Recap
Lyn being revealed as the new owner of Harold's and barring Rebecca.
Lassiters Complex
The complex is abuzz with people and entertainment for the launch of Lyn taking over Harold's Store. Rebecca and Paul watch from the quiet Charlie's and Paul wonders whether they should point out the typo on the blackboard 'Free desert with every meal' that Lyn is advertising. "Oh no" is Rebecca's reply to that one and then she has a go at Paul for printing Lyn's full page advert in the paper but he's happy to take anybodies money!
Kate isn't happy at the extra work the advert has resulted in, even if she tries to throw a few freebie sandwiches Sophie's way. Sophie tells her to quit but Kate replies that she can't because they need the money. Lyn comes over and tells Kate to offer some of the freebies to Paul and Rebecca to "let them know what they are up against!"
Toadie and Charlie stop by to chat and Lyn remarks that she hasn't seen Steph today and asks Charlie where his mum is.
CHARLIE: Not coming.
Oops, Lyn wasn't expecting that one and Toadie explains that he is taking Charlie to day care at Steph's request. Lyn tries to play down her daughters non-appearance adding to him that "nothing is going to put a damper on today" before Toadie heads off with Charlie.
Over at Charlie's, Rebecca tries to tempt the punters over to her with a BOGOF and trades polite waves with Lyn.
Number 22
Elle returns home from shopping but not at her usual designer shops but at a department store since she has money problems! Unfortunately the clothes she's bought aren't up to her usual standards but Donna sets herself a challenge and with a bit of adjusting and accessorising, Elle is delighted with what Donna has done to them and remarks that she'll make a good stylist one day. Indeed she's so chuffed with it that she is going to keep it on as she conducts interviews for a business manager to take care of her affairs when she is in NY. Elle asks if Donna is okay with her going to NY and Donna can't be happier for her - it is New York afterall!
Lassiters Complex
Lyn sneaks over and makes an adjustment to Rebecca's BOGOF offer - now instead of getting 1 free with every purchase, you get 7 free!
Charlie's
Rebecca is surprised to hear Toadie not order his usual breakfast with his coffee because he's having a big lunch at the store. He explains it's because he doesn't want to take sides.
REBECCA: (to Paul) Christ, even my regulars are deserting me.
Kate comes in not to spy as Rebecca thought but to ask for a job because she feels that she owes them for supporting her. Rebecca is just about to reject her when Lyn arrives to order Kate back to the store because they are flat out and to put a dampener on her plans to jump ship - she signed a 1 year contract with Elle that ties her to Harold's and "I take contracts very seriously" she adds whilst looking at Paul.
Some random guys come in and one of them asks for a beer...and can he get the other 7 now! When he explains himself, Rebecca knows exactly who to blame!
Lassiters Complex
Rebecca decides to do her own graffitting - by writing 'Can't SPELL let alone COOK' on Lyn's board and has a rather satisfied look on her face as she walks away.
Charlie's
Steph decides to visit the store and Lyn asks if they can put things behind them since she did return the money to the Robinsons. That doesn't exactly qualify it in Steph's book and tells Paul that the pair of them "are as bad as each other" on the way out.
Paul decides to personally presents Lyn with the bill for her full page advert... and that it's due 7 days. This isn't what Lyn was expecting, and wonders why it isn't the normal 28 days. He takes great delight in pointing out that she should have read the small print since she takes contracts so seriously!
Number 22
To give Ringo some peace to study, Donna begins to flick through a magazine, and spots an article about her favourite designer (Saffron Jankievicz) appearing in the city that afternoon with a fashion show afterwards. Ringo reads the ad and can see that its VIP's only but when has that stopped Donna! Donna thinks that if she meets and impresses Saffron, she may get some work experience out of it and wonders if Elle can score her a media pass from someone at the paper. She debates how she can get out and after Ringo said he was joking when he suggested she sneak out.
We then cut back to see that "pulling out the big guns" has meant cleaning the whole house, well the kitchen, bathroom and the couch. Elle has seen right through her and isn't budging even when Donna suggests increasing the grounding and to treat today as "day release!"
Number 28/Number 22
Split screen time again briefly when Donna tells Ringo how it didn't go with Elle and that she is going to go with his original suggestion of sneaking out! She then asks Ringo to cover for her and gives him instructions on how to do it too! Ringo asks what if Elle comes home but Donna doesn't think she will because she feels bad.
DONNA: Wow if I wasn't so into fashion I could totally be a spy or something!
Ringo is still reluctant do to as requested but Donna convinces him and she leaves.
Garage
Elle comes by to tell Steph about the business manager being hired which surprised Steph because they could be done with another mechanic or an apprentice. "We can't afford one" is Elle's answer to that then she goes on to explain that the garage will only be paying 20% of the wages as the business manager is going to cover all her assets not just the garage. Steph asks why Elle doesn't what her, but she explains that she just wants to talk to one person who can give her an overall view when she is away. Elle then tells Steph about going to New York indefinitely from next week when Steph wondered where she was off to. She then departs and Steph asks Lucas if he know about Elle leaving next week and he remarks that it's "her life".
STEPH: And you're okay with that?
LUCAS: Elle and I were over a long time ago. Good luck to her.
Harold's Store
Lyn's next move in the war is to hide Rebecca's board! Steph is further unimpressed at her mum, even refusing to share Toadie's chips. Lucas asks why she is even at the store and Steph replies that she is there for company instead of hanging out at the garage herself!
Sophie ticks Lyn off for listening into customers conversations when she returns to the counter although Lyn denies that is what she was doing.
Rebecca comes in looking for her board and Lyn replies that she "wouldn't know how to spell that let alone find it". Lyn then takes the chance to give Rebecca the invoice for her weekly milk... her increased invoice with Lyn getting in first before Rebecca can say anything to reminder that she's lucky to be getting supplied from the store!
REBECCA: You really are a piece of work aren't you Lyn?
LYN: Yes well your fiancé taught me well.
Rebecca leaves and Steph immediately goes to her mum and has a go at her and isn't in the least bit sympathetic either.
STEPH: Don't you see what you are doing? Everyone's avoiding both of you because they don't want to upset anyone.
LYN: Nobody's avoiding me.
STEPH: Oh really? Where's Karl and Susan? She's your best friend.
LYN: (searching for an answer) She's um... she's tired.
STEPH: Right yeah and hey look at us.
LYN: Stephie. I have to compete with Rebecca if I'm going to make a success of this business. I am already up to my eyeballs in debt and its day one.
Lyn then says that she doesn't want to fight with Steph or anyone, so Steph tells her to prove it and end the feud now.
Commercial break later and Lyn and Rebecca seal a peace deal - the milk prices will go back to what they were originally, that they'll have a mutually beneficial business relationship between them...and that both are welcome in the opposite premises too! At Steph's subtle cough, Lyn then returns Rebecca's board to her.
After that, Rebecca makes her way over to where Paul is sitting and he reminds her that he knew Lyn would back down.
REBECCA: That's a pity; I had all sorts of revenge plans ready.
PAUL: Well you just keep those up your sleeve as you never know when you're gonna need them.
Kate heads over to pick up their cups and Rebecca hope that Lyn isn't taking it out on her, she isn't, "that's because she's too busy gossiping" pipes up Sophie as she suddenly appears. Kate ticks her off then adds that she might not be her too long because Lyn is going broke.
PAUL: (forming a plan) Is that right?!
Number 22
Ringo remembers Donna's instructions to make it look like she's still at home when Elle returns. She wants to go and talk to Donna thinking that she is still upset. Ringo tries to stall her but when Elle persists, he eventually comes up with a decent excuse - Donna is wrapping up a pressie as a way of saying sorry for the fight they had and doesn't want her to see it. The plan has worked and Elle is very touched at what Donna is doing and promises to see her when she returns after having to leave for a business meeting following a phonecall.
Fashion venue, Melbourne
Donna has arrived at the sfiddley venue and when she tries to get in the bouncer asks for her pass out (she said she'd just nipped outside and so wanted back in) but he refuses to let her through without one and doesn't believe it when Donna says she is a personal friend of Saffron's.
Harold's Store
Toadie runs through with Lucas plans for his meal with Sonya. He reminds Toadie that Sonya doesn't drink but is fine with him drinking and his parting comment is "just be patient" before he departs. Toadie then notices that Lyn has been ear wigging by remarking that the table is clean enough, and she adds her tuppenceworth in - that Lucas is right because patience is a virtue!
She leaves Toadie to talk to Paul when he enters the store about her bill. Lyn asks for 28 days before paying the bill after reminding him that she did do the right thing by Rebecca. Paul has an alternative proposal for her - he'll wipe the slate clean...if writes 500 words every week for the papers new gossip column!
LYN: I can't do this, I'm not a gossip!
PAUL: No?
LYN: No!
To help sway her, Paul remarks that having a bad credit rating in the first week of business won't give suppliers much confidence in her. He also assures her that her identity would remain secret; it would just be between them.
LYN: I haven't got a choice have I?
PAUL: Lynnie, Lynnie, Lynnie, everyone's got a choice.
Fashion venue
Donna tries again to get in by following in behind some other ladies but the bouncer is wise to her. He even rejects her bribe of $40 too.
Number 22/Fashion venue
Ringo returns the dirty crockery to the sink and Rebecca offers him (and Donna) a cuppa but thankfully for him, 'Zeke' aka Donna calls and he can get away. Quietly, he tells her that he can't cover anymore and wants her home.
Donna then gets a brainwave when she sees and AFL player being let through even though he forgot his pass, so tells Ringo to get to the venue dressed in his hottest gear.
DONNA: If you love me you'll be here!
