Recap
Alcohol being found in Declan's locker.
School
Declan is pleading his innocent that the bottle doesn't belong to him. Dan is initially hesitant to believe him but Declan convinces him, so he now wants to know who it does belong to. Declan refuses to dob so Dan is forced to call Rebecca.
Charlie's
Declan again pleads his case to Rebecca that the bottle wasn't his and has to persuade her he doesn't have a secret drinking problem either! Again, he refuses to dob Harry in but on the way out, Lou has a word with him and asks if it involves Harry as he tried to buy a bottle last week, but again he stays silent.
Rebecca wants to know what Lou was talking to her son about and he replies that he thought he was covering for someone but adds that Declan will be fine, as he's got a good head on his shoulders.
Lassiters complex
Declan catches up with Harry to tell him in no uncertain words that he isn't impressed with what he did especially as he could be suspended. Harry explains why he did it - Declan made him look like an idiot in front of Amanda. This doesn't go down well with Declan but he also tells him that he's kept quiet, "I don't shaft my mates".
Harold's Store
Donna is in looking for Kate but instead gets accosted by Kyle who is very much looking forward to being her partner for the ball. She isn't and lays down some ground rules for him - they only dance together for the presentation dance and that she won't be talking to him, laughing at his jokes or really acknowledging his existence!
KYLE: I love it when you get all feisty. It makes you even hotter!
"Get out of my face Kyle" is her reply to that and he does but not before adding seductively "I'll see you tomorrow night, I can't wait".
Lou comes in to borrow some cinnamon mix but Lyn refuses to give him any as her mix is superior than the bar's however Lou has the last laugh when the electrics fuse in the store after Lyn switches on the blender.
LOU: You got to love the dodgy wiring in this place haven't you? It makes it all so homely.
LYN: That is the second time it's happened today.
LOU: Well I know one or two things that might help but why would I it? So I will go down the road to get my cinnamon mix...at least I can see what I'm choosing from.
Number 24
Harry remains silent while Kate talks to him about the trouble that Declan is in. He's trying to pluck up the courage to say something but Kate interprets his as him being peeved at not getting to the ball. The two of them then end up bonding until Kate realises she's late for work.
Harold's Store
Kate throws the store into darkness again when she too switches on the blender and Donna comments that the store's suddenly got mood lighting which she loves it! Lyn explains that the blender keeps tripping the circuit breaker and that nobody can come to see about it until tomorrow. She heads off to re-set the circuit breaker and Kate heads over to Donna with her coffee. When there, Donna wishes that Kate would change her mind about not going to the ball but Kate's mind is firmly set. Donna then laments she's been an idiot too over the whole Saffron affair but comes up with an idea - they can blame it all on Amanda when anything goes wrong from now on, "like if Declan gets expelled."
Harry comes into the store and overhears them wondering if Declan will be expelled or not, as neither can figure out why he'd do that given the exams begin next week. Kate then spots her brother and he quickly says that he came in for olive oil and the two of them head over to the shelves to get some now that power has been restored after agreeing that both will go and talk to Declan.
Number 22
Harry comes round to apologise to Declan for what he did. He refuses to go and tell Dan because he thinks Declan will get the sympathy vote whereas a suspension could result in him and his sisters being split up.
DECLAN: Maybe they're better off without you.
Charlie's
Rebecca and Dan are chatting about 'bottlegate' when Declan and Indy appear. Dan gives him a deadline of that evening to reveal whose bottle it was or he gets suspended and the ball cancelled.
Number 22
I'll describe what happens in this scene for folk to read because when you watch it, your attention is so drawn to Indy and her sucking Declan's finger, its easy to forget what happened!
Anyway, cute baby aside, Rebecca points out as Declan cuddles his daughter that he's getting older. He doesn't think so...he's just pretending to be a grown up! Rebecca admits while it's admirable that he's covering for a friend, she asks if that's on. He still isn't budging and again reiterates he isn't going to the ball, so she twists things around and asks him to see it through the eyes of a parent - if India was in trouble with drinking or anything else, wouldn't he want one of her friends to do the right thing?
Harold's Store
Lyn and Kate are now trying to work out which combo of electrical appliances is safe to have on at the same time so not to trip the circuit breaker.
Harry hides behind the shelving when Declan comes in to tell Donna that Dan wants to cancel the ball unless he says who the bottle belonged to. Kate urges Declan to spill but again he's not dobbing, telling them that he doesn't know who it belongs to. Neither of them are falling for it and lay heavy pressure on him but to Declan's relief the interrogation is temporary halted when Kyle comes in to ask Donna what kind of flower she'd like for the corsage he is going to get her. Orchids are her reply although she wonders why he is being nice! Kate then remembers him talking to Amanda earlier and thinks they're in cahoots about something. The temporary relief is eventually broken and they lay it on thick that it would be unfair for the ball to be cancelled.
Number 30
Declan calls round to see Dan and admits that the bottle was his, and so there is no reason to cancel the ball. "You're a hopeless liar Dec" he replies then turns to show who else has paid him a visit...Harry.
Commercial break later and Dan lets rip at the lads for what they've done and tells Harry that he's going to get suspended. He leaves to make a coffee (and calm down) and Harry is impressed that Declan was going to take the fall for him - nobody has ever done that for him before. "I owe you" Harry tells him but Declan replies he's still got to tell Kate!
Harold's Store
Now that Lyn and Kate have worked out the magic combo to avoid tripping the circuit breaker, Kate heads off to take Donna and Kyle's order. Donna is still trying to suss out why he's suddenly being all nice and Kate gets the truth from him when Donna leaves to go to the ATM - he's heard that Donna and Ringo are on the rocks and if he plays his cards right the deb could be very interesting. Kate wants to know who's said that but he refuses to although #1 suspect is Amanda especially when she half-enters the store before quickly departing.
Lassiters Complex
Kate follows after Amanda to tell her she knows what she is up to - spreading rumours about her friends to get back at her. Amanda, in front of her groupies, denies it and turns it around to have a dig at Kate chickening out of going to the ball because Jason Coleman is going to be there.
KATE: I hope you trip on your dress!
The watching Lou has a giggle to himself at what Kate said to Amanda as she departed. He tells her to not to let it get to her before telling her to head home, he'll explain things to Lyn.
Harold's Store
It looks like Lou is covering the rest of Kate's shift and whistles happily to himself as he cleans the tables, although Lyn asks him to stop because it's putting people off their food!
LOU: (muttering to himself) I know what's put people off their food.
Lyn then tells him that she's solved the wiring problems of earlier... then just as she's said it, the place is plunged into darkness again!
Number 24
Kate's still in a bit of a mood when Harry and Declan enter the house and says to them that now isn't a good time and to save it until tomorrow. Harry ignores that to confess that the bottle in Declan's locker was his and it looks like the school will suspend him after he told Dan.
DECLAN: He did the right thing.
KATE: You want to give him credit for confessing after he's just done the stupidest thing in the world? What is wrong with you?
Harry tries to explain himself (and Amanda's involvement) but Kate is too angry to listen.
KATE: Do you realise what this means? You have just risked everything we have for Amanda Fowler.
DECLAN: Now go easy, we all make mistakes.
HARRY: Yes except Kate.
KATE: Don't you dare throw this back on me. I'm not going to give you sympathy just because you feel bad. Do you know what you've done? Of all the stupid things you've ever done, you've never actually risked splitting us up. You might have actually done it this time.
(Later)
Kate comes out of her room and Harry wants her to sit with him to have supper but she ignores him, grabbing her jacket and keys and heads out the door instead.
Lassiters Complex
An irate Kate catches up with Amanda and orders her to stay away from Harry. Amanda throws her some insults, calling her a woos for being afraid to go to the ball in case she sees Jason. Kate then drops in that she's maybe changed her mind about not going to the ball. Amanda points out that she hasn't got a partner but Kate replies that she'll find one.
AMANDA: Who?
KATE: I don't know but I'll be there.
AMANDA: Look forward to it.
KATE: Yes me too. Bring it on!
