Recap
- Lyn comforting Summer about Andrew being the father of Natasha's baby
- Summer staying at number 28
- The rumour circulating that Zeke and Summer are a couple
- Kate being caught at the garage by Garland who tells her she won't be leaving
Garage
Tension is in the air as Garland wants someone to explain why Kate is there. Mark does some quick thinking and nonchalantly says that she's just a girl he picked up at the bar earlier and was supposed to meet at the garage - but it was supposed to be later. Garland seems to accept the reason and tells everyone to get back to loading the stuff. Mark nods at Kate and she looks rather terrified at the situation she's in.
Number 32
Lyn is leaving a message for the builders asking about her house. She's nervous as hell and wants to ask about a timeframe, but she doesn't want to sound pushy, just wants to be prepared. She stutteringly completes the call and is irritated at her own awkwardness.
Number 28
We see Summer reading a book on the couch until she's interrupted by the return of Karl and Susan with groceries. Karl is on the phone with the printer who is apparently very impressed with the calendar.
SUSAN: 'Til they get their money they'll tell you anything.
Karl leaves in excitement to pick up the calendars and Susan notices Summer looking rather glum. She inquires on the whereabouts of Zeke and suggests putting the kettle on for a chat.
Later, Summer has told Susan all about the rumours and how upsetting it is. Susan tells her that as long as she and Zeke know the rumours aren't true, then it'll be OK. Sum wants Susan to keep it from Lyn though - Susan hesitates before assuring her that she will, although she suggests that it would be good if Summer told Lyn herself. Summer insists that she doesn't want to worry her Nan about it.
Number 32
We briefly cut back to Number 32 where Lyn is idly flipping through magazines and looking lonely.
Garage
Garland is overlooking proceedings but mainly he's looking at Brennan and Kate. Brennan tells Kate to take his phone out of his pocket and they kiss so that Kate can get closer and make it less obvious. Lucas walks past Garland and tries to get his attention away from Kate and Brennan but is not very successful. Garland comments how odd it is that Billy has bailed on him. Meanwhile, Brennan wants Kate to dial 9 on his phone, but she wants to know why he doesn't do it. Is now really the best time to be arguing with him about this, Kate? Kate presses something before Garland creeps up behind them and she quickly hides the phone behind her back.
Harold's Store
Jade is flipping through the calendar along with Summer and Susan. The word that they can find to describe the pictures is "natural".
JADE: Look, you haven't even let them airbrush out all the little jiggly bits!
Karl is offended and Susan bursts out laughing, but Karl accepts it as fact when Jade points something out on his photo. Karl then puts his foot in it by saying to Jade:
KARL: I can't wait to see YOU in all your glory.
There is awkward silence for a moment until Summer offers "ew". Karl quickly clarifies that he didn't mean it like that! The girls start winding Karl up about what they'll use the shed for - a day spa? A craft bar? A book club? Jade leaves just as Lyn walks in the door. Susan offers tea (which is odd, since Lyn owns the place) and Lyn sits down. Lyn sees the calendar but Susan tells her to put it down if she's just eaten! She quickly gets into gossip mode and wants to talk about the latest: Rebecca and Michael. Susan tactfully says that nobody really knows what was going on with the situation anyway.
LYN: Oh, oh, we shouldn't gossip. Yeah, yeah. But still, ya know. *Michael* and *Rebecca*!
She can't really help herself! Summer tries to shush her up and Lyn diverts her attention to Sum. Is she OK? Because she can always talk to her about it if it wasn't. Summer quickly makes assurances and escapes to grab a drink. Lyn can tell that something is upsetting her though, and Susan tells her that Summer just needs time to deal with some things. Lyn is shocked that Summer has confided in Susan and not her.
Garage
All the stock has been loaded in the van and Brennan tries to make an escape route for Kate by saying that he'll travel with the boys and call her later. Garland, however, points out that he can't do that since she has Brennan's phone. Garland wants to take Kate for a ride to see whether she can shed light on the fact that Billy has mysteriously failed to turn up and Mark has turned up. Kate rather idiotically calls out for Mark, which is an interesting development for Garland since Mark is going by the name "Robbie"! Help is here just in time as we hear sirens in the background. Lucas has his arm around a bewildered Kate and Brennan arrests Garland.
Outside Police Station
Mark is leading the crims inside and he tells Kate and Lucas that they'll have to give statements. Toadie has also turned up (was he called or did they bump into him, I'm not sure). Mark leaves to go inside but is stopped by Kate who wants to talk to him about it. Now. Not later. She wants to know whether he had considered Lucas' welfare when he dragged him into the mess. Lucas confesses to Kate that he wasn't dragged into anything - he was already in the mess and Mark was trying to help him out. Brennan leaves to let them figure it out and Kate turns to Lucas. He apologises for putting Kate and Sophie at risk since the break- in was directed at him. Kate is not happy with just a "sorry" and wants Lucas to stay away from them.
Police Station (Interview Room)
Kate has made her statement and Mark asks her to sign it.
KATE: That's it? No 'thanks'?
Well I wouldn't be thanking you at all, but whatever. Mark seems to agree and he says that whilst it was great she made the phone call, he doesn't know why she was snooping around there in the first place. She unapologetically says that she thought the secrecy was because he was planning her birthday. He sighs and no doubt represses an eye roll. Or maybe he does eye roll, but his back is to camera so we can't see. Anyway, Mark wants Kate to go easy on Lucas because it's complicated. Kate thinks it's pretty simple though - he put them in danger. Mark can see there's no use arguing with her right now and asks what she wants to do. She simply signs her statement and asks if they're done.
Charlie's
Toadie has just told Sonya, Jade and Callum the details about Lucas' involvement. Sonya is shocked but Callum wants to know how many cop cars there were - it matters when you're telling the story at school! Toad quickly tells a disappointed Cal that he is not to tell anyone. Jade offers her stance on it: she knew Lucas was dodgy. She has a mini argument with Sonya who insists that Lucas would not have put them in danger deliberately but Jade thinks that that is simply the excuse of an addict.
Number 28
Lyn has come home with the K's bringing along an orange and poppy seed cake in the hopes of finding out what is bugging Summer. Summer, however, makes another escape by taking some school work and going to her room. Karl and Susan look on awkwardly. Lyn changes the subject by asking if Susan has heard from Rebecca. Susan says she hasn't and puts it down to Rebecca (and Michael) laying low for the time being. Suse suddenly remembers that she has to go to work - yes, on a weekend. To check that Paul hasn't put his private life on the front page! Lynnie picks up her bag to go but Susan tells Lyn to stay and make herself at home.
Lyn is left with Karl and looks uncertain what to do and Karl suggests they check up on the latest calendar sales. Lyn quietly thanks Karl for letting Summer stay but he assures her that it's been a pleasure. Especially since it's felt like an empty nest lately. He mentions Ringo, then hesitates as he remembers the awkwardness that the subject brings up, and quickly moves on by mentioning Donna leaving and the impending departure of Zeke. Karl says that Sum is welcome to stay as long as she wants and Lyn looks away jealously. She tunes back in as Karl shows her the sales movements - they've sold six more since he last checked!
Ramsay Street
Kate is angrily storming home when she bumps into Lucas. He tells her that he did it for the rush, the thrill, the feeling that he couldn't lose. She doesn't accept this as a reason and wants him to move out.
Number 30
Jade opens the door to Lucas who has come to chat with Sonya. Jade wants him to man- up and Sonya wants a few moments alone to talk to Lucas. Sonya is sympathetic - he made a mistake and he needs help. She wants him to learn from the mistake and move forward.
Harold's Store
Mark has come in search for Kate - he knew she'd be there even though she's not working. He explains that he has tried to keep his professional life away from her which is why he hasn't said anything. Jade/Toadie/Callum walk in and Toadie goes to have a word with Kate. Kate is annoyed that everyone is defending Lucas but Toadie clarifies that he is not defending the actions of Lucas, but he knows that Lucas wouldn't put other people in harms way on purpose. Kate counters that if it were Sonya and Callum who were put at risk, he wouldn't be saying the same thing. Toadie can see that she won't change her mind so he leaves.
Kate has stepped outside and Lucas arrives to talk to her. He wants her to know that he knows he has a problem and he is going to get help. Kate is glad to hear it but she's still unwilling to have him around her and Sophie at the moment.
Number 30
Callum is trying to tell Lucas' story to Lyn with fabrications about the number of cop cars before Toadie tells him to drop it. They extend a dinner invitation to Lyn who hesitates about intruding but eventually gratefully accepts as things are weird at the Williams household what with Michael being rather quiet and Tash hiding in her room. Talk turns to Summer staying at number 28 and Callum says that Zeke must be thrilled. Lyn doesn't get the insinuation though so Callum helpfully tells her to "get out more" and fills her in on the goss about Zeke and Summer.
Number 28
Lyn storms in and instantly gets stuck into Karl and Susan for condoning the 'relationship' until Susan gets a word in and tells her they're just rumours. Lyn is horrified that Susan didn't tell her but Summer has walked out and tells Lyn that she was the one who asked Susan to keep quiet. Lyn wants Sum to quickly pack her bags to go home but Summer hurtfully says that they don't have a home anymore. She's not upset about the rumours - she's upset that Lyn believed them.
