Recap
- Riley feeling uneasy around new bloke in town John Carter
- Lou unhappy about the General Store getting a liquor licence
- Rosie begging Frazer to support her getting another test
Rosie & Frazer's Bedroom
Frazer thinks that Rosie is just delaying the inevitable by getting another test but Rosie replies that she can't move on until she's certain she's not pregnant. She wants Frazer with her when she gets the test done but Frazer sadly says that he can't go through that heartbreaking experience a second time. Rosie understands that it's going to be hard, but she needs a second opinion and really wants her husband by her side.
Number 30 Lounge Room
Dan watches as Sam hesitates before swallowing one of her pills. Worried, he asks her if she always finds it that difficult but Sam admits that she's just been wondering lately what it would be like to feel true emotions again and not the numbness the pills bring. She reassures Dan that she's not going to stop taking her medicine but she's finding it harder and harder to decipher what's real anymore. Dan replies that he wants a fresh start too but certain things can't change - her illness for one. Rueful, Sam smiles and adds that "the past is another".
Footy Oval - Next Morning
While the boys warm up for practice, Lou takes the opportunity to announce his latest venture - SOGS (Save Our General Store). Even though he's still an employee there he's against Marco and Frazer obtaining a liquor licence and is quite sure old Jelly Belly wouldn't approve either.
Didge rocks up with her assistant coach hat on and introduces herself to the team, letting them know who has made the senior side (basically it's all of the Ramsay Street boys plus a few random extras). Didge sends them all away to run 10 laps and the mysterious John Carter approaches for a chat. He asks Didge whether they've met before then says that she reminds him of someone. Before Didge can access the memory bank, John runs off to catch up with Riley and heckle him some more about his temper and almost losing a spot on the team.
JOHN: Although if you did get kicked out it wouldn't be the first time, would it?
General Store - SOGS HQ
Lou has positioned himself right at the front door so he can pounce on poor unsuspecting customers to sign his petition. Miranda wonders whether Lou's dragging down business sales but Marco replies that most people are just treating it as a joke. Lou tries his best to get Libby on board, who has just walked in, but Lib's distracted by Dan. He wanted to meet up with her face to face so he could tell her properly that he and Sam are back together. I'm sure on the inside Libby's screaming blue murder, but on the outside she's quite calm and composed and congratulates him. Dan admits that he couldn't just let his marriage dissolve or else he'd be plagued by 'what if' for the rest of his life.
LIBBY: You don't have to make it sound like some sense of duty. You love Sam, I know that.
DAN: Yeah I do.
LIBBY: I'm happy for you both. And if you did walk away for whatever reason, you wouldn't be the man I think you are.
Footy Oval
Didge teases Ringo about his weak handballing skills and skips off to practise with Riley. Some dude called Chris (who had been checking Didge out), introduces himself to Ringo and Declan but immediately gets on the wrong foot with them by suggesting that Didge would be hot if she just put in a bit more effort. Ringo and Declan are very stony-faced and unimpressed.
John bustles up to Riley while Didge is off chasing the footy and taunts him about not truly earning his place on the team. But when Didge returns and sense aggro, the boys say that nothing's going on. Didge sends John away to run some laps so she can get the truth from Riley, but he's not in the mood to share.
Number 30
Frazer is happy to see his mum, who has come to give her son hugs and support. Prue asks how Rosie's doing and Frazer admits that she's still convinced there's a baby. Spying a postcard from Italy taped on to the hall mirror, Prue wonders if Frazer and Rosie should join Carmella overseas for a holiday. She explains that putting some distance between themselves and their heartbreak might be just the thing they need. Frazer gets his pondering face on.
Charlie's
Ringo is asking Didge whether or not he should bulk up a little more, but Didge is distracted by Chris, who is standing behind Ringo grinning at her. John plays the 'torment Riley' card once more and mutters that "little Riles'" new family must just love him now. Aggravated, Riley starts to shove him away but Steve soon steps in and breaks them up. He asks his son what's going on but Riley just tells him to "butt out!" before storming off.
Rebecchi/Cammeniti
Sam finds Rosie in her office and Rosie confesses that she's trying to take her mind off things by working but it's not doing the trick. Sounding quite resigned, Rosie says that maybe Frazer's right and she's just kidding herself about the pregnancy. She can't help wondering if she's more afraid of losing the baby or losing Frazer's love. Sam says that when she lost her baby, Dan was completely supportive but she just couldn't accept that he still loved her. She advises Rosie not to make the outcome of the pregnancy test a test of her marriage too. No matter what happens, Frazer will always love her.
General Store - SOGS HQ
Heather (wearing a necklace made out of giant ball barings it seems) is interviewing Lou about SOGS for the paper. Lou witters on about how the GS is somehow a historical artefact (even though it's only a few years old), and how the new plans for the store amounts to "historical vandalism". Annoyed, Marco asks Lou if he'd mind serving some customers but Lou tells him he'll be there in five. Side note: the random extra taking photos for the paper looks like Harold from the back.
Number 26
Steve and Didge want to know why Riley's so worked up over this John guy but Riley still isn't in a sharing mood and tells them it's none of their business.
Charlie's
Eating lunch with Sam, Rosie is quite surprised to see Prue walk in with Frazer. Prue is concerned when Rosie says that she feels fine, and gets an odd look on her face when Rosie introduces her to Sam - methinks Frazer has had a little word in her ear about Sam's 'friendly influence'. Sam heads back to work and Frazer brings up the Italy idea with his wife, telling her it'd be a chance for them to work through what happened. Rosie flatly counteracts that that getting a second opinion would be a way for them to deal with what happened too.
ROSIE: No trip away or anything else is going to change my mind, OK? I'm not giving up on the pregnancy.
Number 30
Frustrated, Frazer bursts through the door and vents to his mum about Rosie not letting him help her. Prue, however, thinks that there might be another reason why Rosie isn't letting him in. She reveals that when his brother Paul died it was extremely hard to deal with, but she also had other issues to deal with at the same time. Perhaps Rosie also has something else on her mind?
FRAZER: Like what?
PRUE: I don't know, you'll have to talk to her.
FRAZER: I have been.
PRUE: No, I think you've been talking at her. You've been telling her to move on because you're worried about her, but have you actually listened to why she isn't moving on?
Number 26
Didge is trying to get Riley to open up and talk about John and says that she'll just keep pestering him until he does. Sidestepping the real issue, Riley replies that John is just one of those people who rub others up the wrong way, that's all. Didge says that Riley's a better person than he is, but if he continues to fight back then he's only going to sink down to his level. Taking this on board, Riley states that maybe he'll try to drag John up to his level instead.
Charlie's
Heather's happy to see Riley but is quite put out when he says he's there to meet someone else. Bristling, Heather thinks he's seeing Elle but Riley reiterates that they're just friends. Heather doesn't look too convinced but leaves him be, crossing paths with John on the way out.
Laying it on the line, Riley says to John that since they have to play on the same team then they should just leave the past in the past. But John isn't as forthcoming and reminds Riley that he made his life miserable as a kid - information which is news to Riley. John wonders if Didge is aware that her big brother was the one who got them kicked out of their foster home. He smarmily says that Didge was always the golden child and Riley was the resident psycho. Gritting his teeth, Riley says that Didge will never know before launching at John and tackling him to the ground (no easy feat for beanpole Riley seeing as John's built like a tank). Riley's long-lost twin, Ty, steps in not long after to break them up. John grunts that Riley is still the same old psycho before storming out of the bar.
General Store - SOGS HQ
Rosie finds Ringo to let him know his mum's in town, but Ringo thinks that Prue and Frazer are trying to gang up on Rosie. In a reassuring tone, Rosie tells him that no one has taken sides and that they're working things out. Oliver is in the background with Lou counting up SOGS signatures.
Number 26
Didge is shocked to see Riley with an ice pack pressed up against his chin (from a heavy bout of... Shoving?), but Riley lies and says that he had a fight with Heather (I could believe that actually - that ball baring necklace could knock down an elephant). Det. Sgt. Morris knocks on the door and asks Didge if Riley's home, and I say well DUH, he's sitting right in front of you. But you never know, Det. Sgt. Morris could have been distracted by the outside commotion. No, not the phantom lawn mower, the phantom WHIPPER SNIPPER. What's next, the phantom leaf blower?
DET. SGT. MORRIS: Riley Parker I'm Detective Sergeant Morris. There's been a complaint of assault made against you. I need you to come with me down to the station.
Riley looks shaken up and tells Didge not to let Steve and Miranda know.
General Store - SOGS HQ
Prue catches up with Ringo while Frazer takes Rosie away from Dan, Sam and Libby for a quick chat. Instead of heading home for a private talk, Frazer's decided that the busy GS is the best place to ask Rosie if there's any other reason why she's not accepting the diagnosis about the pregnancy. Before Rosie can answer, Marco brings around a tray of food for them to taste test before taking the pastries over to the petitioners. Lou grumbles as his merry band of SOGS-folk immediately cave and trade in their petitions for some food.
Libby tells the two other pointy ends of her love triangle that she's a pretty good cook too and invites them over for dinner that night. Dan and Sam are both quite surprised. Dan accepts but Sam appears a tad wary.
Number 30
Frazer wants Rosie to tell him one more time what's really going on - because if she truly believes that she's pregnant then he'll back off, but he needs to know if there's anything else.
FRAZER: I want to help you Rosie, so please tell me. Are there any other issues?
ROSIE: (hesitating) I'm scared that if I'm not having the baby that you won't love me anymore.
Frazer is quite shocked by this admission.
Police Station - Interview Room
Det. Sgt. Morris is giving Riley a chance to tell his side of the story and lets him know that he can press counter-charges if he likes. But Riley says that it was his fault - he lost his temper and attacked John. The detective gets up to leave the room for a moment and Riley asks her not to let his parents know - but it's too late. Det. Sgt. Morris swings the door open to reveal Steve and Miranda sitting in the hallway.
