- Sunny comparing herself to Zeke's ex-girlfriends
- Kyle calling Pirate Net and mentioning Miss Steiger
- Sunny leaving the radio station in a huff
Harold's Store
Zeke has apparently abandoned the whole Lost and Found show to chase after Sunny and her many insecurities.
SUNNY: What happened with this Miss Steiger?
ZEKE: I stole her underwear... It was funny at the time.
But Sunny doesn't find it amusing and whines to Zeke about not caring that her braces are finally off. Zeke says she looks just as beautiful as she did before and tries to reassure her that she's great, smart and so on. Sunny doesn't look convinced.
Ramsay Street
Toadie's showing off his new beast of a car to Steph, Dan, Ben and Libby when Sonya rides up on her bike for a Rocky appointment. She doesn't look too impressed with the gas guzzler, and is still awkward around Toadie after her GA announcement. Sonya heads into #30 and the K-F's go to the park, leaving Steph to encourage Toadie to clear the air with Sonya.
Number 30
Sonya hands Toadie some dog treats she made for Rocky, but Toadie can eat them as well because they're made from natural ingredients.
TOADIE: I must reward myself next time I don't wee on the carpet.
Before Sonya takes Rocky for a walk, Toadie says that he's not going to hassle her to open up about her past (even though he's curious). All he can go on is who she is now, "And I think you're great". Sonya says that he's sweet but she's not sure if they're compatible - to start with, his car isn't environmental enough. Toadie looks disappointed.
Charlie's Bar
Zeke and Sunny meet up with Karl and Susan for dinner. Karl teases them about their on-air tiff, so Susan says he can pay. Some mop-haired young boy stares at them in the background before rushing out.
Toadie tells Lucas about his Sonya/car debacle while Steph listens in from the bar. Lucas is firmly pro-car but Steph is pro-Sonya. Toadie's stumped - dream car or dream girl? He wonders if he'd be able to switch the engine over for an electric one but Lucas is mortified.
LUCAS: Don't you dare emasculate that magnificent beast! I'd rather you sold it.
TOADIE: I can't do that.
LUCAS: There's your answer.
STEPH: What? So you're choosing the car over the girl?
LUCAS: Excellent choice.
STEPH: You ignore him, Toadie! Go the girl. If she's the right one for you she'd be better than any car.
If she was the right one for you, you wouldn't be having all these dramas to begin with, Toad. I'm just sayin'.
Number 30 - Next Morning
Libby and Dan happily chat about buying #32 (after they take another look at their finances of course). They have a smooch before Libby goes over to #28 to steal some eggs for brekkie. Toadie comments to Dan that he and Lib look happy, and wonders if it's down to compromise. Dan knows Toadie has Sonya on his mind and suggests that he just take the plunge - it could be worth it. Toadie goes to wake up the kids just as Dan's mobile rings. He's stunned when he sees who's calling and takes a moment to decide whether or not to answer.
DAN: Sam... Sam what's wrong? OK just calm down and tell me what's happened.
Number 28
Susan and Libby tease Karl about having his first on-air 'Dr Karl' fan. Karl's chuffed that the boy, Robin Hester, wants to interview him for a school project.
KARL: You can't blame him really. I suppose if you're looking for a local Erinsborough celebrity... "I'm listening".
Karl sits down to email Robin and schedule an interview time.
ZEKE: What did he want to talk to you about?
KARL: Just my day-to-day life I imagine.
SUSAN: That'll be gripping.
KARL: When I took on this column I took on a responsibility to the community and I take that responsibility very seriously.
ZEKE: Yes you do.
Sunny decides to rush off to school without Zeke because she's still in a mood about the braces incident/Zeke's ex-girlfriends/everything in the world. Like the patient boyfriend he is, Zeke chases after her to make sure she's OK.
KARL: (off in his own world) Hey do you think two hours is long enough for an interview?
Ramsay Street
Zeke doesn't get why Sunny's still upset; he thought they sorted everything out? Sunny knows he said all those nice things about her but she just doesn't feel it. Where's Andre Rieu when you need him? Someone needs to play that girl a violin.
Number 30
Dan hesitantly breaks the news to Libby that Sam just rang: she desperately needs his help. Dan explains that Sam's in hospital after having an episode and there's no one in NZ to look after her baby (don't her parents live over there?).
DAN: She's asked me to go over there to help.
LIBBY: And you said yes.
DAN: I'm sorry, I couldn't live with myself if anything happened to the baby.
LIBBY: It's not your baby remember.
DAN: That doesn't matter, Lib, there's no one else there.
Libby's aghast when Dan says he'll have to go this afternoon and miss out on their bank appointment. But Dan figures they'll reschedule for when he's back.
LIBBY: And when would that be?
DAN: I don't know. Look I know that you don't trust Sam and that is absolutely fair enough, but you can trust me.
Dan kisses her on the forehead and Libby tries to muster up a smile, but on the inside she's peeved beyond belief. This is illustrated when the scene jumps forward and she's venting to Steph and Susan about everything. Steph's on Lib's side, as is Susan, but she also concedes that Sam's bipolar is very serious and they need to take that into account.
SUSAN: I've never met anyone with a stronger sense of duty than Dan.
STEPH: What about his sense of duty to Lib?
SUSAN: She's healthy, she's got all of us. Sam's all alone in the world. And isn't Dan's compassion one of the reasons you fell in love with him in the first place?
Libby's conflicted.
Pirate Net/Number 30/Charlie's Bar/Number 28
Sunny sulkily starts to introduce the environmental topic they were supposed to cover yesterday, but Zeke interrupts and says he wants to continue the relationship talk. The topic today is: How do you let someone know that they're special?
Libby listens in from home with a packet of Tim Tams for company.
Meanwhile Toadie has tuned in from Charlie's. He picks up his phone.
And Karl and Susan are listening intently in the kitchen (Susan gives Karl a cuppa and a kiss on the forehead - aww). It's nice to know that everyone has nothing better to do than listen to teen angst on a pirate radio station.
Zeke chats to his first caller - Toadie. He likes letting people know they're special but wonders how far you have to go.
Libby eats her way through her emotions.
Toadie tells Zeke that he's been thinking about compromise and doesn't know how much he should change about himself. Zeke says that's the million dollar question. He puts another caller through.
ZEKE: You're on the air.
LUCAS: Yeah, Toadie, DON'T SELL THE CAR!
ZEKE: OK... Well that seems like some pretty concrete advice from that listener.
He takes another call. Susan and Karl (and Dahl) have moved to the couch with the laptop to listen.
ZEKE: You're on the Lost and Found.
CALLER: I just wanted to say that if you really loved someone it doesn't matter what you want it's what they want. That's all that counts.
Karl nods along like, 'Well said', but Susan just scoffs at him.
ZEKE: Don't you think it should be 50/50? If one person has to make all the sacrifices it doesn't seem fair.
CALLER: I'm just saying that if I was with someone like Found Girl I'd make every sacrifice I could because she's worth it.
Is she also sponsored by L'Orčal? Sunny's chuffed and thanks the caller. She thinks that if you're two different people wanting different things then you've just got to keep talking your problems out.
Toadie and Libby each take this advice in.
Zeke puts on a song and gives Sunny a kiss. With a smile he says it does feel different without her braces. Sunny's finally happy. Well, for today anyway.
Grabbing the phone, Libby calls Dan and says they need to chat and work this Sam business out.
Number 28
Libby tells her parents that her and Ben are going to New Zealand with Dan. This way they can put on a united front. Karl's not happy that Dan's going over to begin with, but is interrupted by a phone call. Susan offers to take them all to the airport and says that Lib's made a good decision, but Libby feels like she had no other choice. But at least this way Libby can see if Sam's just putting on an act.
Libby leaves to pack and Karl tells Susan that Robin just rang - the strange thing was that Robin claimed to have gotten their number from a mate who works in a call centre.
SUSAN: Well that's a bit dodgy.
KARL: Indeed. And only because I hadn't answered his last email, which was only twenty minutes ago.
Getting back to Libby's dilemma, Karl reiterates that he's not happy with Dan but Susan says now that Libby's accompanying him everything will be OK. Sunny and Zeke are also in the background of this scene but they have nothing to do with it, they're pretty much random extras.
Ramsay Street
Ben's stoked that he gets to miss out on a few days of school and happily jumps into the car with Susan while Karl packs the suitcases in the boot. Lucas chats with Dan - he doesn't get why his brother is going over there. Dan reckons if Elle called up in trouble then Lucas wouldn't hesitate, but Lucas rightly points out that's a whole other kettle of fish. Out of earshot, Libby and Steph are saying goodbye. Steph's still peeved with Dan but Libby feels better that she's going with him. Dan and Libby pile into the car and everyone waves goodbye to Steph and Lucas. Once the car's gone, Steph and Lucas notice Toadie putting a 'For Sale' sign in the back window of the beast.
Charlie's Bar
Toadie has asked Sonya to meet him for a chat (and some organic juice he ordered especially for her). He tells her he's put his car up for sale (and not his "cat" like I just typed, because that would be weird) because he wants to become closer to the girl he's crazy about. Sonya's stunned.
SONYA: But you don't even know me.
TOADIE: I think you're worth it.
SONYA: I won't let you!
TOADIE: But I want to.
SONYA: Well, don't! It's not right.
TOADIE: Sonya what's going on here? I get the feeling that you actually really like me but you just keep knocking me back. What's going on? Come on, you can tell me. I can handle it.
SONYA: Just forget about me. I'm not worth it.
She walks out leaving Toadie a little bit upset.
Ramsay Street
Lucas finds Toadie moping in his car and lets him know his dinner's in the fridge. Toadie thinks that Lucas knew this was going to be the end result - that's why he was pushing him to keep the car so much.
TOADIE: She must have one messed-up past. I know you can't tell me... You don't need to.
LUCAS: What I can tell you is that I think Sonya likes you. And if you like her as much as you say you do then you're going to need to be really patient.
TOADIE: I guess.
Toadie thanks Lucas for being a mate. Lucas asks Toad if he wants his dinner, but Toadie reckons he should grab Callum and they can all go for a spin in the car.
Number 28
Karl is purring like a cat while Susan massages his head and is annoyed when there's a knock at the door. It's the same mop-haired young boy from Charlie's.
KARL: Can I help you?
BOY: Dr Karl?
KARL: Yes?
BOY: I know I shouldn't be here but I really needed to see you.
KARL: Me?
BOY: Yeah. I'm Robin.
Holy creepy kid, Batman!
