- Sophie hanging out with Noah
- Chris not agreeing with his dad about university
- Jade and Kyle having trouble with Michelle
Number 26
Jade and Kyle suffer in the lounge room while Michelle and Lucas smooch away in the kitchen. When Lucas finally leaves and Michelle goes to bed, Kyle says they still have to kick Michelle out, but Jade doesn't think they can do that to a mate's girlfriend. Kyle isn't sure Lucas is all that serious about Michelle, though, so Jade tells him to find out.
Number 28
Summer, Andrew, Tash and Chris are gathered together to look through the VTAC guide to choose their uni preferences for next year. Summer's all about Journalism, Andrew's doing a business course and Tash is picking a few different things (with the option to change her mind later). Chris is being evasive about what he wants to do, even though the forms are due tomorrow. To escape Summer's constant questions, Chris says he has to meet his dad at Lassiter's. Tash joins him for the walk.
Number 30
Sophie's helping Callum with his English homework but draws the line at actually writing the whole thing herself. Callum wants her to stay for a while and watch a movie (quietly of course since Toadie's working in the kitchen), but Sophie wants to head home and get in some guitar practice before bed. Cal says he'll walk with her to school tomorrow morning, getting a "solid" from Sophie (meaning "good").
Lassiter's Complex
Tash is complaining about Summer stressing everyone out about next year, but having heard her yap non- stop from Ramsay Street, Chris has had enough.
CHRIS: Give it a rest already.
TASH: Alright, don't blow a sprocket.
CHRIS: (smiling) You mean a gasket?
TASH: A what?
CHRIS: You don't blow a sprocket, you blow a gasket.
TASH: What do you do with a sprocket then?
CHRIS: Oh don't pretend you're the slightest bit interested.
Tash can tell how much Chris is enjoying working at the garage and wonders why he's even thinking about uni when he could do an apprenticeship instead. Chris admits he's having issues with his dad about it, so Tash tells him to stand up for himself and let his dad know he wants something different for his future.
Number 28/Number 22/Lassiter's Complex
Susan looks through the Journalism criteria with Summer in the VTAC guide. Summer's worried she won't get into the course as they're only accepting forty people, but Susan smiles and says there's no reason Summer can't be one of the forty. As a precaution, though, Susan thinks Summer could also apply for other courses she's interested in, but Summer only wants the Journalism one.
Paul wants to have a chat with Andrew about his uni preferences but Andrew says Summer's already sussed out the best ones. Instead, Andrew shows Paul the backpacker research he's doing.
PAUL: Andrew you are not going backpacking.
ANDREW: Yeah, I'm not going backpacking.
PAUL: I'm serious.
ANDREW: And I'm agreeing with you. Dad do I look like the type of person that would go backpacking?
Andrew lies and says he's sourcing info for an Economics project, so Paul offers to give him a hand. Andrew isn't sure whether to accept.
George sits down with Chris and shows him the VTAC guide he bought, with post- it notes already stuck inside. George wants to go through the guide tonight with his son and says he found a compromise - becoming a mechanical engineer. That way Chris can still work with cars but he'll have a degree, too. Chris says his marks might not be up to scratch, and the fees will be too high, but looks guilty when George says he's been putting some money away for a while now.
First Commercial Break
Number 28/Number 22/Lassiter's Complex
In the millionth musical montage for the year, Susan makes a cuppa for Summer while she fills out her VTAC forms, Andrew researches more info for his backpacker hostel idea and Chris wallows in his own misery about his future.
Erinsborough High - Next Morning
Callum looks put out when he sees Sophie hanging around with Noah in a classroom learning more guitar chords, especially since they were supposed to walk to school together. Noah departs, bumping fists with Sophie and exchanging a "solid", which just irks Callum more. When they're alone, Callum says what's on his mind.
CALLUM: Please tell me this is not Zeke all over again.
SOPHIE: What?
CALLUM: Your new guitar hero?
SOPHIE: Noah?
CALLUM: (mocking him) Soliiiiiid.
Sophie says Noah's just teaching her how to play the guitar and resents the fact that Callum's making something out of nothing. She thinks he's just jealous she's found a hobby she really enjoys.
Harold's Store
Andrew's telling Summer about his backpacker research when they bump into Chris and Tash getting coffees. Summer can't help asking if they've got their VTAC forms. Tash groans in annoyance and shows hers, but when Summer and Andrew walk off she mutters that she didn't fill it in. Tash asks Chris where his form is but he says he forgot it. She then asks if he "manned up" to his dad last night and spoke his mind, so Chris lies and says they met in the middle and he's happy with the decision.
Lassiter's Complex
Kyle and Jade meet up to go for a jog but are aghast to see Michelle and Lucas sitting down for breakfast together outside Charlie's. They see Lucas go inside to order, so Kyle decides to go in after him and have that chat to suss out the Michelle situation, "dude to dude".
Charlie's Bar
The "dude to dude" chat doesn't go very well because Lucas doesn't like being interrogated. He thinks Michelle put Kyle up to it, but Kyle says he's just curious.
KYLE: Two dates in two days.
LUCAS: So?
KYLE: I'm just saying, if I were a chick I'd take that to mean you were pretty keen.
LUCAS: If you were a chick you'd be an ugly one.
Kyle ends up feeling pretty bad when Lucas admits that hanging out with Michelle has been a nice distraction from trying to deal with his dad's death and the ramifications. Lucas says that Michelle thinks Kyle and Jade are awesome housemates. Kyle lies through his teeth and says Michelle's pretty awesome too.
Second Commercial Break
Lassiter's Complex
Paul's on the phone to the airline about his trip to NY and completely bypasses poor Freckles without so much as a wave. Chris spots Lucas outside Charlie's and sits down for a chat (while Michelle's inside).
CHRIS: You know how uni preferences are due today?
LUCAS: ... Not really, but yeah.
Way to go, teacher Lucas. Chris explains that his dad wants him to do mechanical engineering, but he'd much rather do an apprenticeship next year. Lucas would love to offer advice but says he's the last person to ask about dealing with fathers. Michelle returns and Lucas makes quick introductions before Chris heads back to school. As Chris walks away, Lucas suggests he just be honest about what he wants - his dad might come around.
Number 26
Kyle plays around on one of Jade's Swiss exercise balls while he tells her about the Lucas and Michelle situation, nearly rolling off and breaking his neck in the process. They're not sure how they're supposed to go about things now that Lucas has admitted why he likes hanging out with Michelle. Thinking it over, Kyle reckons that Lucas might get sick of Michelle soon - it'll just take him longer because he's not living with her.
KYLE: Sooner or later she'll cross the line with him and he'll realise what a headcase she is and move on.
JADE: That's your plan? Do nothing?
KYLE: It ticks all the boxes! We stay in Lucas's good books and she'll probably want to leave the street anyway.
JADE: Yeah only then we're kicking a heartbroken girl out of her home.
KYLE: Hey at least I'm giving something a crack. What have you done?
JADE: Fine, we'll wait it out. Maybe she won't stay annoying? Maybe she just goes through cycles of annoying and... Not annoying.
KYLE: Yeah... Maybe.
They don't look too convinced with their plan, though.
Erinsborough High
Callum catches up with Sophie and apologises for this morning, saying he was just grumpy. He asks Sophie if she wants to have lunch together but Soph says she's booked out the music room to practise her guitar. Callum offers to sit in the room with her and offer feedback, but Sophie says she'd rather play for him when she's got the hang of it better.
Cal glumly sits in a classroom by himself. He calls Toadie and leaves a voicemail, wondering what to do about a best friend who has a new interest you're not interested in, but then tells his dad not to worry. Callum then goes to ring Sonya for advice, but hangs up half way through.
Tash and Chris are talking about lunch plans in the hallway when they see George hanging around. George smiles and tells Chris he left his VTAC form in the car this morning - wouldn't want him missing out on the course selection! He then gives his son some money for lunch, but when George leaves, Tash snatches the money away and tells Chris he'll get it back when he spills what's really going on.
Third Commercial Break
Erinsborough High
After Chris fills her in on what happened, Tash asks what Chris was going to do about the form. Chris admits he didn't have a plan, he just needed more time to figure things out. Tash starts to hang crap on George, calling him an idiot, but Chris still sticks up for his dad. He may not agree with his choices, but says it's nice to have his dad in his corner for once. It's been a while since that's happened. The bell goes and they walk to their next class - but Tash doesn't see Chris throw the VTAC form in the bin on their way out.
