Scarlet Bar
Janae asks for Boyd to let her go and she manages to move away from the door. Boyd pleads for them to give their marriage another go but she is insistent it is over. This time, while taking hold of her wrists, he pleads to be given another chance and she asks him to let her go because he is hurting her. To her relief, Steph is back and knocks on the office door asking if things are okay in there. Boyd shouts out that they are okay and are sorting things out but Janae tells him that he is scaring and hurting her, which he seems surprised at, replying that he'd never hurt her.

JANAE: I don't.
BOYD: How can you say that?

Steph decides she's waited enough and enters the office and asks Janae if she is okay. Boyd answers for her and tells Steph again that they are sorting things out and Janae takes the opportunity to leave the office but before she does go, Boyd stops her and with tears in his eyes, says that he loves her. Janae doesn't answer, instead looking at him for a few seconds before finally leaving the office.

No. 30
Janelle is round to check with Pepper if the pressie she has bought Steiger for helping her though recent times is suitable. Pepper has a stunned expression when Janelle pulls a smoking jacket out of the bag and Janelle picks up on the vibes but seems reassured when Pepper says that whatever she buys him, he will like.

If truth be told, she isn't really interested because she has been looking through the pile of mail and her attention is drawn to an envelope with her name handwritten on it. Janelle wants to call Steiger but she opens the letter and finds a cassette tape inside. When she plays the tape, she finds it is a recording of the Casey's telephone answering machine kicking in before she talks to Kevin about the baby from years ago.

Pepper is looking freaked out and Janelle goes over to hug her and reassure her that her dad will catch the creep.

Scarlet Bar
Tearfully Boyd is telling Steph what an idiot he has been because he has finally realised that his marriage is over. Steph wishes she'd been there to help as Boyd breaks down after admitting he's made the biggest mistake in his life.

No. 26
And at No. 26, Janae is crying on her mum's shoulder too about the marriage being over and not even getting through to their first year anniversary.

No. 30
Steiger is round to collect the tape and to reassure his daughter that things will be fine. She jokes with him that she is pleased it was only a tape recording and not a video one because her hair was so bad back then!

Both jump though when someone knocks at the door and Steiger is stunned to see Paul at the door when he answers it. Steiger tries to shut the door in his face when he asks to see Pepper but as she joins her dad at the door, Paul stops it from being closed and hands over the reason why he is round - details on where to find Kevin. Steiger doesn't look too chuffed at how Paul has managed to obtain the information.

Police station (next day)
Thanks to Paul's info, Kevin has been arrested and Steiger takes great joy in informing him that he is also responsible for break-ins and so is up for jail time...unless he co-operates with other matters.

KEVIN: What kind of matters?
STEIGER: When was the last time you called Pepper?
KEVIN: What has she got to do with anything?
STEIGER: Just answer the question. When was the last time you called Pepper?
KEVIN: What would I have to say to her?
STEIGER: I know you've been stalking her.
KEVIN: Is that right?
STEIGER: Too right.
KEVIN: So prove it. (Steiger goes as if to get some evidence). You can't can you?
STEIGER: I will.
KEVIN: You know, sometimes people get what they deserve.
STEIGER: Meaning?
KEVIN: Your daughter ruined my life. I hope she's suffering for it.

Surgery/Law firm offices
Abby drops off some coffees for the running late Boyd and Dr Stone and notices that she is looking rather stressed. Dr Stone reassures her she is fine and Abby comments that there is a full waiting room beckoning, which Dr Stone looks scared at that prospect of.

Toadie gets a shock when he comes into the reception area and runs into Steph and while Abby does her impression of a stunned fish, Toadie takes Steph into his office.

When they get there, they hug and she says how sorry she was to hear about Stinger and listens as he talks fondly of his cousin while out in the waiting room Abby doesn't know what to do with the other coffee's she is holding until finally Steph spots her and after exchanging pleasantries she comes into the office and hands Toadie his coffee. Abby makes a big deal of dropping into the conversation that she is actually working for Toadie and not a possessive girlfriend although her body language would suggest otherwise.

Police station
Pepper arrives to find out what is happening just as Kevin is being moved and gives her the evil eye when he passes despite Pepper turning her back to him. We notice that she has a tattoo of a cross on the back of her neck that I don't think we've seen before. Steiger reassures her that Kevin can't hurt her now but is forced to tell Pepper that there isn't a case against him yet for the stalking but there are lots of other things he's going down for instead. Pep seems relieved at that and calls her dad her hero and he now seems to approve of her being the one to tell Mary Casey what her son has been up to.

When Pepper leaves, another officer hands him a letter which cases him to smile broadly and say "you beauty".

No. 26
Janae looks though the photos of her wedding day and when Janelle sees what she's done, takes the album away from her saying that isn't working.

JANAE: What will? How do I move on from this?
JANELLE: We're all wondering that at the bit aren't we?

Janelle then adds that she wishes she could take the pain away form her but in the meantime she has to let her body do what it wants but she will be there for her.

The mother/daughter chat is interrupted when Steiger bursts through the door with the letter he got earlier, announcing that he's got good news. Realising he's interrupted something, he says he will come back later but Janae tells him not to and instead leaves.

They pass comment about Janae before Janelle asks what is exciting and he hands her the letter.

STEIGER: I've been waiting so long for a yea or nae for this that I'd forgotten I'd even applied. I've been accepted onto the regional assistance mission in the Solomon Islands.

Janelle half-hearted congratulates him and puts on a front to say she is happy about him going off to keep the peace but when she hugs him we can tell from her face that she isn't happy and is just about in tears.

Surgery/Law firm offices
There may be a new doc in town but this one is just as bad as Karl as she dishes out medical advice to a patient after they've left her room. She is also very okay with Boyd when he arrives late and he thanks her for being allowed in with her as she consults patients.

In Toadie's office, with his door wide open, he chats with Abby about money coming in and out of the business quickly...which results in her telling him about her cash flow problem. Toadie falls for it hook line and sinker and gets out his cheque book but just as he is about to write another cheque to her she confesses that she lied to him about her money troubles because she wanted to teach him a lesson. He is puzzled as to why she is angry with him and she admits that she felt he was treating her as a consolation prize. This leads to him denying that there is anything going on between Steph and himself.

ABBY: But you want there to be? You both do. It's obvious.

Toadie again denies this and that she is barking up the wrong tree but stops mid-sentence to apologise to her and asks what happens now.

ABBY: I think you need to get yourself a new receptionist.
TOADIE: You're quitting.
ABBY: (nodding) I don't think we should see each other anymore.
TOADIE: What about Zoë?
ABBY: She'll get over you eventually...we both will. I hope you and Steph can make it work although I'm going to have my doubts to be honest. You had all those problems the last time and what's changed since then? Ah but good luck.

Toadie absorbs what she has just said as she exits the building.

No. 26
In the kitchen, Steiger is so excited about his assignment while in the livingroom Janelle is in tears as she does some sewing. He eventually realises that Janelle is upset and comes through to comfort her.

JANELLE: I don't want you to go. It's a long way, it's a dangerous country and it's a bloody stupid idea.
STEIGER: Right.
JANELLE: I can't stand the idea of you not being here with me when I need you. I thought I could but I can't.
STEIGER: I'll be back before you know it.
JANELLE: Right.
STEIGER: I love you Timmins.
JANELLE: I can't lose another person I love. I just can't.
STEIGER: You won't.
JANELLE: Then don't go. For me don't go.

Scary Mary's house
Pepper interrupts Mary gardening to tell her about Kevin being arrested but not for the stuff about her. Mary blames it on his depression and apologies to her for what Kevin has put her though.

Ramsay Street
Janelle and Janae are back form seeing Toadie about a divorce but turns out like we knew all along that they weren't legally married so he will be able to clear it up no problems at all and Janelle tells her to talk to Steiger about the legal stuff today because he is going away. Janae reassures her mum that "the package" isn't going to desert her forever because he is one of the good guys!

We then cut to Paul running into Pepper as he takes the rubbish out and jokes with he that she couldn't stay away. She thanks him for finding Kevin and that he's being held without bail and he genuinely is pleased to hear that she is safe now.

PEPPER: I have such lousy taste in men.
PAUL: Maybe we should go inside and celebrate with a drink. You look like you could use a bit of cheering up.
PEPPER: You're pathetic!

Way to go Pepper as she walks off leaving Paul standing on the spot.

Surgery/Law firm offices
Paul is getting another massage from Dr Stone and again seems to be enjoying it and informs her that his stress related problems seem to have vanished. She also gives him permission to call her Charlotte and isn't exactly slow on complimenting him about his body either but their flirting is interrupted when her mobile rings.

She takes the call in the reception where surprisingly nobody is around and tells the caller:

DR STONE: He's perfect, a cashed up desperado who thinks he's god's gift. There really is one in every town. Trust me; this Lothario is going to make us both rich.

In Toadie's office, Boyd brings Toadie up to date about his calls including one from Zoë asking if he is coming round to watch cartoons with her. He picks up the phone and ponders whether to make a call or not but settles instead for putting the phone down and getting up from his desk.

Scarlet Bar
Steph spots Janae and Janelle entering the bar and goes up to tell her what she will always think of her as family regardless of what happens with Boyd. Janae really appreciates this and when she goes to collect her jacket, Janelle tells Steph she could really strangle Boyd for what he's done adding that he needs to get his head together pronto.

They leave and Toadie enters the bar and Steph thinks he is in to have lunch with Abby, so tells him to pick a table but he tells her that they've broken up.

STEPH: (surprised) Oh. I'm sorry.
TOADIE: You should be. It's your fault.
STEPH: (puzzled) How do you figure that?
TOADIE: 'Cos I'm still hung up on you.

Steph is totally gobsmacked at what she has just heard and can only say "right".

TOADIE: Yes right. I should have said something before you left. I love you and I want us to be together
STEPH: (still stunned) ...But
TOADIE: There is something that I'd like to try out.

Eventually he tells her that he wants to date her but taking things slow like a normal couple by having romance, dates and fun. Steph half-jokes at them being a normal couple before agreeing with his plan but when she goes to kiss him he stops her.

TOADIE: I don't kiss on the first date. What kind of a tart do you take me for?
STEPH: (still trying to kiss him) Oh come on, can't we just have a 5 second truce or something? Please?

His resistance eventually wears away and Steph finally gets to kiss him.

Scary Mary's house
Mary listens to the original recording that Pepper was sent while setting up the clown outfit we saw on the ground last week. As the camera pans out, we see that the room Mary is standing in has been decorated like a nursery and on the tape we hear Kevin talking to Pepper that his mum is excited about becoming a grandparent even making baby clothes and setting up a nursery. Spooky.
