Harold's Store
Andrew and Tash are having breakfast when Paul comes in. Andrew is still upset about Paul not backing him. Paul tells him to grow up.

Kate comes in and Tash admires the new clothes that she's bought. Paul is not impressed that Kate is spending her trust fund on clothes. Kate says she'll do what she likes! Andrew suddenly looks interested in Kate new-found wealth.

Over a musical montage (why?!) Kate tries on her new clothes and admires herself in the mirror.

Andrew pops round to see her and asks for a loan to cover the equipment hire for Red Cotton. She says she's not really interested and he should ask Paul instead. Andrew changes tack and begs, pointing out that he deleted Summer's footage for Kate - they're family! (apparently) Kate crossly tells him to find his money elsewhere and then throws him out of the house(!)

Ramsay Street
Andrew calls another record company about Red Cotton, but they aren't interested. Sophie comes up and has heard about Red Cotton playing at Charlie's - she's really excited but Andrew tells her it's not going to work out, unless she's got a spare $1,000(!)

Kate is out getting the paper and looks over at Andrew, looking a bit guilty.

Lassiter's
Paul sees Ajay having a photo-shoot with the police. Summer comes over and tells Paul that she's found out something interesting - Ajay is running for re-election. Paul tells her to keep an eye on him. Ajay is now having a photo-shoot with Rani and Priya.

No.22
Paul is Googling Ajay while Callum and Sophie chat about school. Sophie is feeling left out, and says she never sees Rani these days. Callum tells her to just apologise to Priya! Paul suggests that Sophie invites Rani over.

(Later)

Rani, Callum and Sophie are bickering over what movie to watch. Paul says he'll order them some pizza. He tells Rani what a wonderful man her father is(!)

(Later)

The kids have eaten their pizza and are watching the end of the film when Ajay arrives. Paul suggests that he and Ajay have a coffee while the kids see the end of the movie. They go through to the kitchen.

PAUL: So, coffee?
AJAY: Why don't we just skip the part where we pretend to be friends?

Paul gets to the point and says he's heard Ajay is running for re-election - he's surprised Ajay hasn't contacted him for help. Paul says Ajay needs to increase his profile, and the Erinsborough News can help. Ajay looks thoughtful, but doesn't say anything. He and Rani head off.

KATE: Andrew, how many times do you want to hear me say no?!

Andrew has come to beg Kate to lend him $1,000 again, but she's still not interested. He plays the "this is Sophie's all time favourite band" card, but Kate isn't impressed.

Harold's Store
Kate sees Sophie doing her Biology homework at a table. She sits down with her at a table and asks how her new school is. Sophie is not very communicative and tells Kate to stop babying her. Kate looks down and sees a Red Cotton sticker on Sophie's book.

Kate comes to see Andrew and tells him she'll lend him the money for the equipment hire. He is delighted and lifts her off her feet. Kate warns him not to let her down.

Charlie's
Andrew is on the phone to Griffin who isn't particularly impressed with a Charlie's gig (it seems to be too small-time(!)) They do agree though. Paul is in the bar and congratulates Andrew on not relying on handouts. Andrew doesn't tell him about the loan from Kate.

Harold's Store
Priya and Ajay are discussing Paul's publicity offer. Priya thinks that Paul doesn't do anything if there's nothing in it for him. Ajay says he can't serve the community if he's not voted back in.

Ajay goes over and sees Summer, who is writing an article on him(!) Apparently Paul wanted a positive profile piece on Ajay. Ajay gets on the phone to Paul and tells him they need to talk.

Kate is having a quiet evening watching TV when Paul comes round. She's not pleased to see him and says she doesn't want another lecture.

PAUL: I'm worried about you, Kate.
KATE: Well don't be, I'm fine!
PAUL: You are frittering away your trust fund without any thought for the future!
KATE: Well, that's my business!
PAUL: You're working casually in a coffee shop for goodness sakes, you've got no degree, no ambition, no real goals other than to shop.
KATE: What's wrong with that?
PAUL: You're wasting your life, Kate.
KATE: No, I'm not! I get to sleep in whenever I work late, I get to go to the gym when I want, see my friends when I want, I'm finally *living life* for the first time.
PAUL: Really? And where do you think that's going to lead? Oh, come on, Kate, let me set you up with a position at Lassiter's, eh? Hmm?
KATE: I've already got a job!
PAUL: Yeah, but you need a career!
KATE: Why?! Why Paul? All I need is enough money to make sure I'm covering rent here, and enough money for food, and the rest, the trust fund can just take care of.
PAUL: Oh, really! And what happens when that runs out?! Because at the rate you're spending, that's going to happen soon enough.
KATE: Fine, then I'll invest.
PAUL: Oh, really, OK(!)
KATE: In fact, I already have.
PAUL:(surprised) What sort of investment?
KATE: Well, Andrew, he asked me for a loan for the new band he's just signed, and I was more than happy to help.

Paul looks stunned.

PAUL: You gave him the money?
KATE: Yeah! And he's paying me back with interest so technically, I'm going to make a profit.

Paul walks out.

KATE:(shouting after him) See, Paul, I don't need your help with my money!

No.22
Paul storms in and tells Andrew that he knows about the loan from Kate. He calmly tells him that it was a business deal. Paul rants on that Andrew has to stop expecting his family to act as a bank. Andrew has a counter-rant about Paul supporting the rest of the family - like sending Sophie to Eden Hills. When he moved to Erinsborough, Andrew wanted to go to a private school, but Paul wouldn't send him. Paul rushed off to help Kate in Port Douglas.

ANDREW: When I want something, I get nothing from you!
PAUL: Oh, come on, I've lost track of the number of times I've bailed you out!
ANDREW: Dad, then there's Summer! She's not even related to you, then you go and you just give her this job!
PAUL: Summer *earnt* that job. She worked her backside off to prove to me that she deserved it.
ANDREW: See, when I want something, or when I need something, I need to prove myself ten times more than anyone else.
PAUL: No you don't! You just ask and expect to get whatever you want!
ANDREW: Dad, I get nothing from you!

He walks off to his room, just as Ajay arrives.

(Later)

Paul and Ajay sit down for a chat. Ajay tells him that he's decided to turn down Paul's publicity offer. He's thought about it, but he's decided not to have any associations during the campaign race, especially with Paul. Paul has a reputation that's not a good one for politics. Paul is not happy.

PAUL: You're a coward.
AJAY:(reasonably) Our kids are friends, this doesn't have to get nasty.
PAUL: Politics *is* nasty! Now you can pretend that you're as clean-cut as that wife of yours. But I know differently. You see, under that community-minded persona of yours, you're no different to me! You're a man who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to get it.
AJAY: Yeah. But the answer's still no. Sorry.
PAUL: You're going to regret this.
AJAY: You're not the only powerful man in Erinsborough, Paul.

No.28
Paul barges around to see Summer late at night and tells her they are changing the piece on Ajay Kapoor.

PAUL: Write this down. 'Kapoor is compromising resident safety and essential services in order to make him look good. We need more cops on the street, no less'.

Summer points out that the combined Branch isn't going to drop police numbers, but Paul brushes this off as a detail(!) He tells her to write that Ajay is doing a political stunt.

PAUL: I want you to turn the tide against Ajay Kapoor. I want everyone in Erinsborough to know that he's just a self-serving politician with absolutely no interest in the people that he claims to represent.

Summer looks rather shell-shocked and Paul tells her to 'show him what she can do' manipulating public opinion online.

Tomorrow on Neighbours
- Summer is working at the Erinsborough News.
- Red Cotton ticket sales are slow. Andrew tells Chris he's thinking about some sort of stunt.
- Ajay runs a barbecue at the police station.
- Paul makes a scene.
- Susan tells Summer to go wtih her instincts.
- Andrew asks Summer to help him with Red Cotton by writing a piece about them.
