Recap
Sky and Boyd talking about him throwing away the book she made for him.
Boyd and Serena dancing and them kissing each other.
Community Hall
Boyd apologises to Serena for kissing her and says they shouldn't but they start to kiss again.
No. 26
It's a full table at No. 26 and Summer comments that it's the best-cooked meal she's had since Izzy moved out. Steph pinches a sausage from Jacks plate and they begin to play fight until Lyn tells them to stop and to act their age just as Charlie and his sister Doreen arrive. Lyn and Steph greet them warmly.
Community Hall
Boyd and Serena are still kissing when Lana and Sky's arrival springs them and they quickly act all innocent so not to arouse suspicion. Sky informs them she's taking Miles (who found the book Boyd threw away) to the formal and that she's also not going back to W.A. and asks if they can all be friends again. Serena is happy, Boyd less so.
Lou's Place
Janelle is asking Stingray if he's taking "princess" Serena to the formal commenting that she might be fun for a good time but not a long time. Stingray is shocked and asks his mum not to talk about her like that but since they broke up ages ago he can't take her to the formal. Lou come over to see how this meal went and Janelle replies fine and as he is clearing the plates away she slips some money in his pocket making him jump. She then asks Stingray to come with her into town to spend her compo money but he says he has to study so she tells him not to hold her responsible for what she buys!
No. 26
Lyn is making coffee and asks Auntie Doreen if she takes sugar. Doreen tells her to drop the 'Auntie' part and call her 'Peace Dove' instead. Max, Steph and Jack look at each other as Doreen explains that it is her "commune" name in the community she lives in but Charlie pipes up and tells them all to call her Doreen like he does. Steph and Jack usher everyone through to the lounge whilst they make the coffee. Steph asks from the kitchen if Valda will arrive for Christmas but Charlie tells them the docs say she can't fly because of DVT. Doreen remarks that Valda wished she could be hear but they've got her instead!
Lyn asks Charlie how his health is and Doreen quickly changes the subject just as Max carefully comes out of the bedrooms. Jack explains about the wasp stinging Max and Doreen says she's got a recipe for a poultice that will cure it much to Max's horror. Lyn again asks Charlie how he is and Doreen answers that he'll be fine, especially after a good nights sleep.
The Coffee Shop
Lana tells Sky that she was low for lying to Boyd about bringing Miles to the formal when she'd never even met him before. Harold interrupt's them bringing out their order and tries to tempt them with this week's special offer from the Health Food Store - Royal Jelly. When Harold leaves Sky tells Lana she'll have to find Miles now, so not to look like an idiot at the formal, and says at least Lana will be there for support. Lana tells her she wasn't planning on going and if the only reason Sky is going is to ruin Boyd's night, then she'd rather not go.
No. 26
Charlie wishes that Lyn had told him about separating from Joe earlier. Doreen says that making herself happier is what is important, which Charlie translates into "life's too short to waste." Charlie comments that Lyn looks wonderful and she tells him about the Life Coaching classes she is taking, and that her family got her though the break up, and she isn't looking forward to her first Christmas without Joe but at least she's got them with her instead.
The Coffee Shop
Stingray is in dire need of a coffee as he's tired and emotional after studying, and proceeds to hug Harold! Harold offers him some Royal Jelly as a pick-me-up.
STINGRAY: Is this where I'm supposed to say 'just say no'?
Harold quickly tells him it's legal and that it comes from the Health Food Store. Boyd and Serena walk in together and Stingray says "what gives" since he thinks they look guilty. Serena tells him to stop being an idiot and goes off to get a drink. The conversation gets round to the formal and dates for it. Sky says that Boyd and Serena can go together since they are both single and can become "the Homecoming King and Queen". Boyd tells her to get real that, "this is Erinsborough not Beverley Hills".
No. 28
The camera focuses on Stingray reading from a book:
STINGRAY: What social factors contributed to the rise of Bush Rangers in the 19th century?
The camera angle now changes to see Audrey and Dahl on the sofa obviously not answering! Stingray announces he's going to fail as his mum comes round and he repeats the question to her. Janelle replies before asking him if he wants to see what she has bought.
No. 26
Stingray in a 'John Travolta Saturday Night Fever' black suit is standing on the coffee table as Lyn pins it for adjustments. He complains about Lyn pricking him with a pin and Max says from the kitchen, he should try a wasp sting. Janelle tells him he looks smart and Jack comments that he wishes he'd had a suit for his formal. Janelle then offers to take him shopping but he quickly drags Summer away with him to get Oscar's food ready. Janelle now offers to take Max shopping until Steph says she buys Max his suits. Lyn asks them to stay for drinks and supper since Charlie and Doreen have arrived. Lyn tells her that Charlie is just back from a cruise so Janelle suggests they have a party instead including decorating the house to make it look like he's still at sea.
MAX: Someone's at sea but it isn't Charlie.
No. 24
Stingray calls round to ask Serena to the formal. Eventually she agrees just to get rid of him. When he leaves Boyd comes out from hiding behind the door. Serena apologises to Boyd for accepting Stingrays invite and he tells her it was the right thing to do, as them turning up together at the formal would hurt too many people.
No. 26
Charlie comes out of the bedroom and Janelle introduces herself to him. Stingray comes running in telling her Serena's agreed to be his date for the formal. They both high-five each other and head into the kitchen with Lyn and Jack sits down and chats with Charlie. Charlie tells him that he's glad he married Valda and tells Jack he is a fool especially about his love life. Jack tells him his love life is going nowhere fast since he told Nina to follow her dreams. Charlie tells him to go after her and he will pay for his flight because life is too short to waste.
No. 24
Boyd is very jumpy about being alone with Serena so she tells him to relax as everyone is out and will be for a while yet. Boyd feels guilty and despite Serena wanting their relationship to be open Boyd says he can't so not to hurt Stingray or Sky. Boyd tells her he likes her but his life is in a mess just now and he can't make any promises. Serena agrees and says she will wait.
No. 26
The "party" is in full swing - Stingray is dancing with Lyn and Max with Steph until she knocks his tender wasp sting area. Doreen confiscates Charlie's drink because of its alcohol content and its vile green colour. Lou and Harold bring round some supplies and more Royal Jelly! Lyn takes Harold off to meet Doreen. Lou congratulates Charlie for his marriage to Valda, apologising for being detained (in prison) on the actual day. Janelle comes through and finds a partner in Lou to do the tango with, until he hurts his neck.
No. 22 backyard
Lou has conned Harold into digging a compost hole due to his neck injury, which Harold is sure he is faking. Harold starts to dig and hits something and proceeds to pull a bone out of the hole, which he suspects is a human thighbone. Lou quickly throws it back and Harold wonders why he did that. Lou replies that he doesn't want to be accused of murdering someone. Harold scoffs and says he may be an ex-con but he's not a murderer.
No. 26
Doreen brings through some tea for Charlie and tells him he overdid it last night. Lyn asks if he would like eggs and bacon for breakfast. Doreen says they'll have her muesli but Charlie says eggs and bacon will be fine. Lyn goes off to cook them and Charlie and Doreen start to talk.
CHARLIE: I have to tell her.
DOREEN: Not 'til after Christmas. You can see how much she needs to be happy at this time.
CHARLIE: We both know it's unlikely I'll even be alive after Christmas.
They both turn round and notice a shocked Steph standing having heard what they just said.
