- Declan having a temper tantrum and cutting his hand as a result.
- Andrew wishing his dad was dead after cutting him out his will.
- Declan asking Kate for an alibi for his mum.
- Det. Brennan quizzing Kate why Rebecca didn't mention seeing her.
- Det. Brennan asking Declan what his blood type is and how did he cut his hand?
Police station
Declan tells Det. Brennan that he cut his hand after falling at the wedding and confirms that he didn't go near the scene at all, so its put to him that his blood got there earlier. After a flashback (to Declan gripping Paul's jacket) he tells the detective just that although Det. Brennan doesn't exactly believe him so Declan suggests he does a DNA test but adds that it doesn't mean he pushed Paul. They then got onto the relationship Declan had with Paul and he again strongly denies that he didn't push Paul. Toadie calls an end to the questioning and Det. Brennan is happy to stop for now but tells Declan not to go far.
Harold's Store
Declan reiterates to Toadie that he didn't push Paul before Toadie leaves to take a call. Meanwhile, Declan heads to the counter to thank Kate for giving Rebecca an alibi but she makes it clear that is as far as the help goes.
Charlie's
Toad is trying to chat with Summer about the statement she has to make to the police but she's a bit pre- occupied with things, namely Andrew, who is there playing pool. He leaves her to it and she heads over to chat with Andrew - she tells him not to feel bad about what he said about his dad, it was said in the heat of the moment. Andrew however, isn't in the mood to chat about it and resumes playing pool.
Number 28
Libby tells her parents about Ben being picked to talk at a special school assembly on the topic of what it means to be Australian. Apparently there were only 3 other kids picked (due to what they'd written) and Karl thinks Ben is a chip off the old block given he writes his own songs! Ben has been very reluctant to talk about it (although the rest have more than made up for it!) and he reluctantly reveals why - he's no longer being allowed to give his speech because the teacher thinks he has cheated!
(Later)
Ben makes it clear he didn't cheat - it's the teacher picking on him because he doesn't always paying attention all the time although he adds if the teacher talked about something interesting, it would help! Lib reassures her son that she believes him.
Hospital
Andrew isn't enthralled at Sum turning up at the hospital. She tells him about the police wanting to talk to her then asks where he went after the wedding. "You think I did it?" he asks her and she reminds him that he was really angry. He still isn't impressed and tells her to go home.
He then gets a chance to enter his dad's room when the policeman guarding the room momentarily leaves his post. Stupidly he doesn't close the door and Sum overhears him talking to the still unconscious Paul - he's annoyed at Paul cutting him from the will.
ANDREW: And that's why I lost it. I'm sorry dad, I am so sorry.
And today's trip down memory lane is back to 1991 with Andrew's aunt Caroline showing off a pair of booties to her sister Christina and brother in law Paul.
Number 26
Sum looks through pics of the wedding wondering how it went from happy families to bitter enemies between Paul and Andrew.
Harold's Store
Libby meets Ben's teacher (and he's back calling himself Ben Kirk on his book) to get to the bottom of the speech. The teacher is still insistent that Ben cheated and accuses Libby of helping Ben since she is a teacher. Lib makes it clear Ben doesn't let her help him with his homework and when the teacher goes on about Ben not engaging, she brings up that Ben might not be interested. Naturally, the teacher defends herself and goes back to accusing Ben of cheating, this time with the aid of the internet, but when Libby looks through Ben's jotter she puts a different slant on the aspect Ben has taken in his writing. The teacher isn't moved though; she's now moaning that the topic Ben was writing about wasn't what was set!
Number 28
Libby tells her parents that she thinks Ben might be gifted, judging by the way he writes, adding that most of her year 11's can't write like he does. Susan doesn't immediately agreeing with her daughter and Karl is of the same opinion too but Lib still thinks that there is something there.
They swap places with Ben and he's a bit disappointed to hear that he can't do the speech but is mega happy that his mum stood up for him to his teacher over the cheating accusation.
Harold's Store
Kate is doing her best to apologise for her attitude yesterday but its Declan that is being straight laced this time.
Meanwhile, Tash spots a pic of Andrew on Sum's laptop and she asks Tash to describe him. "Hot" is her reply but does agree with Sum's "moody" and wants to know what she is getting at. She brings up Andrew's sudden temper, which Tash agrees he can do, and she tells her about Andrew being so angry with his dad at the wedding. "That's 'cos his dad is a pain who stuffs him around," she points out. Hesitantly, Sum asks if she believes Andrew could do something pretty bad. Tash jokes that she is just paranoid and "the next thing you know you'll be accusing him of pushing his dad off the balcony" and from the look on Sum's face, that is exactly what she is thinking! "No way" Tash tells her but she still has her suspicions.
NATASHA: This is crazy Summer, if there's one person Andrew actually cares about it's his dad. No- one else comes close.
Tash has a go at Sum for accusing Andrew of putting his dad in hospital. "What is wrong with you?" she asks.
(Later)
Andrew wants to know what the police chatted to Declan about but when he isn't forthcoming, Andrew grabs Declan by the lapels to demand he tells him! "They said nothing," Declan replies whilst pushing Andrew away from him.
Sum goes to try and apologies but when she slightly stands off him, he thinks it's because she thinks he may put in a repeat performance.
ANDREW: You really think I'm that kind of guy?
When Declan and Kate rush to her aid, with Kate suggesting he leaves, he tells them they are pathetic as he exits the store.
"He's out of control," Declan mutters as Kate makes sure Sum is okay.
Number 28
Ben shows his grandparents a book he's written stories in (that the teacher doesn't know about) because the teacher doesn't like them going off- topic. Both are impressed at the amount of work he's done and Susan is now coming round to Libby's idea that Ben may have hidden talents! The newly arrived home Libby is pleased to hear what her mum has said and drops a bombshell on them that she is getting Ben tested.
(Later)
After a little chat, Ben is up for doing the test Libby's organised if it means he gets to speak at special assemblies.
Police station
Sum finishes giving her statement and Toadie reassures her it went well although she worried that the detective wants to talk to her.
Det. Brennan jokes with Toadie over how long he is spending at the station when an officer shows him and Summer into another room. "I'm not here as a lawyer today," Toadie explains.
Det. Brennan begins by asking her how well she knows Paul (not very well) then Declan (she doesn't have much to do with him) but lets slip that she's heard things about Declan. "What sort of stuff?" he asks and she replies "just stuff" she's heard via Andrew. He then asks how Andrew and Declan get on and she replies that they don't and agrees with him saying they are rivals. "Over what" he then asks and she replies Paul as he is pretty tough on the pair of them. Sum lets slip about Andrew being angry with Paul and he asks if they were on the night of the accident and he pushes her to reveal what happened on the night as we head into the final commercial break.
Ramsay Street
Sum rushes to talk to Andrew but its too late, Det. Brennan arrives seconds later wanting a chat with Andrew down at the station. "I'm so sorry," she tells him as he is led into the back of the police car. Tash notices it happening too and comes over to find out what is going on and what she told them.
