Number 30
Lucas is still waiting for an answer when Steph comes in and overhears their conversation. She heads to the kitchen and says that she can answer the question and kisses Toadie in a passionate sort of way for two people that have no passion for one another.
STEPH: I'm sorry Lucas.
LUCAS: You stay away from me and Sonya.
Steph knows that Lucas is right, seeing him with Sonya drives Toadie crazy and tells him that it's not too late for them to walk away from all of this. Bed Head Callum comes to see what is going on and is quickly sent packing again. He's not too happy that everything is a private conversation with Toadie and Steph.
Harold's
Harry's not so chipper as they've got to clean the whole school today, hence his dressed down appearance. Andrew doesn't think that trackie dacks are Summer's thing, hence why he is dressed up. He's also starting to worry about Harry's commitment to the cause (getting Andrew and Summer together, not any worthy cause).
The boys leave and Callum and Sophie come in with Toadie. Sophie is down about clean up day too because if they're not in class it'll be harder to avoid Dean and his cronies. She thinks they need to tell someone, but Callum reminds her that if they dob on Dean he'll just have more reason to go after them. Toadie senses something is up.
CALLUM: You never tell me anything. Why should I tell you?
LYN: OK...Just wait until he's a teenager!
Number 28
Libby is getting an uncooperative Ben's lunch together. She chivvies him along as Toadie and Steph swing by to see how she's doing. She admits that work is horrible because she sees Dan everywhere but she just needs to stick it out. She has to dash off to help Ben find his maths book but has time to lay some unintentional guilt on Steph and Toadie by telling them they're the best for checking up on her.
TOADIE: Still want to walk away?
Awkward.
Charlie's
Sonya has come to see Lucas, against her own better judgement, it seems. She can't believe that he was hanging around with her to make Toadie jealous.
SONYA: I bailed you out of jail. I've been your sponsor. I was there for you when no one else was and this is how you treat me?
LUCAS: Let me explain...
SONYA: Look, just don't talk to me. Don't talk to me ever again.
Erinsborough High
Andrew isn't impressed that Summer is sick when they could have spent all day together.
ANDREW: I have been listening to Scandinavian pop for nothing. Do you have any idea how catchy that stuff is?
Sophie and Callum count their blessings that they didn't get put in Dean's group...until Libby comes in and tells them they have three more joining them. Dean and the Cool Gang. Dean makes a smart comment and Libby threatens weekend detention. She starts to explain the rationale behind schools clean up day.
Harold's
Lucas is sitting morosely outside. Lyn comes to check up on him and ask what he wants.
LUCAS: I'd like to wake up and realise that the last couple of weeks have all been a bad dream.
LYN: Now if that were on the menu, I'd have what your having....only I'd go back a few years!
They have a laugh and Lyn goes off to get Lucas his sandwich leaving Libby to pick up the conversation. Lucas has a check for Libby. She asks how he is, the truthful version. Lucas explains the whole thing with Sonya. Libby wonders who else he's going to stuff around and then wonders why Sonya hanging out with him would make Toadie jealous.
LUCAS: I don't know. But it did.
Number 30
Libby pops over on her lunch break for a word about Sonya.
LIBBY: I know it ended pretty badly.
TOADIE: Yeah, it ended when I realised I was still in love with Steph.
LIBBY: Is that all that happened?
TOADIE: Have you been talking to Lucas? You can't believe a word he says. You know that!
LIBBY: So you're really over Sonya?
TOADIE: I love Steph.
LIBBY: But are you in love with her? I just don't want to see her hurt again.
TOADIE: I'm the last person who would hurt her.
LIBBY: I know, I'm sorry but...I have to ask. You're really in love with Steph?
TOADIE: Absolutely.
Harold's
Lucas has somehow managed to get Sonya to meet him again for an explaination. He apologises and admits that he might have used her a little bit to get back and Toadie. He doesn't understand what's going on either, but he knows that Steph still loves him and that Toadie still loves Sonya. Why else would he go nuts whenever they're together? He really wants them to remain friends and promises never to do anything like it again. Sonya agrees and tells him he can give her bike a free service.
LUCAS: Yeah, I'm not sure my pride will allow me to work on a treddley.
Steph comes in, sees the pair chatting and leaves again.
Erinsborough High
Andrew and Harry's day hasn't really picked up and neither it seems has Callum and Sophie's. They've had to give up their chocolate bars to Dean and co and they have to bring one each tomorrow. And sultanas. There's a bit of confrontation which Harry and Andrew spot. Harry suggests Dean apologise to Sophie but Sophie covers up that it was just an accident. Dean and co swagger away and Callum chastises Harry for getting involved.
HARRY: I'm not going to let that little thug hassle my sister.
CALLUM: And what do you think is going to happen when the rest of year 7 find out that her big brother is protecting her?
Er, they'll back off? No? That not how it works nowadays?
Harry tells them that they solve problems like these by talking to people. Sophie thinks it'll just look like they can't take care of themselves.
ANDREW: That's the truth.
SOPHIE: I mean what happens the first time you're not around?
ANDREW: You get severely beaten.
Sophie is confident that they can outsmart Dean.
The Park
Dean and co make fun of Callum for hanging around with a girl. Give it a couple of years and they'll be jealous. Callum wonders what colour boxers Dean will be wearing when the dack him next. Dean wonders what colour Cal is wearing now and pushes him over into a pool of mud. Libby comes over to see what's happening and guesses that Dean had something to do with it. Callum says that he tripped over. Libby tells him to get back to school to get cleaned up. Dean and co can pick up his and Sophie's share of rubbish.
Erinsborough High
Callum is cleaned up and changed into a spare uniform. Libby wonders if there's anything they want to share with her but Callum says they're fine. Libby takes him away to find a smaller top leaving Sophie alone in the classroom with Libby's Year 7 folder. Sophie looks in the file and finds the year 7 Australian History test.
A few minutes later Sophie and Callum are checking the coast is clear so they can make a quick exit from school. Unfortunately they bump into Dean et al and they aren't happy that they had to pick up extra rubbish. Libby comes along so Callum and Sophie scatter. Libby moves the boys along, but Dean manages to linger around for when Sophie comes out of hiding. She says he can have the History test if he promises to leave her and Callum alone. He takes the test and leaves.
Harold's
Sophie assures Callum that Dean etc won't hassle them any more because Libby told them off. Cal buys this story and when Dean and co come in they keep at a distance. Andrew and Harry are pleased to see they sorted their problems out themselves.
Number 30
Callum creeps in and Toadie is suss because he is skulking around. He isn't so convinced that Callum just slipped over, and wonders if everything is alright at school.
CALLUM: If you're so worried about my school work, you'd let me get on with my homework!
Steph comes in and wonders if Callum has been mud- wrestling but he just brushes her off and stalks away. Steph tries to explain that the whole thing has been hard on Cal because he really liked Sonya. She decides to give them some space.
Harold's
Steph offers to help Lyn out as she has customers and Libby joins her for a chat. She needs cream for dessert and awkwardly explains that Lucas and Sonya are joining the Kennedys for dinner. Steph doesn't respond, but simply continues to stack the shelves, just a little more angrily. Steph accidently knocks some bottles to the floor and pushes Libby away when she tries to help pick them up. Libby guesses this means she's not over Lucas. Steph decides she has to go and does.
Number 26
Steph is all angst ridden and considers not answering the door when she hears a knock. Before she can go into another room, however, Libby lets herself in. Steph doesn't want to talk, but Libby does. She doesn't understand why Steph isn't over the moon. She knows that Toadie is hung up on Sonya and Steph tenses up whenever Lucas is mentioned. Steph reminds her that break ups are hard.
LIBBY: If you and Toadie love each other you have to move on. You don't want to do you?
STEPH: That's not true.
LIBBY: Really? So, er, what was that before? You know you saw my relationship with Dan break down because he never moved on from Sam.
STEPH: This has got nothing to do with Dan!
LIBBY: I'm not saying that. I'm saying I don't want to watch you make the same mistake.
STEPH: Well, just because you guys couldn't make it work doesn't mean we can't.
LIBBY: (dumbstruck) You're not hearing me.
STEPH: Yes I am hearing you. You just have no idea what you're talking about.
LIBBY: I know you better than anyone. I know there is something wrong and I know you're not telling me. (Close to tears) Why? I'm your best friend. Why won't you let me help you?
STEPH: Just go. Please just go. JUST GO!
Libby leaves and Steph crumples onto the sofa in tears.
