Sophie walks back in a daze to the bar, ignoring Paul's offer of fresh food (Andrew scoffed her original burger). She catches up with Kate to ask where Noah is and why is he taking so long to get the amp. Kate is very tactical about her reply so not to let on that something is up before they spot Noah pushing the amp in and thus the 2nd part of the gig begins.
Noah then dedicates a song to "a special girl" and Kate tries not to look at the stage. During the song you can see Sophie looking at Noah/Kate/his songbook, almost trying to put 2+2 together.

Number 28

Noah wraps up the gig and Kate tries to get Sophie to hurry up so they can leave. Sophie acknowledges Kate's request but then drags her feet getting her stuff organised. While Paul takes Kate aside for a chat, Sophie tries to ask Noah about the song but he quickly curtails the chat to go pack up. However, he doesn't pick up his songbook (which was lying at the front of the stage) and hoping nobody saw her, Sophie picks it up and stuffs it into her bag.
Number 24
When Kate heads off to the shower, Sophie goes into her bag and digs out Noah's songbook. When she opens it, she immediately sees it's full of Kate sketches... including one of Noah/Kate kissing! Sophie is shocked at what she sees and immediately shuts the book.
Number 24
Commercial break later and Sophie confronts Kate when she returns after having a shower. "He's in love with you," she tearfully tells her sister but all Kate is really interested in is where she got hold of the book from. Sophie is angry at what she perceives as being used by Noah so he could get close to Kate.
SOPHIE: I can't trust anything he says anymore.
Kate reassures her sister and severely plays down how long it's been going on for, lying that she only found out about it when Sophie was away at camp.
KATE: I didn't want to tell you because its ridiculous and I don't want to be the one to upset you.
SOPHIE: Did he ever actually have a crush on someone?
KATE: I didn't know, that's what he told me.
SOPHIE: So he lied to you as well?
When Kate doesn't immediately reply, Sophie is about to storm out of the house to confront Noah about it. Kate reacts quickly to stop her leaving the house and tells her it isn't a good idea. Sophie pushes her for a reason and Kate explains that she's angry and upset so the last thing she wants her to do is go and say something she'll regret later on.
SOPHIE: I really loved him Kate.
Guiltily, Kate comforts her upset little sister.

Mal and Jade have now taken refuge in his room while Susan and Sonya hold their planning meeting. Eventually the waiting gets to Jade and she tries to escape via the window but it's locked, so is forced to sit and listen to the ladies chat although the conversation has now moved away from books.
They hear Sonya saying that she wishes she could switch off like Jade. "She's a free spirit," Susan remarks which Mal backs up in his room. Jade is surprised to hear Sonya say that she never puts herself out there.
SONYA: She always sticks to the safe and empty option you know guys that she's physical with but feels absolutely nothing for.
SUSAN: Yes it's difficult when someone you care about is heading in the wrong direction. Do you step in, do you give them space.
Sonya jokes that at least Susan has had plenty of practice given the number of kids that have lived in the house over the years. Susan agrees but admits she does fear at times that someone could go off the rails!
SUSAN: Take Mal for instance. He and Catherine went through a rough patch a while ago and no- one saw that coming.
SONYA: They sorted it out?
SUSAN: Yes they did, they worked really hard on their marriage. I'm very proud of Malcolm but I think Mal knows who he is now. I think he's proud of being a good husband. I reckon he'd be a great dad too.
Sonya quickly asks if this means another Kennedy grandchild is on the way but Susan is quick to say it isn't but adds that neither of them are getting any younger!
SUSAN: And I suspect deep down Mal would love a family.
All the time they've been chatting, Mal and Jade have been listening to the conversation and at times have seemed quite uncomfortable about what was being said.

Paul is ecstatic at hearing from Dane that Lucas has turned the offer to sell the garage down. He is in such a good mood that he leaves Rhys and Dane some cash to have a drink on him after rejecting the offer to join them citing that he doesn't do male bonding!
Dane wants them to drink the good fancy stuff but Rhys just wants to stick to his usual as he has to work on his interview (with Martin) tomorrow and doesn't want to waste his day off recovering... that and he can't handle his drink these days.
RHYS: Three drinks and its over. I think I did my dash in medical school!
DANE: I thought you were perfect.
RHYS: Even Superman's got kryptonite.
Dane then spots a lassie and rather likes the look of her. "Let's see what you've got," Rhys tells him as Dane heads towards the lady.
(Later)
Rhys sits in the background and watches Dane try and turn on the charm. He leaves to go get another drink but then decides to go to the toilet and asks Rhys to keep an eye on her for him in case someone tries to muscle in... except Rhys makes a move on the lady himself!
Number 24
Sophie leaves a voicemail message with Noah asking he gets in contact with her. Kate hears the end of the call and asks what it's about and Soph explains she was calling him to cancel her lessons.
SOPHIE: I think it's better for everyone if he just stays away from you.
KATE: Yes well what about you?
SOPHIE: It's better for me too.
Kate points out that Sophie loves her music, which she confirms but replies that there are other ways for her to learn as well as other teachers.
SOPHIE: I'm okay. Seriously, I'll be fine.
Number 28
It is music to Jade and Mal's ears when they hear Susan announce that she is going to walk Sonya home because it means a chance finally for Jade to leave! Just before she leaves, she also drops a bombshell - that it's over between them too after hearing what Susan said.
MAL: It's just what she thinks.
JADE: Do you want a family?
MAL: Not especially. I mean I hear they're hard work.
She isn't happy with is reply so asks him the question again and his silence says it all.
JADE: Do you love your wife?
MAL: (nodding) Yes.
JADE: And she loves you?
MAL: ...
JADE: Then why do you need me? Look this has been fun, really fun but the trick with fun is to know you've had enough. Go back to your lovely wife in London. Like your mum said, you're a good husband and you'll be a great father. Just don't try to be anything else. Bye Mal.
Number 26
Jade arrives home and spots the note saying where her housemates are... and as she pulls it off the fridge, spots a photo of herself and Kyle. The phone ringing distracts her from staring at the photo too long.

Dane returns from the toilet a bit late - someone was having a go at the Cats and couldn't let it go! He then spots that Lucy has done but Rhys did get her number for him!
Number 26
Jade takes a message for Rhys - his interview for the surgical programme is now going to be tomorrow morning at 8am! She pins it up on the message board as Mal arrives.
Charlie's
Dane seems confused to the reason why Lucy gave her number to Rhys.
RHYS: She left her number. What does it matter?
DANE: It matters.
RHYS: Okay, alright. She didn't specifically say that it was for you but, you know if you're keen give her a call.
DANE: You're just wrong.
Number 26
It looks like Mal and Jade have obliterated their recent conversation from their minds as they gravitate towards one another and begin pashing like its their first time!
JADE: Are you sure about this?
MAL: No.
But that doesn't stop him resuming pashing her!
Charlie's
Rhys tries to hand Lucy's number over to Dane but he isn't interested and indeed throws the beer mat away! He then orders them some more drink as Paul's money isn't finished yet... and Dane tells the silent barman to make then doubles when Rhys moves away from the bar!
Number 26
Jade and Mal are getting very up close and personal on the pashing front and accidentally dislodge the note for Rhys from the noticeboard in their haste to get to her room. Oops!
Number 26 (next day)
Rhys can't work out why he is hung- over!
RHYS: We weren't even out that late last night. There's no way I should be feeling like this.
DANE: Hey that's alright. Just remember, this is Australia, and no one's going to hold something like you not being able to handle a big night out against you...I won't.
The phone then starts ringing and Rhys takes himself off to answer it and discovers he's late for his interview! He apologises to Martin (the caller) and rejects the chance to cancel the interview; he will be there in 20 minutes!
After hanging up, Rhys asks Dane if he took a message about the interview (he didn't) then twigs it must have been Jade before rushing off to get ready.
