Previously on Neighbours
Kate and Declan agreeing to be friends.
Mel ranting to Zeke that they've lost their loyal listeners.
Harold's Store
Karl spots Zeke looking at a PirateNet poster - he is down in the dumps over PirateNet as people are cancelling subscriptions.
Meanwhile, Sophie and Harry plan what to do for Kate's 18th but hide their plans when Kate comes into the store to get things for dinner. She twigs what they are up to and tells them she just wants to hang out with them.
Ramsay Street (next day)
Karl spots Zeke returning from a walk when he's outside collecting the paper. Zeke is still down in the dumps, so Karl suggests talking to the owner... Rebecca, and she too just so happens to be out collecting her paper, so he scoots over to her.
Zeke agrees that they need to run commercials now they are a commercial station but moans to her about the advertorials they're bombing badly with the listeners as it isn't what PirateNet is about. She agrees to look into it which surprises him slightly.
Number 22
Paul isn't amused at Zeke moaning and tells Rebecca that they'll pick up new listeners. "Don't let the talent push you around" he adds which she strongly objects to, reminding him that she is capable of cracking a few heads together! She curtails chatting about the radio station any longer because she's got more important things to do - organising Kate's 18th!
Donna is surprised at what's required for Kate's birthday, so Declan explains that it's what Kate and her mum came up with. Rebecca puts Donna in charge of having Kate suitably dressed and wants Paul at Charlie's for 11 to help move furniture (she's closing the bar). He isn't happy and wants Andrew to do the moving, so Donna is forced to tell him about the deal they come up with and it's his turn to stay away since Kate is her best friend.
Paul wonders when Donna leaves if he needs to chat with Andrew but Rebecca sees no need. She then gives Declan his orders - keeping Kate busy and unaware until they turn up at Charlie's at noon.
Number 24
Harry and Sophie wish Kate a happy birthday and hand over their pressies - oven mitts from Sophie and a calendar from Harry so she looks good in front of the DHS.
Declan arrives with his non- DHS pressie and hands it over - it's a musical jewellery box with a dancing ballerina which Indy looks rather taken with when Kate opens it. Kate likes the pressie and asks if Sophie and Harry are planning a surprise party for her. "No I don't think so" he lies to her before Kate confesses that it doesn't seem right having a big party without her mum, it was something the two of them had planned together. ...Oops a bit late to say that now!
Charlie's
And the preparations for the party are coming along nicely along with celebrity guest Kate Ceberano booked too! Harry and Sophie are stunned that Rebecca managed to get her.
Paul asks Rebecca if she's spoken to Zeke yet while he sets the place names for the table and she replies back that she hasn't, she's had a few things to do! He asks if she wants him to chat to Zeke but she replies no, she'll do so later but before his show.
(Later)
The guests are arriving and Declan runs in to tell Rebecca that Kate doesn't want a surprise and wants them to cancel. Rebecca thinks its too late and right enough, two seconds later Kate enters the bar. "Surprise" they shout but she isn't exactly excited.
Commercial break later and Kate now seems happy with the preparations. Declan drags her aside and says they don't need to go through with it if she doesn't but Kate confirms that she is happy about it and Rebecca introduces her to the special guest. Kate is thrilled to meet the other Kate and now she's cool with it all Donna drags her off to get dressed.
(Later)
Special star Kate struts her stuff on the stage at Charlie's and Declan dances with Kate for a bit before Rebecca tells everyone to take their seats. Kate then stuns young Kate by saying that the song is dedicated to her mum, who used to play piano for her in days gone by.
Rebecca proposes a toast to Kate:
REBECCA: Kate I know we haven't known you long but in the last 8 months we've see you blossom into a beautiful, intelligent, articulate
But we don't hear the rest of what Rebecca says; instead we hear thoughts of what is going through Kate's mind - what people have been saying about her mum and she's still in dreamland when Rebecca finishes her speech. Declan asks if she is okay and she replies that she needs some fresh air and hurriedly departs the bar.
Lassiters Complex
Declan runs after Kate.
Charlie's
Rebecca thanks the other Kate for coming and she remarks that Kate is a lot like her mum.
Lassiters Lake
Declan catches up with Kate who is rather teary and hugs him.
Charlie's
Kate departs and Zeke asks for a word with Rebecca but Paul interrupts instead. Zeke tells him that he doesn't know what he is talking about but Paul is quick to say that what is best is for the station to be solvent. Rebecca calls a truce between them to tell Zeke that they need to get back on track financially, which Zeke interprets as her being on Paul's side. "No, I'm on PirateNet's side" and gives her approval for the advertorials, reminding Zeke that it's in his contract. Zeke doesn't like this and promptly quits!
PAUL: Nicely handled darling.
REBECCA: Oh like you helped.
Kate and Declan return, apologising for running out. She tells them that while the party is cool, she'd rather return home with her family, and the 3 of them depart. Rebecca asks if she's okay and he replies yes, she just misses her mum.
Number 28
Karl is trying out how his glasses look with his non- pink clothes when Zeke returns home. "You know they are still ridiculous" he shouts out. He then tells Karl that he had no choice but to quit PirateNet and as we head into the next break, Karl suggests that he could beat Paul at his own game... Ooh mysterious.
PirateNet
Paul is struggling to find a replacement for Zeke from the current staff as nobody is volunteering in a hurry! He then tells Rebecca that he's going to be dealing with all the personnel issues... so she informs him that he is going on air and hurriedly takes him into the studio to cover Lost Boy's show!
PAUL: You've got a much better radio voice than me.
REBECCA: Oh yes I know that, but we are a DJ down and this is a personnel issue and I wouldn't want to interfere would I?! (Placing the headphones on him) You've got 5 seconds!
The show begins but thankfully for Paul, Zeke appears wanting his job back and agreeing to do the ads now. Paul is a bit suspicious but Rebecca is relieved to have Zeke back, asking that he doesn't let her down.
PAUL: (handing Zeke the advertorials) I want them word perfect
The song finishes and much to Rebecca and Paul's relief Zeke does as requested and reads out the advertorial (Buzz energy juices. Go! Go! Go!) but puts his own slant on it... telling listeners if you drink the stuff "you'll go off like a frog in a sock!" Paul tries to get into the studio but the door's been locked, so he is forced to listen as Zeke introduces his next song, appropriately called 'Buzz with us'!
The song finishes and Zeke is about to do the next advertorial but before he can, Paul puts a note up for him to read - 'open the door you little worm' and when Zeke takes a call, its Rebecca telling him to open the door but he quickly cuts her off.
He confesses to the audience that he's in trouble with the bosses and his next caller is some random dude glad to hear the "real" Lost Boy and telling him not to open the door although in the next breath Zeke announces that is slot has finished for the day... but he does warn the listeners he may not be back tomorrow!
Zeke opens the door and Paul is ready to fire him until Rebecca comes rushing after finishing a call to the happy owner of Buzz juice who not only likes 'Lost Bloke' but is going to be buying more ads too! "We want you to stay" she tells him and despite Paul having a face on, Zeke agrees but only if he can do things in his style.
Number 24
Kate answers the door to Declan and he gives her something she forgot... a birthday cake complete with candle so she can make a birthday wish. He lights the candle and asks if she knows what she is going to wish for before she quickly blows the candle out.
Commercial break later and Kate refuses to tell him what her birthday wish was because it won't come true otherwise. He thinks it's easy to guess - that she wants everything to go really well with the DHS tomorrow. She tells him that was it but I somehow don't think so. Declan reassures her that she's got nothing to worry about the DHS visit; they'll be blown away by her.
DECLAN: I know I am.
Kate is puzzled by that comment, so he tells her that she is amazing the type of friend that she is and the way she looks after her siblings.
DECLAN: You're the best person I know.
Kate looks at him fondly and replies that he's just saying that because it's her birthday. He denies it, then turns round to face her and kisses her on the lips tentatively before they start pashing. Aww!
Tomorrow on Neighbours

- Kate confirming that they kissed.
