Recap
Callum announcing that Lou was cursed by Wilma.
Karl and Susan tending to the Ramsay kids, as Sophie had fallen off her bike.
The kids not wanting to move to Ramsay Street in case Human Services split them up.
The kids at the Kennedys' place, watching neighbours delving into cake and all having a good time.
Zeke finding out that Donna kissed Sunny.
Steph realising that Libby is still upset she can't have a child - and offering to carry her and Dan's child for them.
Number 30
Dan and Libby return home, and Libby's already planning which legal issues to sort out, and who to contact. She's dead excited, and knows this is an option for them - she'll start the research straight away. Dan is clearly not into it. He tells his wife he doesn't think that surrogacy is right for them, and Libby wants to know why. Dan tells her he doesn't want to watch her go through the disappointment again. He thinks perhaps they should look for another way.
Number 32
Libby comes round to see Steph, and brings a bottle of wine. She's still amazed by Steph's offer, but tells her friend that Dan is worried about what will happen if something goes wrong. She also thinks that there's more to it than that.
Steph is sure that Dan will come round, but Libby just wants her husband to get it. Because, you know, Libby's always right and Dan's always wrong, and Dan always has to agree with her.
The friends hug on the sofa.
Number 28
Zeke is lying on the sofa with a duvet, reading. Ringo comes home, and Zeke tells him they've been kicked out of their room because the Ramsay kids are staying in there overnight. Annoyed, Ringo wonders why, and Zeke says it was Karl and Susan's call.
Ringo knows what happened at school, when Donna told everyone she kissed Sunny. He's remarkably relaxed about it.
RINGO: It's a chick thing. They're always hugging and kissing each other.
ZEKE: Yeah, but Sunny's...never...
RINGO: Never kissed anyone before?
ZEKE: How did you know?!
RINGO: Donna's a girl, it doesn't even count.
ZEKE: Sunny doesn't see it that way.
RINGO: Sunny's weird.
Ringo wonders how come Zeke has the couch to sleep on, and realises he has to sleep on the floor - or pump up the air mattress. He's not impressed.
In Ringo and Zeke's room, Sophie asks Harry if he's awake because she can't get to sleep. Kate is fast asleep. She obviously wants to chat, but Harry's not sounding very chatty. Kate opens her eyes, and doesn't say a word.
Cut to the next morning where Zeke and Ringo are asleep in the lounge, mouths open unattractively. Kate, Harry and Sophie are trying to sneak out before anyone hears them. Unfortunately for them, Ringo wakes up and wonders where they're off to, especially given that Soph has a swollen ankle. Kate defends their actions, but Ringo suggests if they wait, someone will give them a lift, save Sophie from walking. Kate refuses.
ZEKE: Well, if they want to sneak out without saying 'thank you' just let them.
KATE: No, we're not sneaking out.
ZEKE: Well it sure looks like that.
SOPHIE: Katie's just worried; if we let people help us it'll look like we're not coping.
KATE: Sophie, shut up!
SOPHIE: Well you do!
Zeke tells them he can relate to that - when his parents died, he and his siblings thought they'd get broken up, but Susan kept them together. He tells them that the Ks are pretty cool.
Cut to some time later and Sophie is thrashing Ringo at a Wii game with Zeke. Kate and Harry are eating breakfast at the table. Karl and Susan come into the lounge, but there's no cereal left for Karl. Kate apologises on Harry's behalf. Susan insists that an annoyed Karl doesn't mind, and he'll have toast; unfortunately Ringo finished that off, too.
Kate quickly says they should get going, and Karl offers them a lift. But before they can go, Susan butts in.
SUSAN: Kate, I was wondering if you'd given any more consideration to Number twenty four?
KATE: I thought the deadline was yesterday?
SUSAN: Yeah, well, I might've taken the liberty of calling the salvos and telling them that you would take the house...I hope that's okay...
KATE: The three of us?
SUSAN: Of course.
KATE: I have to be sure...
SUSAN: No, no...no-one is going to split you up.
KATE: No, they're not.
Convinced by the conversation with Zeke that morning, Kate agrees. Thrilled, Susan goes to throw her arms around the girl, but quickly retreats and pats her arm instead!
Harold's Store
Libby and Dan are talking about the surrogacy option with Steph. Dan's worried about their friendship - Libby and Steph have fought a lot recently, and he doesn't want that to get in the way. Dan's still really not into it, so Libby strops off because she's not getting her own way.
Erinsborough High School
Dan is complaining on the phone to a cleaner who hasn't emptied the bins. Steph has arrived to speak to Dan, and instructs him to consider the offer. Dan points out that Steph doesn't drive the agenda in their lives, so Steph retorts that this is Libby's agenda.
Steph is furious with Dan, that the surrogacy doesn't fit into his neat little world, and he should put Libby first. Steph fights for Libby, so Dan finally tells her the truth: is Steph really sure that after 9 months, can she really give up the child? Even though it's just next door? It's that easy, is it?
Dingoes' Den
Didge is cleaning at the gym, and she tells Fitzy that she's counting down the hours to the birth, she's being driven crazy by her body and her hormones. She explains that the normal rules don't apply during pregnancy - she can't control it, so she has to get used to the freefall and go along for the ride. It has to be worth it in the end! Fitzy listens with interest.
The Ramsay Kids' House
Ringo, Zeke, Sunny, Miranda and Toadie have arrived to help the kids move, and Lou also drives up with Callum and a truck. Toadie promises to fix Sophie's bike for her, too. Callum is wearing a helmet.
TOADIE: An, er, Squid - what's with the helmet, mate?
CALLUM: You think I'm going to jump in the truck with him without head protection?
LOU: It's the hex.
Lou wonders if Toadie has a spare rabbit's foot, whilst Cal has his eye on Sophie. Ringo comes out from the house and wonders if Lou realises that his truck tyre has gone down...?!
Number 28
Karl is on the phone having organised a trailer to help move the Ramsay kids. Libby comes over and tells her parents that she and Dan had an argument: Steph has offered to be a surrogate, which amazes Susan and worries Karl. Libby is cross that Dan won't think about it, and Karl agrees. He asks if they've had any medical advice yet, before saying he has to go and do something. He wanders into the next scene where...
Number 32
...he wonders what on earth Steph is doing. She defends her position, but Karl think she's giving them false hope, and points out that Steph knows damn well she shouldn't be doing this. She tells him to butt out.
Number 30
Libby is folding washing when Dan gets home. He says he spoke to Steph, but Libby already knows because Steph has already called her...you know, given that she seems to need to be involved in every aspect of their relationship and all.
Libby demands to know why he's so against it all. Dan finally admits it: he's a control freak, not into freefall, and he needs to know he can look after the most important things in his life like Libby and their child. He realises he will have to give up control, so he's prepared to take a chance on Steph. Libby is thrilled. They hug.
Number 24
Toadie, Ringo and Zeke are unsuccessfully - and seemingly without any bicycle knowledge - trying to fix Sophie's bike. Sophie and Kate watch, amused. Sunny comes over, as Miranda would like some help, and so Ringo and Toadie leave her with Zeke to talk. But Sunny doesn't want to talk to him at all. She refuses point blank to have any conversation.
Outside the house, Lou is purchasing a rabbit's foot (I SO hope that's not real) whilst Miranda carries a lamp into the house. She also wonders why he's wearing garlic around his neck. Cal and Mickey are laughing loudly behind Lou whilst he tells Miranda how worried he is about the curse, and it turns out that a bird has pooped on the back of his shirt. Isn't that meant to be good luck?
And what is this poo obsession with the show at the moment?
Back at the side of the house, Sunny strops off when she can't fix the bike, and so Ringo joins Zeke, who tells him that Sunny hates him. Ringo disagrees - Sunny wrote those letters for Donna with Zeke in mind...it's not like she feels that way about Donna.
Erinsborough High School
Sunny is at her locker when Zeke comes in reading one of Donna's letters out loud, knowing she's writing about him. He compliments her on her writing, and says he really hope she feels like that because that's just how he feels about her. He admits he understands about the letters, and hopes she was thinking of him whilst she was writing them...
She was.
Number 28
Steph, Libby and Dan come in to make an announcement to Karl and Susan.
LIBBY: Steph's offer? We've decided to accept it. And we know we've got a long way to go and we're not going to get our hopes up...
DAN: ...but it's a chance and we're going to take it.
SUSAN: Oh good on you! That's wonderful, it is...and Steph, this is an amazing thing you're doing...
LIBBY: Oh, it's incredible isn't it?
KARL: NO!
Everyone stares at Karl's rudeness.
KARL: Are you going to tell them or am I?
STEPH: It's not an issue...
KARL: It is a HUGE issue
LIBBY: Tell us what?
STEPH: I told you it's my choice.
KARL: No, no. It's theirs. The decisions they make now will affect them for the rest of their lives. They need to know what those decisions could mean.
Silence.
STEPH: There's a possibility...
KARL: A DEFINITE possibility...
STEPH: A POSSIBILITY...that a pregnancy could increase the risk of my chances of the breast cancer returning. But it's okay. It's...
LIBBY: How is it okay?
STEPH: Because I know the risks, I...I can handle it...guys, I am completely committed to doing this.
Gutted, Libby looks away to her parents.
Number 32
Steph walks in, Libby following. Steph explains that she wanted this to be about Libby having a baby, and she wanted Libby to agree to surrogacy. She thinks that everything else can be worked around. Emotional and upset they confront each other:
LIBBY: We're talking about cancer here!
STEPH: But no-one knows if it's gonna come back, Libby! Not Karl! Not anyone!
LIBBY: But pregnancy will increase the chances, okay...
STEPH: ...no, that's just a complete overreaction...
LIBBY: I'm not putting you in danger!
STEPH: No, so, what, you're just going to give up the chance of having a baby on the *possibility* that my cancer might come back...?
LIBBY: Yeah!
STEPH: Just *might*...?
LIBBY: That's right!
STEPH: Even though I'm willing to go ahead with it?
LIBBY: That's right! I choose you over the possibility of having a baby, are we clear?
STEPH: I just can't let you give up!
LIBBY: Well I'm not, okay, I'll keep trying.
STEPH: How?
LIBBY: I don't know.
They girls hug and cry together.
