(Later)
Kate explains why she can't be Sophie's guardian any more.
KATE: I'm her sister, not her mum, but if we carry on like this...
She does add that she will still be there for her sister but that Sophie needs a parent, someone she can rely on.
PAUL: And that's not you.
KATE: No, not any more.
Sophie wants Paul to fight to be her guardian despite the DHS turning him down before.

Paul finally gets hold of Andrew when he comes home and asks for his thoughts on becoming Sophie's legal guardian. Andrew is cool with it although Paul is still unsure about it and its Andrew's turn to convince him that what is best for Sophie is her living there permanently with them.
PAUL: I just don't know if I'm the best of examples.
ANDREW: Okay dad, yes you do get things wrong and you can be exceptionally annoying but think of everything that me and you have been through mmm. You've always been my dad. I know some of it's been pretty rough but you took me in when nobody else would.
Father and son share a hug and Andrew's parting words is to let him do the same to Sophie before he heads upstairs.
(Later)
Kate hugs Andrew as the family have a bit of a meeting before Roz comes back. Paul wants 100% confirmation from Sophie that this is what she really wants but both reaffirm that this is what they want.
PAUL: Let's do this.

Initially Susan doesn't reply but after Paul tells her that Sophie's going to end up in foster care, she relents and agrees to but only after she's talked to Sophie.
(Later)
Sophie apologises for running off and admits she thinks she's stuffed everything up because she knew Kate would always be there for her regardless. "I never thought that she would leave me," she admits then realises what Kate had to give up, to care for them. Surprisingly, when Susan asks if she really wants to live with Paul, Soph replies "no" but then goes onto say that she can't live with Kate any more.
SOPHIE: Because if we keep going on like this I'm going to lose her for good. I really don't want to lose her. I just want my sister back.
