No. 26
Lyn announces to Janelle that she's all ready for her night out at Susan's for the book club to discuss their latest book - The Priest's Robe (wonder who chose that one! ) - and she invites Janelle along. Janelle says no as it isn't her idea of a good time plus she hasn't read the book. Lyn mentions that Bree has read the book so Janelle says she'll come, but not before telling Lyn that she could have left at home (Steph is babysitting) and her kids would have babysat but Lyn thinking quickly says Steph wants some bonding time with her little brother, and it's a good thing too, as Bree and Dylan are pillow fighting! Janelle asks where Janae is and Dylan replies doing homework in a friend's house.
The Community Hall
Janae is telling Chris that she wants to go home, and he agrees with her, then she tells him that she doesn't know him and he tells her everything will be fine. Janae now tells him that she feels sick, and he again tells her everything will be fine before adding that he's just going to the cloakroom to get his jacket and then he'll get her out of here. Whilst he leaves Janae phones home.
The Community Hall/No. 26
Stinger answers the phone and Janae tells him she feels awful and wants to go home. He asks her if she's been drinking and she says no, only OJ, and tells him to be quick before Chris returns. Stinger asks where he is and where is Mike. Janae replies that Mike has left and she's with someone else and that he's going to take her home, but she is starting to slur her words quite badly. Stinger says to stay put and that they will come and get her and again asks where she is. All Janae can say before collapsing is hall and all ages rave. Stinger shouts her name down the phone and Dylan wants to know what is going on, so he quickly says that Janae is out of it at a bar with some guy and she doesn't like him before adding that something must be wrong, as she sounded weird and let her phone fall. They all head out the door to find her.
No. 28
Susan is interpreting her thoughts on the book and Lyn and Janelle look like she's just said it all in a foreign language. Lyn says what she thought of it and finally Janelle tells them she didn't understand one word of what they said about the book, so Susan apologises and says it would be hard since she didn't read the book.
SUSAN: It's a modern morality tale.
JANELLE: So just give me the highlights - who dies, who gets it on and does the good guy win in the end!
SUSAN: It's not really that kind of story is it? It's sort of a character study.
JANELLE: Oh let me guess, no rumpy pumpy, no drama, no catfights. I mean why bother? I'd rather watch grass grow.
Susan asks her to keep the noise down as Lil is in the spare room getting some rest. This is of more interest to Janelle and her ears pick up at the thought of gossip, asking if it is all over between Lil and David. Susan says she isn't sure but adds that Lil is upset. Janelle announces that it is the best move that Lil has ever made and now she can find someone who is decent and better looking!
LYN: Hey look, how would Lil feel if she heard you talking like that?
JANELLE: Oh for Pete's sake, if we can't talk properly what is the point of even being here and I'm not saying anything she won't agree.
Susan cuts her off asking her to keep the noise down, so Janelle invites them all to Scarlet Bar so they can chat properly and have a chardy at the same time since Lil needs her peace and quiet and they need some social lubrication! Susan looks shocked and Lyn just shrugs her shoulders.
Scarlet Bar
Max is giving bobby the rundown of the security system at the bar and if he has any problems then just to call him, even though Bobby says he'll be fine. Before Max leaves, Bobby tells him that he's done well for himself (with his kids and the pub) and he can see that Steph is one in a million and why he snapped her up. Max gives a reluctant smile before telling him that he won't disagree with him on that point and adds that he's been lucky as far as the business is concerned. Bobby tells Max that he's honest, hard working, that people respect him, he is a good son and that he is proud of him. Max obviously isn't sure about his dad paying these compliments and tells him he's leaving and passes the ladies coming in on his way out. Janelle spots the new talent at the bar and Bobby turns on the charm showing them a card trick and if they can guess how he did it, they can have a free drink.
The Community Hall
Dylan, Stinger and Bree come in looking for Janae but they can't see her. Behind a screen, Chris is telling Janae, whist touching and cuddling her, that she is gorgeous and that she would take a great photo. Janae is trying to stop him and he says she is ungrateful and he thought she was a good girl. Tearfully she tells him that she wants to go home and they stand up (he sort of drags/lifts her up) so they can go to his car and that he can take her some safely. Janae quickly says that this isn't the way, so Chris says they are going out the back to avoid the queue and that is where his car is, but she says no and heads back in the opposite direction of where he wanted to go. Next we see Dylan describing Janae to a bouncer but he hasn't seen her or doesn't recognise her from Dylan's description.
Stinger and Bree come back in and tell Dylan that there is no sign of her outside either. As they're making their way through the hall, Janae collapses and Chris quickly picks her up and apologises to the people she fell on saying that she is a bit worse for ware. Dylan turns round and sees them and goes over telling Chris to let his sister go. Chris says he was just helping her, making up the excuse that because it is hot she must have fainted and tells them to take her outside for some fresh air. Stinger asks what has he done to her but Janae interrupts by asking to go home. Chris tries to escape but someone blocks his route.
Scarlet Bar
Susan is trying to talk about books, but Janelle and Lyn are too busy eyeing up Bobby and wondering how he did the card trick. Again Susan tries to talk books but they ignore her until she gives up and talks about him, describing him as a typical barman, but Janelle says he is exciting and has a glint in his eye (she's making them at him too), so Susan gives up and decides to visit the Ladies!
LYN: I think Susan would much rather talk about the book.
JANELLE: Oh tough, do her good to get a life!
LYN: It's only a bit of fun isn't it?
JANELLE: Oh what is the world coming to if you can't get an eyeful without feeling guilty? You know what we need Lynnie - another does of body magic quick smart.
Janelle whistles over catching Bobby's attention.
JANELLE: Want to go double or nothing?
Bobby holds up a card and they both laugh.
The Community Hall
Chris with a smug look on his face is tying to "explain himself" to Dylan - he could tell she was underage and he spotted her with a guy who was cruising her. Janae says he is lying and tells them she tried to get away but she can't answer when Bree asks if he tried to grab her. Trying to keep them onside, Chris says he has a sister her age at home and couldn't stand by and watch. Sarcastically, Dylan says he is a real hero but Bree dishes out her own version - kneeing him in the groin and telling him that he should be in jail for what he tried to do! A bouncer comes over to see what is going on and Dylan coolly replies that he just needs some fresh air and a breath mint! Dylan tells them to take Janae away whilst he takes Chris out to his car via the back door and hitting his head off the doorframe.
Scarlet Bar
The ladies have failed to work out Bobby's card trick so they want to know details about him instead. Bobby tells them he's travelled life's highways and byways before Susan sarcastically adds that he did it his way! She also adds that he must have something to hide and Bobby replies that if you live long enough then you must have things you aren't proud of in the closet and you get to know who you like and who you don't like.
SUSAN: Except you haven't seen enough of me to make that decision!
He asks if they need more drinks before leaving them, Janelle and Lyn are fine but Susan mutters under her breath "a bucket maybe?"
LYN: I tell you, that was Pierce Brosnan!
JANELLE: If I met Harrison Ford right now, I'd still knock him back for that bloke.
LYN: Come on Susan, you've have got to admit, he is charming.
Susan (coyly): Well forgive me I don't always trust charm.
LYN: You're a cynic.
Susan says she's tired and she's going to head off and Lyn says the same. Janelle stays to finish her wine but when they leave she goes straight to the bar to speak to Bobby.
No. 26
The kids have made it home via the hospital and Stinger wants to call the police as he is convinced that Chris gave Janae something and he shouldn't get away with it. Dylan agrees and Janae pipes up that she doesn't want the police involved since she's ok now. Stinger says things could have been worse and Dylan says that he won't be trying anything on again soon but Stinger is still insistent, besides Janae tells them she didn't even know his name. The three of them start bickering about Mike when Bree brings in some tablets for Janae's headache but Stinger quickly stops her from taking them since the hospital told her not to and it may also interfere with whatever Chris gave her, so she goes to storm off to bed but stumbles when she tries to stand up. Offering an olive branch, Stinger asks then that she talks to Janelle instead, which she will sleep on it and he leads her towards the bedrooms and she thanks them all for their help on the way. Dylan still can't believe that Janae won't hear a word against Mike, so Bree spells it out for him - she still likes him.
DYLAN: Promise me you won't ever be stupid enough to get into a situation like that.
She agrees that she won't before he raves about the move she pulled on Chris and re-enacts the move on Dylan but with a cushion just as Lyn comes in. Lyn tells them that Janelle will be home soon and asks if everything is okay here and Bree replies that it is.
Scarlet Bar
Bobby is clearing up with Janelle watching. She wants another drink and he says no, so she goes to say goodnight but he instead says why don't they go kick their heals somewhere. Janelle agrees, as long as it is just fun between them since she is still married.
No. 32
Max is woken up by a call about the alarm at the pub and says he will be straight down, not before noticing that Bobby hasn't come home.
Ramsay Street next morning
Bobby and Janelle are making their way up Ramsay Street after being in the casino all night. She calls him a gentleman for walking her home until he lets slip that it isn't much of a hardship since he was heading in the same direction too, but he's going to No. 32. Janelle tells him that she thought he was new in town, and he says yes he is, he is visiting his son!
JANELLE: You're Max Hoyland's dad?
BOBBY: Is there a problem?
She them tells him that this was supposed to be on the quiet (them going out last night) since she is a married woman, and tells him to back off when he tries to kiss her since Lou is watching them after coming out to collect his paper. Coolly she says goodbye to him and passes Lou on the way into No. 26, but she hasn't got her keys.
No. 26
Janelle climbs in through the front window ala Jack and falls down when she tries to stand up just as Janae is talking to Mike on the phone. Unfortunately Harvey gives her away, so she feigns her innocence by claiming she got up early and was hunting for Bree's spelling book instead, but the kids don't believe her. Bree and Stinger urge Janae to tell Janelle, but big lugs Janelle has partially overheard them so Janae tells her being at the all ages rave with Mike. However, before she can tell her about Chris, Janelle goes off on one about Mike, describing him as a bloody plonker and if she keeps hanging out with him then she is dumber than she looks.
No. 32
Bobby creeps back home but Max has heard him and tries to say he was just out for a walk, but when Max says he knew he didn't come home last night, says he went to the casino. Max tells him he couldn't care where he goes to and has a go at him for not setting the alarm that he had to go do it at 2am when the security company phoned. Bobby apologises saying it won't happen again in the future but Max chucks him out of his house for treating it like a hotel and letting him down for not setting the alarm. Bobby wants another chance to prove himself, and Max says he did and that he failed...again. Bobby admits to Max that he was a rotten dad and that he hurt him, Izzy and Rosie but he is standing there trying to make a clean start and doesn't that count for something? Max tells him tough as life doesn't work that way - he learnt that from his father! Bobby tells him that he loves him and wants a chance to show that, a fresh start for them both if they both want it.
