Recap
- Sonya and Jade snooping around to find what Lucas is hiding
- Lucas telling Sonya to back off
- Tash telling Summer that she's pregnant
- Andrew telling Summer that he will stand by Tash and the baby
Harold's Store/Number 32
Summer is sitting alone at a table in Harold's staring into space as people walk around her in fast forward and the sky outside gradually darkens. Cut to number 32 and she's lying down with the same blank expression on her face, unable to sleep. The clock shows 1:13...3:34...4:17...5:52...and Sum is still tossing and turning.
Ramsay Street
We see the "keep out" sign outside number 26 and then we see Summer looking at her house. She walks away and goes past Lucas who is cleaning his bike. He comments on the lovely day and the fact that her house should be fixed soon, but she's off with the fairies. She says nothing is wrong and drifts off again, sneaking a look at Andrews place as she goes past.
Harold's Store
Summer gives Lyn the mail and Lyn asks where she went off to that morning. Lynnie comments that Sum looked a little down in the dumps but Summer brushes it off. Chris walks in for a latte and a coconut slice while Lyn tries to coerce Summer into breakfast but gets snapped at for her efforts. Summer storms off and Chris assures Lyn that he'll look out for Summer.
Ramsay Street
Lucas is strolling down the number 24 driveway making a lunch date with Billy on the phone. He gets on his bike and sees Sonya outside number 30 and awkwardly waves, while she waves back, equally awkwardly.
Number 30
Sonya and Toad have a cute banter about their respective phobias. Toadie is disturbed about having to take Charlie's book to him because it's about snakes, and he tells Sonya that she wouldn't be so flippant about it if the book was about birds! As Toadie heads out, Lucas comes over to have a word with Sonya. He apologises and wants to make sure that they're still OK. Sonya makes him promise to talk to someone if he gets in any trouble but he assures her that there's no trouble - his life is pretty great at the moment.
Garage
A group of school students are having a prac session with Lucas. When Summer goes off to get some coolant, she sees Lucas' trophies and the kids want to know what it feels like to race. At first reluctant, he eventually opens up about the joys of racing: the speed of everything, the freedom. They ask if it's so great, why are his trophies in a cupboard?
LUCAS: Because I'm not up myself!
Erinsborough High
Chris tries to get Summer to fess up about what it is that's bothering her. She admits that something is wrong but doesn't want to talk about it. He puts his arm around her and tells her that she can trust him and it's better to talk about it than go crazy.
Charlie's
First off, two things. There's a guy in the background who looks like Ned Parker, and Rebecca is wearing a dress that would be best described as psychedelic. Anyway, Rebecca hands Lucas his drink and teases him about holding off on the soft drinks until after the calendar shoot. Lucas asks Bec if she's been asked to pose and she hasn't, but she doesn't know why! Kate, who has randomly turned up, tells Bec to be careful because she'll probably be asked now, and for a second there Rebecca looks really really keen. Before she can say anything though, Lucas tries to get Kate to convince Brennan to pose but she refuses. It doesn't matter - Lucas is still sure they'll win.
KATE: He has been in way too good of a mood lately.
REBECCA: Yeah, it's making him completely delusional!
Lucas and Billy are having their lunch date and Billy gives Lucas the race details. Lucas is revved for the race but Billy isn't so keen. He spits out that the race isn't a normal race - Lucas needs to throw it. Lucas refuses but Billy is dead serious - he HAS to throw it.
Garage
Lucas has hurt himself with his hand inside a car bonnet and he goes over to his locker to get something for it. He opens it up and stares at his trophies. Paul drives his Audi in to get the brakes/steering checked. He notices the trophies and tells Lucas to put them out on display, but Lucas is noncommittal. Paul comments on how there is nothing like the winning feeling but Lucas counters that everyone loses - even Paul. Paul says he doesn't lose without a fight, before telling Lucas again that the trophies shouldn't be hidden away. Lucas is one of the only people on the street who doesn't hate Paul, isn't he?
Erinsborough High
Chris gives a huge sigh and we assume he's been told the whole story off- screen to save us from having to go through it again. Chris consoles Summer and tells her that she'll get over Andrew eventually - some things were never meant to happen. Summer spills that it did happen, and she was with Andrew, and she would still be if it weren't for Tash being pregnant. Chris is surprised.
Charlie's
Lucas is drinking coffee and Bec strolls over in her groovy dress. Lucas asks Bec to let Paul know that his car is ready because he can't seem to get a hold of him. Rebecca thanks Lucas for fixing it and sits down when she can see his good mood from that morning has completely evaporated.
LUCAS: You ever do something you never thought you'd be capable of?
REBECCA: Yes. I think most people have at one time or another.
LUCAS: Regret it in the end though, right?
REBECCA: Depends on what it is.
Obviously thinking about her situation with Paul, Rebecca thinks that everyone does things for a reason, and sometimes if it is the wrong thing for the right reason, if the pros outweigh the cons, then you have to do what needs to be done. Ya know...Rebecca and Lucas would probably make a pretty cute couple.
Toadie and Sonya rock up and ask if anyone is up for darts, to which Rebecca accepts on Lucas' behalf. Lucas however, declines because he's got things to take care of. Toad and Sonya look confused and somewhat rejected.
Erinsborough High
Chris hasn't said anything since Summer's confession about being with Andrew. Summer jokes that it's not often Chris is lost for words but Chris is angry that she thinks it's funny and that what she did was OK. Summer is annoyed that he's not supporting her like a friend and he packs up his lunch to leave, but before he goes, he spells it out for her:
CHRIS: You cheated with Andrew behind Tash' back. Once upon a time you'd have hated the person who'd do something like that.
Sum looks thoughtful.
Harold's Store
Lyn wants to know whether Summer has told Chris what is wrong, but he says it's none of his business. Speak of the devil, Summer walks in and goes to another table. Lyn wants to know why she and Chris are fighting - it's not like Summer to get this upset about Chris. Unless of course, he's said something and Summer knows it's right - and by the look on Summer's face, Lyn has hit the nail on the head. Lyn comments that she doesn't usually leave things hanging - unless it's because she's being stubborn. This is the Lynnie I like - nosy but helpful in a really good way. Sum relents and goes to make up with Chris.
They apologise to each other and Summer says that she's not proud of what she did but she loves Andrew and it hurts. They make G rated allusions to experience from taking- it- to- the- next- level and Chris brings over the first step to recovery - ice cream! Lyn and Kate watch from afar and Kate says it's been a while since Summer has been this happy.
We're still in Harold's, and Rebecca and Paul walk in with Paul being all smooshy about missing Rebecca. She returns his smooshiness with admirable naturalness. Rebecca walks over to her new BFF Lynnie and they talk about the teens all looking angsty and upset. Lyn theorises that it's just the pressures of Year 12 and Bec agrees but when she looks over at Summer you can see that she thinks it might be something more.
Unofficial Racetrack Somewhere
Lucas drives up and is questioned by Billy and Garland whether he's there to race. And there to lose. He indirectly says "I know what you want me to do". The competitor gets a little sledging in before the guys drive their bikes to the starting line. And they're off!
The guys whiz past the finish line and Billy is in disbelief. Lucas has won and is utterly thrilled with himself. The fact that Garland has lost thousands is not his problem, but Billy tells him it will be.
Garage
Lucas smilingly opens his locker and takes his trophies out. He displays them around a little as we pan out and see Garland and his henchman. Mr. henchman is dragging a baseball bat along the ground which is soon lifted and smashed into Lucas' trophies. Garland makes it clear that the trophies aren't the only thing that will be making contact with the bat. You're in a garage, Lucas! Grab a crow- bar!
