Recap
Michelle refusing to leave number 26.
Michael deciding not to send Tash to boarding school.
Tash hearing water.
Lucas deciding to buy the garage; Paul questioning if he's ready for that commitment.
Number 26
A cat screams as Lucas looks at the property details for the garage, and recollects Paul's comments that he might not be good enough to run it. Toadie and Sonya come over to make sure he's coming to the garden opening tomorrow, and see notice the property information, thrilled he's going to the garage's owner. Lucas snaps at them: he's not buying it.
Number 32
Tash sits on her bed listing things on post it notes, then screwing them up. Michael comes in to tell her dinner's ready, and she tells him to look at the notes. He unscrews them and reads through: all the stupid things she's done in the past few months. She's putting them behind her, symbolically, to have a new beginning. Her dad's proud of her.
He apologises for not believing how serious she was about the nose job, and tells her to come to him in the future. Tash says he can talk to her, too - or she could just give him advice about fashion. His choice.
Number 26
It's 3am and Michelle wakes up Kyle and Jade by using the blender very loudly. They know she's doing this on purpose to get back at them for wanting her out, and she tells them that she has a day off tomorrow. So she'll be at home all day, or going to Sonya's grand garden opening.
Michelle trots to the lounge, turning the TV on loudly, and Kyle and Jade agree to leave it for now and handle it in the morning.
The Beach
Michael surfs. He sits down on the beach. He watches the waves. He has an image of a woman and child in the water, playing. Another image of drowning. What can it mean. WHAT CAN IT MEAN?!
Erinsborough High School
Tash is walking to her lockers when she receives a text saying "Noseflash! She's back!!!"
Noseflash: Tash still owns an six year old Nokia. Get with it, girl.
Tash glares at the girl who's smirking next to her, and Chris comes over, wondering if she's glad to be back at school. Tash admits she is. Chris starts talking about how the garage sale will affect his mechanics studies, but Tash is zoning out, hearing the water noise in her head again. Chris suggests she gets a candle that burns wax out of her ears; Tash thinks ear drops would be better.
The Community Garden
Toadie and Sonya compliment each other on their brilliance. There's a fruit juice stall, a lucky dip for packets of seeds, and plants for sale. Kyle and Jade debate how to get rid of Michelle: Kyle insists she leave it to him and stay away from their crazy housemate before disappearing.
Sonya says hi to Jade, but Jade needs a caffeine shot so leaves to get a coffee. Lucas does the lucky dip and gets some mystery seeds. Son tells Lucas how great the garden business is, and reminds Lucas that being in business can be wonderful...
Harold's Store
Jade runs into Michael who asks after Tash. Michael says that she's good, and back at school. Oooh, feel the shippiness!
Erinsborough High School
Tash is still plagued by water sounds.
Harold's Store
Michael gets a call from the bric- a- brac store; the photo from the Badloves album has been found. Michael's thrilled. As Jade leaves, he thanks her for what he did for Tash; she comments that perhaps his daughter should stay away from water for a while. Cue a disturbed look from Michael, and a memory of screaming for someone in the water...
Erinsborough High School
Chris asks Tash if she can hear anything other than the water. Tash says she can only hear the water, and it sounds like the beach. Chris hypothesises. Perhaps she's thinking of their planned schoolies trip, at the ocean. Perhaps it's a sensory thing, reminding her of someone. Perhaps her pool fall reminds her of the ocean, and something that happened...
In his office, whilst Chris talks about what Tash might be remembering, Michael looks at the photo of him, Tash as a child, and her mother.
Back in the corridor Tash doesn't remember anything specific, so Chris thinks it would be a good idea for her to ask her dad.
Carpenter's Garage
Lucas arrives to open up, but when he gets there, Paul and Dominic Clare (businessman) are waiting. Paul explains that Dom might want to add the garage to his list of business assets, and perhaps Lucas might want to stay on as mechanic...?
Inside the garage Dominic criticises the old equipment, and takes a look around. Paul suggests to Lucas that Mr Clare's impersonal approach will be the way of the future. Lucas isn't best pleased.
The Community Garden
Sonya takes an order over the phone, thrilled, when Lucas returns to see her. He helps her pack up the plant order, and Sonya asks him why he decided not to buy the garage after all. Lucas doesn't want to be tied down to anything, but Sonya reminds him there's always a chance that people will stuff things up - we have to take risks. And with family and friends behind them, good things can happen when they take the chance.
Number 26
Despite it being the middle of the day, Michelle gets up and finds Kyle and Jade in the kitchen with a peace offering. It's a plant, with a card, and all the rent money plus the bond she's paid so far. They're buying her out. She realises how serious they are, but insists she still needs time to think about it.
Charlie's
Lucas hands Paul an offer and a deposit for the garage as a business. Conditional on a few things. Paul agrees to pass the offer to Elle, and as Lucas leaves Paul smiles to himself; he got what he wanted.
Number 26
Kyle and Jade return home to find the house quiet. They think Michelle must be packing, but on the kitchen table is their money, card and flower. With a 'thanks but no thanks' note. Suddenly, very loud music starts playing from Michelle's room.
They have the housemate from hell.
Erinsborough High School
Tash goes into Michael's office to talk. She tells him that she keeps hearing the ocean in her ears - seagulls and waves - and that Chris wondered if it was something from when she was little. She asks directly if anything happened when they used to spend Christmas at the beach, and her dad says he doesn't think so...
Michael said the beach wasn't really her mum's type, so he only took her down there after mum passed away. Tash apologises. She didn't want to bring it up, it's just annoying and weird. She'll use the ear drops instead. As she leaves, Michael tells her he loves her.
Cut to later and Tash is telling Chris that her dad didn't have any ideas for her, and he was sweet about it. She feels like she can talk to him now without them keeping secrets from each other anymore. She'll go see a doctor if needs be, but she's not stressing about it.
In the meantime, Michael stares at the photo again. He turns it over: Bells Beach, 02 Sep 1995.
