asking him to come to Harold's and help her with something.

Summer continues to stalk Bradley Fox on her laptop, while Chris polishes off her breakfast. Summer's impressed by the geographic scope of Bradley's work, and the fact that he has his own wiki page. Taking a peek at the screen, Chris opines that Bradley is hot, and suggests that's why Summer's stalking him.
SUMMER: I'm not stalking him.
CHRIS: You cannot shut up about him. You like this guy. I mean, you really like him.
SUMMER: Shut up, I'm learning from him!
CHRIS: Because you wanna be just like him?
SUMMER: There's nothing wrong with admiring someone.
CHRIS: No, you're right, I agree. Can I just admire him again for a sec?
SUMMER: I'm talking about his career, Chris, and that's it!

Susan runs into Priya. Susan explains that she's enjoying her newfound freedom since hiring Bradley as deputy editor, and that she's come to do a yoga class. The class has been cancelled though, and Susan remembers that the yoga teacher who used to fill in doesn't work there anymore. Priya teases Susan as she realises she means Bernard, who she went on a date with.
As Susan prepares to go for a coffee instead, a tutor, Evie, announces that a dance class is about to start. Priya suggests Susan should join in, and Susan takes her advice. But she's a little surprised when Evie insists she wear a pair of heels for the class - and even more surprised when she realises she's signed up for pole-dancing!

Summer has bought Bradley a double espresso and is embarrassed when he soon twigs that she's been stalking him - Bradley tells her not to take too much notice of his wiki page. Summer compliments Bradley on his writing style, particularly an article he wrote about tsunami victims. His next big scoop, however, is a story about the school VET programme, with none other than Lucas! Surprised to learn Summer knows Lucas, Bradley suggests she come along with him to help break the ice.
Harold's
Rhys arrives; Vanessa has concocted some contrivance to make Rhys think she needs him to ice the rest of her cupcakes. Rhys falls for it and, while Vanessa makes coffee for Lou, he gets to work with the icing.

Susan is surprised to find herself enjoying the pole-dancing class. She admits to Evie it's her first time but says she thinks she'll be back for the next session. Evie gives her a leaflet to take away with the dates and times.
Harold's
Rhys's injured hand means he promptly makes a complete mess of the cupcakes, which makes Vanessa suspicious; she asks him if he lied about the hospital tests, since Karl said he'd be fine and he blatantly isn't. Rhys tells her it will get better in time, but won't happen overnight. Vanessa says she's worried about him, but Rhys says the hospital wouldn't put him back on the programme if they didn't think he was capable. He walks out, unimpressed with her attempts to test him.
Kate, who has been eavesdropping on their argument, volunteers to help Vanessa pack the cupcakes into boxes as they talk about Rhys, his hand and the surgery programme. Kate can't resist dropping in a comment about how Rhys got onto the surgery programme in the first place after initially missing the boat. Vanessa asks Kate what Rhys did to get admitted, but Kate says it would be best for her to talk to him about it.

Summer and Bradley arrive for the interview with Lucas, and Bradley is also introduced to Lou. Bradley conducts a short interview, taking no notes, while Summer scribbles furiously throughout.
Charlie's
Summer and Bradley stop off for a drink; Summer ruthlessly interrogates him about his interview style, expressing surprise that he didn't ask Lucas more questions or take any notes. Bradley says his method is unorthodox, but that it works for him. Summer's still sceptical that he can write a full story with so little information, so Bradley asks her to prove him wrong: Summer can go back and ask Lucas more questions, then they'll each go away and write the story in their own way, and compare their results.
Harold's
Susan admires a new pair of silver heels she's bought for her pole-dancing class, and looks at the leaflet Evie gave her. When Priya comes in she quickly hides the leaflet. Priya remarks that Susan is glowing and that the dance class must have done her good. When Priya suggests she might join her next time, Susan plays it down and pretends the class wasn't much good. But as Priya leaves it's clear Susan thinks the exact opposite.

Summer and Bradley compare their finished stories; Summer quickly realises that Bradley's is far superior. He tells her she's covered all the basics and that her instincts are good - but that her work needs more humanity. Bradley says this will come with time, and offers to share his byline with her due to all the work she's done on the story. Summer thanks him, clearly impressed.
Charlie's
Summer shows off her byline to Lucas and Chris, but admits it's really Bradley's work. Lucas seems pleased with the way the article's been written and how he's come across, despite heavy teasing by Chris, who's particularly amused to find that Lucas referred to him as his star pupil.
CHRIS: You mentioned me?
LUCAS: Yeah, I told him not to print that bit.
CHRIS: Oh, Lucas, that's really beautiful!
LUCAS: You are really pushing it today!
Impressed, Lucas asks Summer to tell Bradley his first service at the garage will be on the house.

Vanessa brings Rhys a cupcake by way of apology, and asks if they're okay. Vanessa tells him if his hand isn't right, he can't just keep avoiding doing surgery forever - the hospital needs to know. Rhys tells her he just needs more time, but says he can't talk to Martin or Jessica. When Vanessa asks why, Rhys admits he doctored his test results.
RHYS: When they moved the test forward a week I knew my hand wasn't ready. I knew it was gonna stuff everything up.
VANESSA: So your hand's not getting better.
RHYS: Of course it is. I know it is. But if they saw those results...
Rhys insists Karl doesn't know what he's talking about, and that he can feel his hand getting stronger. Vanessa's sceptical; he failed the test and yet he's assisting with surgery. Rhys assures her he'd never put a patient in danger and that he knows what he's doing. Vanessa asks him how far it's going to go, but Rhys begs her not to say anything to anyone; he's told her so she can help him through this.
Harold's
Vanessa tells Rhys that she believes he knows what he's doing, and that she won't tell anyone about what he's done. They hug and he thanks her, telling her it will only be for a couple of weeks while his hand improves. As he leaves, she spies the poorly-iced cupcakes on the side and calls him back, telling him he mustn't do anything he's not supposed to. He kisses her, and promises she has nothing to worry about.
