- Zeke catching Mia messing around with his computer
Number 28 - Zeke's Bedroom
Zeke scans his laptop for new files and discovers that there are two partial files he can't access. He sends a text to Mia so they can meet at Harold's in half an hour. Karl walks in and proudly displays the Erinsborough News - his little rant to PirateNet yesterday scored him the front page. Susan compliments the photo of Mia and Zeke on the laptop and approves of how supportive Mia was at the hospital. Karl and Susan then head over to #30 to get legal advice from Toadie.
Harold's Store
Declan sees Zeke sitting alone and finds out that Mia has stood him up. Lyn approaches Steph and thanks her for helping out but thinks she should be "changing spark plugs, not clearing tables". Steph says that Lucas still needs his space at the garage, but Lyn reassures her that Lucas won't make things difficult. He still cares about her. Steph sighs - that's pretty much her problem.
Garage
Paul is hassling Lucas to give his car a tune up but Lucas says he's already got a million and one jobs on today.
PAUL: I'm not asking you to do a complete engine re- build. I just want you to stop that annoying whining noise.
LUCAS: Mmm, I know the feeling.
Paul brings out the big guns and threatens to tell Elle that the customer service has gone downhill so Lucas sighs and says he'll look at it tonight. Paul wonders where Steph is but Lucas says the longer she's away from work the better.
Number 30
Karl is gung- ho about taking a class action against the hospital, but Toadie warns him it would be a bad idea because it would affect the standard of patient care even more. Toadie reckons Karl should find someone on the board who'll support his cause. Steph stops by with Charlie to let Toadie know she's going back to work. Taking Steph aside, Toadie asks if it's a good idea for her to be in close proximity to Lucas but Steph says she can handle it. Plus she has two mortgages and needs the money. Toadie offers to help pay some bills but Steph smiles and says he's done more than enough already.
Garage
Lucas is surprised when Steph turns up but he maintains a gruff exterior and sets her to work on the Mazda outside. Steph tries to clear the air and apologise again but Lucas says they don't have time for chit chat. "Either work or go".
Charlie's Bar
Karl approaches Paul and Rebecca to try and butter them up for some free advertising space on PirateNet for his hospital cause, but they can't afford to take him on as a charity case. Susan arrives to take Karl to his hospital check- up and rescue Paul and Rebecca from his clutches (even though Paul's having a whale of a time teasing him).
Garage
Steph stares at Lucas while he fixes a car and fantasises about running over and pashing the life out of him. But before things can get too raunchy, Toadie drops by and shakes Steph out of dreamland. They share an awkward peck on the lips to appear couply to Lucas before heading outside for a chat. Steph tells Toadie the atmosphere is tense. Toadie reminds her she's the boss and she needs to look after herself - no heavy lifting and all that jazz. She heads back inside and Lucas accidentally whacks his arm into the tool cabinet. Steph starts to move it out of the way before remembering the whole baby thing.
STEPH: Actually, sorry, you'll have to move it.
LUCAS: You're kidding me. We're playing games now are we?
STEPH: No it's just... Well I actually can't move it, I've hurt my back.
LUCAS: I'll bet you have.
Steph gets annoyed and says she doesn't have to take his attitude, but when Lucas gets all up in her face about it, Steph gets flustered and Lucas knows he's onto something interesting.
Harold's Store
Steph and Toadie have called in to see Lyn for a soothing peppermint tea. Lyn assures her daughter things will get easier with Lucas and Toadie tells Steph not to let him upset her.
Zeke (wearing the ugliest clown trousers known to mankind) finally catches up with Mia and quizzes her about the files on his computer. Mia says she accidentally moved some around while she was putting the wallpaper on his laptop, and Zeke buys her flimsy excuse. For now anyway.
Erinsborough Hospital - Waiting Area
A few staff members smile at Karl as he walks in with Susan, and Jodie congratulates him on being an inspiration by speaking out on behalf of the hospital. Dr Harris tells Karl his test results are still half an hour away but in the meantime he's scheduled in for a gastroscopy.
Garage
Lucas offers to help Steph with Paul's car and then wonders if she's going to be straight with him about what's going on in her life. Steph says she's too busy for his games but Lucas knows he's struck a nerve.
Erinsborough Hospital - Waiting Area
Karl gets his test results back and is smug when it basically points to indigestion (or "a gastric lining irritation" as Dr Harris puts it). This starts up another 'my stethoscope is bigger than yours' style argument between them.
DR HARRIS: As you know it's my job to rule out every possibility, so you're going to have to...
KARL: Adjust my diet. Yes I know how it works, I am a doctor.
DR HARRIS: Were a doctor. As far as I'm aware you're a newspaper columnist and the occasional radio DJ.
KARL: (annoyed) Let me have a word to you about your beside manner.
DR HARRIS: I'd love to stay and chat but I have patients to attend to.
KARL: You are abrupt, you are arrogant, you are rude.
SUSAN: Yeah, come on let's go.
KARL: No, no, no. You treat patients like they are numbers.
DR HARRIS: Spare me the lecture about how different things were in your day. I've heard it all before.
KARL: I'm sorry to have to bore you, but when I was a doctor here we took pride in our work.
DR HARRIS: You're not a doctor here anymore, Karl.
KARL: Well we'll have to see about that. Where's Doctor Newton?
DR HARRIS: She's on leave.
KARL: OK, who do I see about getting my job back?
SUSAN: What?!
KARL: I'm sorry, Susan. I can't stand by and watch this hospital fall apart. Well?
DR HARRIS: You'd need to speak to the doctor in charge.
KARL: Who's that then?
DR HARRIS: That would be me.
Susan's slow eyebrow raise of 'oh dear' pretty much sums it up.
Erinsborough Hospital - Dr Harris's Office
Dr Harris takes Karl in for a chat and tells him that a lot has changed since he last worked at the hospital. The staff are younger, they work longer hours and they're more stressed. But a miracle happens and they start to agree on some things - mainly that Brian Rhode is responsible for the poor state of the hospital and something needs to be done about it. Dr Harris shows Karl some reforms he's suggested to get the place back on track and Karl says he'll support him 100%.
DR HARRIS: What you did yesterday made an impact. Brian's rattled. He even emailed me this morning suggesting we hire you back. Buy your silence.
KARL: (smirking) Best decision he ever made. So, when do I start?
DR HARRIS: (cracking a smile) Arrogance - you'll fit right in.
Harold's Store
Karl walks in with Susan and tells Lyn he wants one of everything off the menu (he had to fast for the gastroscopy), but Susan whittles it down to a muesli cookie and a coffee with low fat milk. Karl then tells Lyn (plus Zeke & Mia) that his heart's fine and he's starting work back at the hospital ASAP. Paul overhears and puts his two cents in.
PAUL: Aww, that's a shame. No more 'Ask Dr Karl' on the radio. That's devastating news.
KARL: Disguising your disappointment with sarcasm, Paul?
Paul takes Zeke aside and suggests that Mia fill the gap that Karl has left - they had some good on- air banter the other day. But Zeke's still a bit iffy about Mia's intentions and says it wouldn't be a good idea to work with someone he's involved with again (oh yeah, Lost Boy and Found Girl, forgot about that).
Lassiter's Complex
Zeke asks Mia to dinner but she makes up some excuse about her grandfather needing her. She then takes her zillionth sneaky call away from Zeke, so he uses that time to steal her USB from her backpack and test it out on Declan's laptop (who just happens to be sitting there). But Mia has deleted everything from the stick. Zeke quickly puts the USB back in her bag.
Garage
Steph and Lucas have ended up working on a car together and Lucas remarks that they make quite a team. Lucas, the klutz, grazes his hand on something so Steph gets the first aid kit to patch it up. But things get a little cosy while she's tending to him and they're having a nice old giggly, flirty time until Toadie shows up. Steph quickly backs away and Lucas looks smug. Toadie looks... Many things. Annoyed, worried, bewildered and maybe a teeny, tiny bit jealous for a second? I don't know.
Charlie's Bar
Lucas stops in for a drink after work and Declan and Rebecca notice he's in a chipper mood. Lucas says he thought working with Steph again would be the last thing he wanted but it's turned out to be a plus. Rebecca and Declan start to get worried when Lucas starts talking about getting reacquainted with Steph.
LUCAS: I don't know whatever it was that Toadie did to turn her against me but it didn't work. There's still something there, I know it.
DECLAN: Mate...
REBECCA: Look, break- ups can be really confusing. Maybe you're reading too much into this?
LUCAS: There's nothing confusing about this. She wants me and I want her. And I'm going to get her back.

[Tomorrow on Neighbours]
TOADIE: I saw you with him.
STEPH: I just want to be mates again, that's all.
TOADIE: Didn't look anything like that.
(Summer and Lyn spy on Steph and Lucas in the kitchen, who are being very flirty while they do some paperwork)
STEPH: Start sorting.
LUCAS: Sorting... Which goes where?
(Toadie confronts Lucas about his charm offensive)
TOADIE: Any lame excuse just to spend some time with her, right?
LUCAS: What's your problem Toadie?
TOADIE: Stop messing with her head.
LUCAS: Maybe I'm just giving her a choice.
TOADIE: She made a choice, mate, she chose me.
(Paul's giving Callum some more Paul- like advice about his bully)
PAUL: Ahh he's just wearing you down. He's just [Paul jumps at Callum] waiting to pounce!
(Dean wants Sophie to swipe another test paper)
SOPHIE: But you said you'd leave us alone.
DEAN: You know what'll happen if you don't.
