Recap
- Carmella suggesting they break up as her family's reputation will be bad for Connor's potential custody battle
- Sindi telling Toadie he seems to have got over their break up very quickly
No.28
Toadie has come over to apologise for being "stupid and selfish" when it came to breaking up with Sindi. He thought they could work things out if she stayed...though Sindi doesn't think there was anything to say. He still honestly wants to be friends as they can't avoid each other and she agrees they will have to see each other anyway as they live next door, but she'd still like some breathing space.
The Pub
Carmella walks up to Connor and asks what he has decided and is very relieved to hear that he still wants to be with her. She asks about Maddy, but he knows that it is his problem and that he and Lori will work something out. They are going to discuss arrangements for Maddy tomorrow (without "psycho Nick"), though Carmella is still concerned about her family's connection. She knows that in custody battles, any mud is slung to make the other party look bad. Connor is certain that while Lori has dodgy taste in men, she will ultimately do what is right for Maddy.
No.30
Toadie walks in, flops on the coach and moans to Stu that Sindi just wants space. Stu agrees that it would be quite difficult for her, as last week she thought she was getting married and now she is single. Toadie starts to get defensive, suggesting that Stu now has a clear shot of Sindi and that he is to blame for the beginning of the end of his relationship. Stu fires back he's only blaming him because Sindi sent him packing and he doesn't still have "the hots" for her. Things are about to get more heated, when Carmella and Connor break the tension. Each of the boys go their own way.
CONNOR: See I already live with two kids, you know Maddy will be fine!
Coffee Shop (morning)
After telling Lyn that Toadie thought they would be friends, Sindi empowers the modern, independent woman within and knows she has to be single and get to know herself.
See. Think. Act. Reduce (STAR) is Lyn's advice. Sindi must first:
Know what it is she wants to be
See how she wants to get there
Think about ways of getting there
Then you act
Then reduce all roadblocks
Sindi doesn't think it is that simple, but Lyn is certain that she will get there as afterall, "taking the first step can be the hardest thing but then it gets much easier after that". She knows that she should first rid of all men she is attracted to, but then Stu steps into the Coffee Shop. He is off duty today, as he quickly says hello to the women. Sindi focuses once again and tells Lyn she should have her own car, as she wants to know where she is going without relying on anyone. She quickly realises that she will need a car loan, but Lyn tells her to be strong. "Procrastination is often the first road block". With this renewed energy, Sindi thanks Dr Phil and heads out, stealing a glance at Stu before leaving.
No.30
Connor frantically does a last minute clean before Maddy and Lori arrive, though Carmella think he's fussing too much as Lori isn't the landlord. A knock on No.30s new door sees the arrival of Lori and a fussy Maddy. They all sit down and get introduced to one another and before Connor can start with making up new visiting arrangements, Lori drops the big news. She is moving to Adelaide with Nick as soon as possible and Maddy is coming with them.
No.26
Summer asks Lyn if she has anything for insect bites as Max got bitten by a wasp...she goes to get it just as Max comes in with a slight bend to his walk. He thought she was going to Susan's, but no one was home. Lyn comes back out and offers to put the lotion on Max but he declines. She keeps insisting before Max hints that he got bitten in the backside and will go put it on in the bathroom himself. Stifling her laughter, Lyn thinks that Max should go see Karl as he could be allergic as he hobbles away, clutching his backside.
No.30
Lori explains that Nick can expand his business, which will give them more money and thus, give them more time to spend with Maddy. Connor is angry that this leaves him with nothing and how is he expected to maintain a stable relationship. She is sorry she didn't say anything, but was not sure how this was going to work out, but he still has holidays...he isn't too pleased about spending a few lousy days with his daughter a year. He wants to be part of her life, not just an occasional visitor. Lori is sorry, but she knows moving is the right thing for Maddy, but Connor disagrees that taking Maddy away from her father is the right thing.
Toadie's Law Office
Toadie advises Connor that realistically, Lori is going to get custody because that is how the courts work and there is no way they will rule in a 50/50 custody agreement as it will be to disruptive to Maddy. However...Lori doesn't actually have any official custody rights or sole or partial guardianship. Thus, she is legally has no more rights than Connor does. Connor understands, slowly stating that if he had Maddy at the time of the court order...then it would be disruptive for her to move to Adelaide. So, all he has to do is keep her and he won't get into any trouble. Toadie nods, but he didn't tell him that. Carmella doesn't like the sound of it, as it sounds wrong but Connor disagrees as he already has a fight.
Pacific Bank Corporation
Stu spies Sindi from the window and sighs, before entering the bank. They greet each other somewhat awkwardly as they talk about Sindi's car loan.
STU: What sort?
SINDI: A car...
Stu offers to help her out, as he is also a mechanic as Sindi mentions that she found a cute little sporty car on her way over. They both laugh nervously together, when Toadie pops up from behind. Stu heads over to the que, Toadie following and Sindi is left with a confused look on her face. Toadie slyly asks Stu what he's doing here, when a man suddenly yells for everyone to get down as he is robbing the bank.
Karl's Surgery
Karl casually tells Max to pull down his pants and he'll have a look.
Reception
There's a nice little set up, as Lil brushes Summer's hair, Lyn knits and David waffles about. Lyn warns Lil to watch out for wasps as their house, suggesting they call Wally the Waspman to do their place too. Summer is excited they'll get to spend a week at Nana Scully's house.
LYN: They are so bad in these suburbs you know, they're practically indestructible
DAVID: Lyn, they're your relatives.
LYN: Hey?
SUMMER: You know dad's gonna hate it, but what choice do we have?
LYN: Oh!
DAVID: Oh!
(They both laugh after realising what they meant)
LYN: Love, I think he'll just be happy that he's not bitten on the bum again.
DAVID: That's right, not even a mother in law is that painful!
Changing the topic, Lil asks Lyn if she could give her some tips on how to ask Karl for a pay raise. Karl and Max then come out, Max not being allergic, he's just a bit sore. Before they leave, David cracks a few funnies about Max's circumstance.
So you got to the bottom of it did you?
I'm sorry Max, I didn't mean to be cheeky.
I'll just butt out.
Max should be better in time for the soccer. Who's playing? Arsenal!
Pacific Bank Corporation
The robber is not pleased with the small amount of cash and orders all the hostages to hand over their valuables. Toadie whispers to Stu that he should do something, as the police officer but Stu tells him to shut up and cooperate. Stu quickly realises his police badge is stuck in his wallet, so when the robber demands it from him, he refuses, stating the gift was from a girlfriend and it holds sentimental value. The robber looks to Sindi to confirm this and lets him keep it.
Karl and Toadie's Office
Lil and David both get ready to leave early, as for David, Toadie is obviously on some long lunch break. Lil was going to ask Karl about that pay rise, but thinks she will do it later because she wants to get it right. David suggests that they can discuss it tonight over a nice romantic dinner for the two of them - but Lil can't as she promised to make Serena a celebratory post exam dinner. Disappointed, David then suggests he show her some weekend getaway places for them. He think they are due for it, afterall, Luka is gone and they have their lives back. This of course does not go well with Lil, thinking that David wants to celebrate the back her son is gone and walks out.
Pacific Bank Corporation
A police car pulls up to the front of the bank. On the inside, the robber tells everyone to stay down for 5 minutes while he makes his get away. He leaves, but soon returns because of the outside police. He then pulls Sindi from the floor, threatening that if he is not going out, no one is. Stu and Toadie look worried for Sindi.
No.24
Lil accuses David of being happy that Luka is gone and he admits that he is partially relieved...having Luka brought up a lot of...stuff. A constant reminder about how David was Lil's second choice, a consolation prize. Lil scoffs that it's just rubbish, and tells him that HE is the love of her life. She is sorry that it's not been easy for him and Serena, but he apologies too and they make up.
No.30
Lori explains that Nick is going to Adelaide right now, but she and Maddy will be leaving at the end of the week. Carmella is not very happy with Lori, but Connor is strangely calm about it. Lori once again says that he can visit whenever he likes and she will still come by...but besides, that's why she is letting Maddy stay with him for a few days. Lori kisses her goodbye, and Connor tells Carmella that Maddy is with him now, so it's alright.
Pacific Bank Corporation
The police surround the bank, as the robber peers through the blinds. The phone starts to ring and Stu tells him it's the police and he should negotiate if he wants to get out of there. The robber starts to instruct Sindi to answer the phone and meanwhile, Toadie argues with Stu that it is a perfect opportunity to take him down. Toadie walks up behind him, but gets elbowed in the face, knocking him back to the floor.
