Ramsay Street
Paul begins the day by dishing the complements to Rebecca but she is all coy about them when she spots Karl leaving #28. He suggests some quality time together but Rebecca rejects it because its Didge's baby shower today. Elle appears and wonders if Paul's room service has been cut off (to explain his appearance in Ramsay Street) but Rebecca covers and says he's round to discuss a gift for Didge and Declan.
ELLE: Oh I thought he'd just do his usual $50 in a card.
PAUL: Mmm cash it is then. What more could an expectant mother want eh?
Number 22
Lucas is fiddling with the locket when Elle struggles home with the shopping and misses her telling him about her suspicions that something is happening between her dad and Rebecca.
Finally, he gets the locket open and notices some initials that have been engraved into it - A.G.R and Elle says that was her Nan's initials and when he spots a date, 10.10.40, Elle immediately recognises it as her DoB and wonders what it was doing under Harold's house.
LUCAS: Oh a bit of a scandal eh? A bit of love on the side for Granny?
ELLE: Her name is Anne and that's my grandmother you're talking about.
LUCAS: So, Grandma Robertson went over to borrow a cup of sugar and guess where Harold kept it.
Elle tries to say that it might not belong to her but Lucas points out the supportive evidence to prove that it must be hers.
Number 30
Elle and Lucas come over to borrow Harold's history book from Toadie but he is being very possessive (and nosey!) so they are forced to stay to look through the book. She is again sceptical as Harold didn't live in the street in 1973; it belonged to the Ramsay's.
LUCAS: Naming the street after yourself, very modest.
ELLE: It could have belonged to any of the Ramsay's.
LUCAS: (joking) Or Anne Robinson could have playing footsies with a Ramsay.
ELLE: Ha-ha.
They eventually find what it says about Anne - she was a loving mother and loyal wife to Jim Robinson.
LUCAS: People always say nice things about you after you die.
He wants them to go back and look to see if there is anything else there and that it should take priority over attending the baby shower!
Number 26
Miranda is very excited at the forthcoming baby shower and Declan has an idea - double up the baby shower into an engagement party. When the kids leave to get things organised, Steve rues to Miranda that he can't believe that Didge is getting married and having a baby. "At least she's going into marriage with her eyes open" is Miranda's reply.
Charlie's bar
Rebecca is rather sentimental with Declan as they get the bar ready and he has a face on him that says 'right' and is glad to leave and buy some batteries for the camera to get away!
Karl and a returned Susan enter the bar to meet with Paul and he is dying to tell them the news about himself and Rebecca but she isn't, so makes up an excuse to have a word with him in her office.
PAUL: An invitation to Rebecca's office must be my lucky day.
SUSAN: (to Karl after Paul leaves) The only place he's going to get lucky with Rebecca is in his dreams.
In her office, she makes it clear that she isn't happy at him trying to spread the news but Paul is so happy he wants to tell the whole world. "I'm not ready for it" she tells him after feeling like such a fool the last time.
PAUL: Rebecca, that's not going to happen again.
REBECCA: I do want to believe that but I need more time.
PAUL: I see, so until then we are a secret?
Underneath Number 24
Lucas is hunting underneath the house for a clue but Elle would rather be heading off to the party as she couldn't care less about the locket. He is trying to figure out why it was under someone else's house.
LUCAS: What was she doing? Who was she doing it with?
ELLE: Now you're just trying to find something scandalous about my family.
LUCAS: (laughing) How is anybody going to out-scandal your father?
ELLE: (warning him) Hey! I can diss my father, you cannot!
Elle decides she has had enough and leaves to get to the party but Lucas continues looking because he wants to get to the bottom of things.
Lassiters Lake
Declan is babbling on about speeches as he walks with Didge and finally she tells him to stop because he is doing her head in - she wants them just to concentrate on the baby for now. He asks if she no longer wants to get married but Didge doesn't answer that, instead telling him that she feels everything is out of control and it isn't her hormones speaking either!
DIDGE: I'm sick of everyone not taking me seriously, it's like just because I'm pregnant I have no idea what I'm saying.
"Okay" is his reply before adding "there are a whole load of people at Charlie's who love us" and he is going to the party and would really like her to be there too.
DECLAN: Maybe it will help you decide what you want.
Didge plays with her engagement ring before wiping a tear away.
Charlie's
Rebecca spots Declan alone at the party and asks where Didge is. "She's coming" is his reply and Rebecca goes all parenty saying she is proud of him as Steve and Miranda appear. The too wonder where Didge is and Rebecca replies for him saying that Didge is practicing for the big day - making a late entrance! "That's our Didge, always over preparing" replies Steve, and Miranda mentions that Didge was out of sorts earlier but Declan denies that she was and adds that she is coming.
MIRANDA: Well, it's not just the bride who's on edge.
STEVE: They are so young.
REBECCA: (laughing) Would you listen to you, you sound like you are about seventy!
Rebecca is all set to get the food sorted with Miranda when Paul comes in wanting a word and she agrees to meet him in her office once she's shown Miranda what's what in the kitchen. While the ladies head to the kitchen, Paul gives Steve $50 as his pressie for the parents-to-be.
Rebecca finally gets to hear what Paul needed to talk to her about - he's had a contract drawn up that will pay her $50k if he cheats on her again! She thinks he is joking, he isn't - it's his way of proving to her that he'll always be faithful to her. "I'm not for sale" she tells him whilst throwing the contract at him.
Didge finally makes an appearance at the party and she admits to him that she's a mess.
DECLAN: Do you love me?
DIDGE: Yes I do.
Outside Charlie's
Rebecca is cleaning a table to within an inch of its life when Elle arrives and wants to know what Paul has done. She tells her about being back together with Paul and Elle gives her approval (and congratulations) before Rebecca then tells her about the contract.
REBECCA: He wants me to sign a contract that states if he ever cheats on me then I get cash.
ELLE: Fantastic.
REBECCA: Oh Elle! Relationships cannot be measured by money.
ELLE: I know that it sounds bad.
REBECCA: It sounds bad?! Please!
ELLE: Look, this is Paul Robinson. He values money over everything...until now.
REBECCA: ...
ELLE: See, from him there is no greater declaration of love.
Underneath Number 24
Lucas is still looking and just as he is about to give up, he finds a box with Anne Robinson's name on it hidden within a metal container.
Charlie's
Donna offers Didge and Declan her services as a wedding planner and they desperately try to get rid of her but Rebecca is the one to finally do that... to begin the speeches!
Rebecca begins by welcoming Didge into her family and Miranda wishes the pair of them a great life together. "The Parkers and the Napier's finally united in marriage" is Steve's bit along with proposing the toast to them. Susan calls for a speech from the happy couple and they are almost speechless although Declan does manage to get a "thanks for coming" out before Rebecca tells everyone to party after seeing their discomfort and starts the gossip going when she kisses Paul on the cheek.
Later, the party is in full swing and Rebecca submits to the evil eyes Susan and Miranda are giving her and Paul and goes over to talk to them.
SUSAN: Well that's one way to upstage your son.
REBECCA: So you think I'm crazy? (Pause) Are you ever going to speak to me again? (Pause) Well say something please!
MIRANDA: If you can be happy with Paul after everything that's happened, well good luck to you.
REBECCA: That's grudging but thank you.
SUSAN: Well I just can't forget about what he did last time and I don't understand how you can.
Rebecca tells them that Paul is changed and Karl adds that "it's Paul Robinson we're talking about" so she tells them about the contact. Susan reply is that it's just typical of Paul using money to get what he wants and Rebecca agrees that is what she thought first too before adding "but it really just shows how much he cares about me." Toadie volunteers his services to look through the contract and Rebecca pleads that they can at least back her if they won't back him. Cue the hugs and Susan tells her that "I think you're crazy but then who am I to judge" whilst turning to look at Karl!
Elle nervously approaches them and asks Rebecca for a look at the contract and when Rebecca hands it over, she makes an alteration to it but before we get to find out what it was she did to it, Lucas sends her a text telling her to 'Get here. Found something'.
Underneath Number 24
Elle has dutifully arrived but hopes her journey underneath the house is worthwhile. Lucas hands over the box and she opens it to find a key for a safety deposit box.
LUCAS: So all we have to do is find the bank, use the key to open the box and...
Elle cuts him off to say they shouldn't because it isn't theirs and Lucas suggests asking her dad.
ELLE: Oh yes right, 'hey dad your mum left a key to a safety deposit box in a little hidey hole underneath Max Ramsay's old house'.
LUCAS: Ah-ha, so you do think it's weird.
ELLE: Look, sometimes with my family its better not knowing.
LUCAS: Don't you want to find out?
Charlie's
Didge and Declan open their gifts but Rebecca wants to talk contracts with Paul. She tells him that there has been an amendment to the contract - its now $100k!!! Paul is stunned at the amount.
REBECCA: Surely the amount is irrelevant Paul?
PAUL: I hardly think a hundred thousand dollars is irrelevant.
REBECCA: Ah yes but you're never going to cheat on me again remember, so it shouldn't matter what the amount is. Should it Paul?!
PAUL: ...
REBECCA: Maybe you want to think about that.
Back to the pressies and Donna hands them her gift to open and when Didge does, it's a veil.
DONNA: (placing the veil on her head) Goodbye Bridget Parker, hello Bridget Napier.
Didge doesn't like this and pulls the veil from her head before throwing it on the floor and bolting from the bar leaving Donna to ask "what did I do?"
