No.28
Stingray angrily tells Toadie he has no idea what he's talking about, but Toadie fires back they're just a bunch of bludgers. All this commotion stirs Janelle, who appears asking for some pain medication as her neck is giving her problems. She senses the tension, but Stingray escorts her back to the Caravan to give her a massage. Toadie dryly tells Susan they'd better check their possessions to see if anything is missing.
Coffee Shop
Sky glances at a photo of Boyd in her wallet and sighs, before noticing a book on the chair. She's skimming the back, when Lana and Serena greet her. She excitedly shows them the book and explains that it's from 'bookcrossing.com' where you read the book and then leave it in a public place for someone else to read and also track it via the internet. Sky starts to explain what the book is about, when she notices Boyd ordering some coffee and gets distracted. He leaves and she sighs that things will be much easier when she is gone and can't believe how childish this is. Serena remarks that things are childish, but it's not Boyd.
No.28
Susan tries to point out the other side of Janelle's life, she has been a person of circumstance, stuck in a poverty cycle her whole life. She has had to obviously rely on her wits. Toadie strongly disagrees with her assessment, he grew up with less fortunate people as well but they were hard working and honest.
Caravan
Stingray quietly massages Janelle's foot while Janelle bemoans that her feet are so dry from running around after the two little ones. She's very grateful to Stingray for treating her like a princess, but wants to know what's wrong. She guesses that they were arguing about her in there and he meekly nods.
No.28
Susan doesn't believe that fundamentally, Janelle is a bad person. Toadie and Sindi make some wise crack about her being a murderer, but Susan asks them to give Janelle a fair chance. No one is perfect and she may have changed after all this time.
Caravan
Janelle is about go confront Toadie, but Stingray stops her. She contemplates leaving as everyone hates her...but he disagrees. He's been hearing great things about her from the neighbours and he's just about to name one when Lyn calls out. She has brought over some raisin and oatmeal cookies which they are a bit apprehensive over, but they dig into them anyway.
The Pub
Boyd comes in looking for Max, but Lou informs him that he's not around yet. However, since he's here would he mind bringing in a few deliveries from the front? Boyd goes to get them and then in walks Janelle. She orders a great bit steak and mousse from Lou, but he disagrees to give her the dessert. She puts up a fuss, but he bluntly tells her there are no more desserts left. Boyd comes back in with a trolley full of alcohol, which Janelle eyes excitedly. She slyly tells Boyd should he ever want to find a place for a bottle of bourbon, all he needs to do is ask and they can come to some sort of "arrangement" and winks at him.
Lassiter's
Serena throws pebbles into the lake when Boyd walks up to her. She laments that everything is changing, Luka is moving into her house, Stingray is acting weird since his mother came, Sky is moving back to WA, Lana is leaving for Canada, and Boyd will be done with high school. Everything is different, but she is in the same place with her weird family. Boyd promises that he'll still be here for her, and that good things will happen as she is a great person. He offers her a coffee and goes inside to get them.
Coffee Shop
Lana and Sky contemplate the deeper meaning of finding the book, when Sky is once again distracted by the sight of Boyd. He approaches and tells Sky that she need not move back to WA on his account, they can probably work something out. Once he leaves, Sky wonders to Lana what on earth that meant.
Skate Park
Shot to skateboarders and bike riders doing their moves on the ramp and we see Stingray busting a couple moves. Serena and Boyd walk by and she tells him he can go skate if he wants while she watches. He gleefully makes his way, greeting Stingray and tells him about this "old bird" who tried to pick him up at The Pub if he stole some alcohol. A car honks and Boyd goes off for a skate, while Stingray greets his Janelle. She has brought him some deep fried food, but Serena can't believe he is eating that. As soon as Janelle leaves for her meeting with Toadie, Boyd rushes up and exclaims that was the old bird who tried to pick him up at The Pub! Stingray goes rank and starts attacking Boyd, yelling that was his mum!
No.28
Janelle describes the moment when her life flashed before her eyes, as she saw the other driver draw closer from her rear view mirror...she believes that kind of trauma doesn't have a dollar figure on it as it was so shocking. Toadie sighs, not thinking he can take the case as it doesn't seem to have much of a chance of success. She accuses him of thinking she's faking it, to which Sindi makes comment and opts to leave. Janelle pulls out some medical records, telling Toadie this is proof that she sustained injuries. She also tells him that she is on her own now, and that she really wants to use this compensation money to provide her kids a real home, a better education...he finally agrees to look over the files and get back to her, leaving. Stingray comes in and asks Janelle if she hit on Boyd at The Pub. She is shocked and denies it, citing that she knew he was a mate of Stingray from a photo he sent. He doesn't remember, but she goes on to say that she remembered who he was, and gave a friendly wink and Boyd said something back that she shouldn't repeat...he wants to know, but she refuses, instead insisting that Stingray not hang around him.
The Pub
Sindi whines to Lou that Janelle's mother is a real pain. He doesn't have a clue who she is, but then realises who Sindi is referring to when she describes Janelle. He tells her about her scam to get a free meal.
Caravan
Sindi furiously knocks on the door of the Caravan and then demands where Janelle put her expensive eye gel. She knows she took it as her eyes look "a lot less puffy" and storms in to search for it. Janelle protests, but then Sindi triumphantly picks it up and turns to Janelle, warning that If she ever touches her stuff she will report her as an unfit mother and huffs off. Janelle is angry and is about to go after her, when Lyn pops up. She moans that Sindi accused her of being an unfit mother but Lyn is sure she didn't meant it. Lyn remembers that she and Joe had a Caravan just like this one and then offers Janelle a spare key to her home, insisting she can use the bathroom and kitchen anytime she wants given the situation at Susan's. Janelle is grateful that there are still decent people like her about.
No.32
Boyd tries to study when he is interrupted by a knock at the door. It is Lana and she has come to ask whether he meant what he said about Sky not leaving. He supposes he did and she asks if he would take her back? Cave in like she did he wonders? She sighs, saying she's at least glad she still has Sky's friendship. If he had half a brain too, he'd try to patch things up but Boyd's had enough and tells her to leave.
LANA: You know, just once I'd just like to meet a guy who wasn't an emotion cripple. BOYD: Why? Would he make you change teams?
No.28
Susan is on the phone to Lyn, defending what Sindi said about Janelle being an unfit mother. She then tells Sindi that Janelle will be using No.26's facilities from now on after what Sindi said. Sindi is not moved, she agrees with Toadie and will be glad when Janelle is gone from their lives. Susan continues to defend Janelle, but Sindi gives Lyn one week to change her mind.
No.24
Lana and Sky check out the book has been around the world and it sounds quite good, from the reviews however Sky is wondering what Boyd said to Lana.
LANA: Sky he's a guy, they communicate in shrugs and grunts.
Serena thinks that Sky is crazy for just sitting here at the computer while talking about whether she wants to get back together with him. Sky has no idea if Boyd reckons they should get back together, but she is going to leave the first move up to him.
Coffee Shop
Lana and Sky watch in delight as the books they've left out get taken by strangers. Lyn walks in and picks up a copy of "The Diary of a Mad Housewife" and asks the girls if they lost it. The deny it, stating they're just freebies and laugh about how it's so perfect, it's like the book finds its owner. Sky suddenly realises that this is the perfect way to get Boyd back, but all she needs is the perfect book.
No.28
Stingray is unplugging the DVD player when Susan walks in. He says that Janelle brought back some pirated movies from Bali and they are going to watch a few. She gently asks whether he should consider some studying, as he does have exams soon. Stingray replies that it's like a homecoming present for his mum, but he'll do some study later.
Caravan
With the DVD player plugged in, Stingray and Janelle settle themselves in. He breaks it to her that he only has time for one movie, as he has to do some study. She is confused at this news, believing that it's just a waste of time in this family as the only tests they pass are the ones going into gaol. She mentions that all the study turned Toadie into a stuck up snob who ditched his family...Stingray says it'll help him get a better job, but she tells him that he'll get a job fine without any bit of paper. She then breaks some big news to him, Janelle wants Stingray to move back to Colac, as she needs her.
