Recap
- Zeke kisses Bree
- Izzy tells Paul that she doesn't 'love' him, and he tells her to get out
PIE
Izzy tells Paul she knows what it is like to love someone and not be loved in return...she can pretend for him if he wants...He just wants her out. She leaves for her shift at the Bar, and says if he still feels the same when she gets home, she's gone.
Community Hall
Elle asks Ned if he should be warming up like the rest of the guys at the hall, but Ned wants to go home. Elle has other ideas - he's worked too hard, he's not going to go home without trying. Lou comes in doing his vocal warm ups, but makes the excuse that he is just there to watch, when he sees Ned and Elle. Yep, he's there to watch, just like Ned is *cough*...Gino comes in and want to get the night underway. Audition night for Erinsborough's production of Pirates of Penzance that is...
Bishops
Joe has brought Sky home, who comments on the quietness of the house. She's sorry Serena couldn't see the outfit Joe picked to bring her home from hospital in...Joe gives her an emotional cuddle - he never thought he would see her again! Sky wonders where Harold is, and Joe warns her that he is acting pretty strangely. Speak of the devil, Harold emerges from...wherever he was...and wraps Sky in a hug. He admires her will to live - the same spirit that is going to bring David, Serena and Lil home. Sky looks sadly at Joe.
Scarlet Bar
Izzy hobbles in for her shift, but Max thinks she should be at home resting. She says she is fine - she's only on one crutch now, and he should go home.
IZZY: If you insist on getting your wife pregnant, at least go home and spend quality time with her!
MAX: Mmm...fair enough.
Max agrees to go, but warns Izzy not to overdo it, as Karl comes in. He tells Izzy he got her message, and she asks if she can have a minute to explain.
Auditions
Ned is called up in the first line of auditionees, encouraged by Elle and Lou. He is auditioning for the part of Frederick, and takes off his coat, to reveal a pirate costume to rival Captain Feathersword. He's even brought a tape...but he can't get it to work. Gino tells him if he can't learn to operate a tape recorder, then do everyone a favour and go back to the farm! Another auditionee, Corey, arrives, and Ned looks disheartened as Gino gushes over him.
Scarlet Bar Office
Izzy says when you face death everything is suddenly a lot clearer, and she was surprisingly calm. Karl says the message she left was anything but calm. Izzy replies that she just wanted to get the message to him before...well, she just wants him to know that it wasn't a moment of panic fuelled insanity - she realised that she loved him when they were together, and she probably always will. Karl suddenly admits that her message really messed him about - he thought he was over her, but... He grabs her and kisses her, and she throws her arms around him, but he pushes her away, laughing. He thought after all the lies she's told, she would have been able to recognise one...
Auditions
Elle has sorted the problem - Ned was putting the tape in backwards. She and Lou talk Ned into asking Gino for another go. Ned reluctantly asks, and Gino reluctantly agrees, so Ned takes the stage. With an encouraging wink from Elle, he begins to sing the audition piece. Excuse me while I flash back to Idol last year and drool for a minute...bit longer...bit lon...oh, all right. As Ned concludes the piece, Elle jumps to her feet and claps, then remembers her arm is sore, and bounces excitedly instead. The rest of the random extra's clap enthusiastically, but Corey doesn't look impressed.
Scarlet Bar Office
Izzy is dabbing at her teary eyes, when max comes in - he needs the rosters. He is worried when he sees her upset - if she isn't ready, he can cover for her. Izzy says she is fine, and she is going back out there now.
Auditions
Elle and Lou congratulate Ned on a brilliant performance - Elle knew he could do it. Ned says he hasn't got the part yet, and he would also appreciate it if Lou kept it quiet on the street too. Gino calls for his pet Corey the Ken doll, who cockily gets up and states that he will be singing a Capella - he doesn't need musical accompaniment. *Well* then! Corey begins to sing, in a very...ahem...well, theaterised...dramatised... 'roll all your r's because it makes you sound clever'-ised...kind of way.
Bishops
Harold is choosing which annuals he should plant this year, and is thinking about Lil's favourites - carnations. Joe says he will make some extra flowerbeds for him, and Harold thanks him, before heading off to Gino's auditions, to have a shot at a part in the chorus. Sky is upset that Harold doesn't even seem to care about what has happened. And even more so that Joe is playing along with it! Joe strokes her hair and tells her that he will come around to the facts eventually, but forcing him isn't going to help.
Auditions
Corey the Ken doll drops to his knees and squawks out the last lines of his song, a la 'the Dying Swan' as random extra's cringe in the audience. Elle tells Ned he *so* has the part. As Corey finishes, Lou goes over to Gino, and says that er, eve though he, er, wasn't planning to audition, er...Gino tells him to hand his resume to the random extra next to him, and he'll audition him for the chorus. Gino gets up to announce the main parts. Ned Parker...congratulations...you have landed the role of.........the Sergent. And he should think himself lucky, because he has a solo singing part! Corey the Ken doll will be playing Frederick. Elle exclaims to Ned that it is rigged, but Harold arrives, and the pair sneak off before he sees Ned. Harold asks Gino if he can audition too. Gino tries to sympathise with Harold about his loss, but Harold just talks over him. He ropes Lou into helping him sing the piece - one he used to sing with David - and together they take the stage.
No.28
Alex asks Susan what she has been thinking about for their wedding - he is thinking outside, low key...but Susan was thinking the whole shebang - she's marrying the man of her dreams! She wants to gloat in public!
Over at the sink, Rachel asks Zeke if he has seen Bree since their kiss. Zeke says she has just lost a brother - he shouldn't ask her out on a date right now...he doesn't know what to say to her. Rachel tells him to think back to when they lost their mum. All their friends disappeared, and that was when they most needed them around.
Bishops
Harold excitedly chatters away about his and Lou's performance, as the phone starts to ring. Harold just ignores it, saying it will be a wrong number, until finally Joe and Sky come to answer it. Harold keeps nattering away, despite Joe calling for him to come to the phone. Joe takes the message after Harold waves him off. Joe hangs up the phone and Harold says he told him it would be a wrong number.
JOE: It was the police, Harold. They've recovered David's body...it's here in Melbourne, and they want you to go down and identify it...
Bishops - Outside
Sky stares at the moon, and Joe comes out to join her. He laments that that was the call they have been waiting for...but Sky is also thinking of Dylan. She's just hoping and praying that he might be looking at the same moon she is....careful what you wish for, Sky - this is Ramsay Street, remember Sky starts to get upset, wishing that she had some of Harold's optimism - it'd be so good to think that everyone was coming back to them...
No.22
Elle tells Ned he is going to steal the show, and he thanks her for coming. She says the pleasure was all hers, and she leans forward and kisses him. She jumps back quickly though, and apologises. Ned is all 'no worries', but then Paul comes down, and he leaves. Paul tells Elle he has asked Izzy to move out. Elle is shocked.
ELLE: Dad, I can't believe I'm actually going to say this, but I think you should give her a second chance!
Paul says his mind is made up - a hundred second chances couldn't make Izzy love him. Elle reminds him that Izzy saved her life, when she thought she would let her drown. Paul says this isn't about her, but Elle continues, telling Paul that sometimes you can get just as much out of loving someone, as you can from being loved...trust her...
Bishops
Harold is staring into space, virtually un-responsive. He blatantly refuses to go with Joe to identify David's body.
HAROLD: All I would tell you for certain is that it is not him, he is still out there with his wife and daughter.
Joe asks how, and Harold replies he knows it in here (you can all see him gesturing to his heart, right?), he doesn't need to see. Joe reminds him they have identified the body, they just need official confirmation from a relative.
HAROLD: Well I will confirm here and now that I will see them all again, ALIVE!
Harold says Joe can go and identify the poor soul, as someone who ISN'T David, but he won't go. Joe says he is just trying to help, but Harry turns around and backhands him across the face, knocking him to the lounge. He tells Joe to get over his morbid obsession - his son David is alive!
