Number 32
Michael tells Oliver that he and Rebecca have made the right decision, but Oliver's not too sure. He thinks what his mum wants and what she actually needs are two different things. Declan checks to see if they're OK while Michael mulls this over.
Harold's Store
Kate is trying to convince Jade that relationships are worth it, but Jade can't stand the thought of being around a clingy guy. Not to mention all the questions a relationship brings up, like the number of people you've dated. Kate claims she doesn't want to know Mark's "number" but her morbid curiosity has been piqued.
Number 32
Declan tells Rebecca that there's still time to come with them to Portugal and reminds her that Paul won't let up the revenge act any time soon. But Rebecca says she can't leave Michael and doesn't want to argue with Dec on his last day. Declan says they can stay if she wants them to, but Rebecca holds back tears and says she can't deny him this brand new start in life.
Harold's Store
Oliver shushes Declan from talking about Rebecca when they see Paul at the counter behaving like his usual oh so charming self. Kate stops by on her way to see Mark and is introduced to Oliver. Declan looks as though he wants to tell Kate about the Portugal plan and say a proper goodbye, but Oliver signals for him to keep it a secret.
Charlie's Bar
Kate sneaks up on Mark while he's sitting outside and they muck around, but Kate feels uneasy when a blonde woman blatantly hits on her boyfriend in front of her. Kate can't help asking Mark how many women he's been with, but Mark just looks uncomfortable and doesn't answer, choosing to go inside and gets drinks instead.
Mark finds Lucas playing darts and tells him Kate wants to know his "number". Lucas doesn't get what the big deal is, but then assumes from the look on Mark's face that he's been with a lot of girls.
Jade sees Kate sitting by her lonesome and gets filled in about the "number" conversation. Jade can tell Kate's anxious and can't help wondering what number Kate thinks would be too high.
Lucas informs Mark that the only way out of this is to lie and tell Kate the "magic number" - nine. He claims it's the Goldilocks number, it's not too low or too high. Mark isn't sure he could lie to Kate, but Lucas says to trust him on this.
It's too bad Jade's already let Kate know that if a guy says nine that means he's lying. Kate doesn't think Mark would be capable of that so Jade smiles and says she's got nothing to worry about.
Lassiter's Complex
Declan joins his mum and Michael for a coffee, commenting that she should keep her engagement "ring" hidden for a while. His fears are confirmed when Paul saunters by, but Michael takes hold of Rebecca's hand and rests it in full view on the table. Paul sees the ring and snarks about Michael being a cheapskate, then launches into another attack about dragging Rebecca through the divorce courts for as long as possible. Michael tries to push Paul away, but this doesn't deter him.
PAUL: I'm coming after you, Rebecca. You and everyone around you and I'm not going to stop. I'm never going to stop.
First Commercial Break
Number 32
Michael's riled up and wants to ring Toadie about getting an AVO out on Paul, but Rebecca knows that's not going to stop Paul. He'll just go after someone else. Oliver and Carmella walk in and find out what's going on. Oliver can't help suggesting that his mum come to Portugal for a holiday as a compromise, which Declan agrees with. But Michael takes this as a personal insult that he can't look after Rebecca himself and tells Oliver and Dec to back off.
Charlie's Bar
Jade and Lucas each pretend they're not spying on Kate and Mark playing pool, waiting for the whole "number" debacle to be resolved. Mark gives Kate the nine lie, but Kate says she just wants the truth. Mark admits that he's only been with four women, including Kate, but didn't want to tell her because it sounded lame. Kate just smiles and says four is the perfect number.
Ramsay Street
Carmella finds Rebecca sitting on the hood of Michael's car after things got too intense inside. Paul scowls at them from across the street while Rebecca admits that part of her wants to leave - but she couldn't abandon Michael. Carmella says they can't tell Rebecca what to do but she'll always have their support.
Number 32
Rebecca tries to assure Michael that things will eventually settle down, but against Michael's better judgement he tells Rebecca that she has to go. He can see now that it's the only way she's ever going to get some peace.
MICHAEL: What we're doing, we're doing for me. I thought it might be enough to stop him but Paul's never going to stop. Not while you're here.
REBECCA: (tearful) I can't lose you.
MICHAEL: You'll never lose me. But this isn't about me, it's about you and your family having the lives you deserve.
REBECCA: But Michael I said yes to you for a reason. I love you, this is what I want.
MICHAEL: (upset) It's not what you need. There's only one way this is ever going to end. You have to leave.
A short while later Declan, Oliver and Carmella have gathered in the lounge with Michael after Rebecca fled to the bedroom. Michael says he owes Oliver an apology, but Oliver just smiles and says he doesn't. When Carmella heads out to check on the girls she passes Rebecca in the hallway carrying a suitcase. She's made her decision. Michael goes over to her, the both of them looking stricken.
REBECCA: I still don't know if I can do this.
MICHAEL: Yeah you can. You have to.
Declan says they need to head off soon but Rebecca says there's one last thing she needs to do. Michael tries to put on a brave face but it's eating him up inside.
Second Commercial Break
Number 28
Rebecca calls in to see Susan and let her know she's leaving Erinsborough for good. Susan's stunned, even more so when Rebecca lays another whammy on her - she was the one who pushed Paul. Rebecca's told her because she wants Susan to keep the statement of no complaint in a safe place and to try and convince Kate to go to the police and clear her name. That way there's no room for error. Rebecca apologises for leaving her with this burden then starts to cry and says she has to go. They hug one another tightly.
Number 24
Jade teases Lucas and lets Kate know that he was the one to set Mark up with the magic number. They all laugh about Mark taking relationship advice from Lucas, which Lucas doesn't find very funny. Mark says that from now on he and Kate won't keep secrets from one another. Kate just plasters on a grin and tries not to think about her little lie to the police. Good luck with that.
Ramsay Street
Oliver, Carmella, Declan and the girls are packing up the car while Rebecca and Michael hold on to one another. Rebecca knows if she says anything she'll just cry, so they kiss each other one last time and linger in a hug. Paul watches them from across the street in confusion and becomes alarmed when Rebecca strides over and lets him know she's leaving the country.
REBECCA: You can't hurt me or my family ever again.
Paul is suddenly full of regret over the thought of never seeing her again and pathetically starts to apologise to her. He chases after her to the car, trying to grab onto her arm, but Michael holds him back. Rebecca gives them one last look before the car door slides shut. Kate and Susan appear from their houses just in time to see the station wagon drive out of the street. Michael's devastated but Paul is full of rage and loathing at Michael for allowing Rebecca to leave. Michael knows he's done the right thing, but the poor thing looks gutted. Before Kate can go inside, Susan calls her over for a chat.
Third Commercial Break
Number 28
Kate can't believe what Susan's just told her about the Napiers, but clams up when Susan says she knows *everything*. Kate tries to say she had nothing to do with Rebecca and Paul, but Susan says she has a copy of the statement and a plea from Rebecca to look after her. Susan tells Kate she has to go to the police and confess that her alibi was a fake.
